  • Hi, I'm Jack de Menezes and I'll be taking you through game-by-game updates for the match between Laura Robson v Mariano Duque Marino match which opens today's play on Centre Court. We had hoped to bring you a couple of results by now, but a very soggy London has meant that we have had all play suspended so far today.

But fear not, for the Wimbledon roof has saved us from complete boredom, and what better way to kick-off Friday than with the British number one as she attempts to reach the third round of her home Grand Slam for the first time.
    6/28/2013 11:44:38 AM
  • We've got about 15 minutes until the planned start, so let's have a look at what's been in the Tennis headlines overnight...
    6/28/2013 11:46:13 AM

  • At the moment, no woman seems capable of providing much of a challenge to Serena Williams on a tennis court. So how about playing an exhibition match against a man? Andy Murray, for example?

It seems Serena Williams is a little tired with winning all the time in the Ladies singles, so she's open to the thought of facing Andy Murray in an exhibition match. Read more about the potential clash HERE
    6/28/2013 11:48:34 AM
  • The likes of Juan Martin del Potro, Tomas Berdych and Milos Raonic were potential threats, but the luck of the draw had clearly favoured the world No 1.

What a difference a week makes. While the mayhem in the bottom half of the draw has left Murray as the only top 15 player left in his section, there are still six standing in Djokovic's.

It seems that Novak Djokovic's task seems a lot harder this week than initially thought. Read about who Paul Newman thinks he could face in the next week HERE
    6/28/2013 11:51:51 AM
  • Centre Court is slowly filling up - hardly surprising given the rain outside. Though you can protect yourself with an Official Wimbledon Umbrella for the small fee of £25...or you could always take your own for free?
    6/28/2013 11:54:52 AM
  • A rather wet opening of the gates the the All-England Tennis Club welcomes its guests on Friday morning

    6/28/2013 11:56:41 AM
  • We're not expecting play to start on Court One anytime soon, despite the hopes of these determined fans

    6/28/2013 11:58:59 AM
  • This match was supposed to take place yesterday evening on Court Two, but a late rain shower meant that the game was postponed till today, and upgraded to Centre.

Here come the players, and we get a lovely Robson montage from the BBC. She's becoming quite the star is the 19-year-old
    6/28/2013 12:02:15 PM
  • With the players warming-up, let us know how what you're up to. Are you trapped at work? Or are you in the comfort of a dry, warm living room? Perhaps you're planning on donning the wellies and rain coats and thinking of heading to WImbledon and watch the game on the big screen on Murray's mound?
    6/28/2013 12:06:29 PM
  • A few of you showing where your loyalties lie today...

    6/28/2013 12:08:50 PM
  • The player's are going through an extended warm-up due to having no time on the court outside, but we're nearly ready to go. Following up on our seat-watch, we're pretty full, looks like it'll be a full house once we're underway.
    6/28/2013 12:14:01 PM
  • As we prepare to start, the covers are coming off the outside courts, maybe we'll have some more games underway. Anyway, it's Robson to serve first and we're underway!
    6/28/2013 12:16:05 PM
  • *Robson v Marino: 0-0; 1-0

A few nerves for Robson as she takes some time to get her serve working, but the umpire intervenes straight away to over-rule that her serve was in. Duque-Marino yet to return as Robson reaches 30-0, but on the first exchange Robson hits it long as she goes for a winner. Robson is making her opponent do the running here, and she see's out the game with another strong serve. A good start for the Brit.

    6/28/2013 12:19:41 PM
  • Robson v Marino*:
    0-0; 1-1

Although Duque-Marino isn't attacking too much with her serve, Robson fails to return it and the Colombian quickly rounds-out a love-game. Robson looking for some big shots early on, which is causing just a few errors.

    6/28/2013 12:21:43 PM
  • *Robson v Marino:
    0-0; 1-2

Robson is showing some nerves here, and a few sloppy errors allow Duque-Marino reach her first break point. Robson hits 2 big serves to bring the scores back to 30-40, but Duque-Marino takes the next point with some good strokes and she has her first break point.

    6/28/2013 12:25:20 PM
  • John McEnroe on commentary: "You can see how anxious Laura is, she's going big, she needs to pull back a little and get into a couple of rallies with Duque-Marino to see if she folds."
    6/28/2013 12:26:00 PM
  • Robson v Duque-Marino*:
    0-0; 2-2

Marino produces a lovely forehand finish down the line to level at 15-15, but Robson fights back with a winner of her own to reach 30-30 before she hits her next shot just long. Robson levels to deuce though when Marino hits it long, and she deceives Marino with a powerful forehand for advantage. Marino attempts a drop-shot, but Robson gets there and she breaks back immediately.
    6/28/2013 12:30:10 PM
  • Over on Henman Hill/Murray Mound, the coats are off and the umbrella's are down. Who doesn't love the unpredictability of a British summer eh?
    6/28/2013 12:31:12 PM
  • *Robson v Marino: 0-0; 3-2

Some very good play here from both players, with Marino reaching Robson's drop-shot, only to see it come fizzing back past her. An error from the Colombian sees Robson hold serve, and she looks to have settled after a nervy start.

    6/28/2013 12:33:13 PM
  • Robson v Marino*: 0-0; 4-2
They start the sixth game with a 14-stroke rally - the longest so far - which Robson eventually takes, but she hit's her next shot into the net for 15-15. Marino takes the next point, but another powerful cross-court shot from Robson allows her to smash another easy winner. Marino's serve bails her out to 40-30, but she is rushed into hitting the ball too low and we have our second deuce. A wild shot from Marino goes wide and Robson has her second break-point, and she duly takes it when Marino hits long. Lovely stuff from the Brit.
    6/28/2013 12:38:45 PM
  • Play is also just getting underway on the outside courts. We have tennis everyone!
    6/28/2013 12:39:21 PM
  • *Robson v Marino: 0-0; 5-2
A lot of unforced errors coming from Marino, with Robson making her opponent do the majority of the running. Robson hits her first double-fault though to make it 30-15, but two more errors from Marino hands Robson the game. The crowd are enjoying this one, with quite a few smiles spotted around Centre Court - one of those is on Sir Bobby Charlton's face, who is in the Royal Box.
    6/28/2013 12:42:27 PM
  • Robson v Marino*: 0-0; 5-3
Robson hits the first point long, but mixes up her game with a drop-shot that forces Marino's lob long. First signs of frustration from Robson as she hits into the net despite her lead, and she unleashes a flurry of fierce shots in retaliation to win the next point. A double-fault from Marino hands Robson her first set-point, but she fights back to level at deuce. A Robson backhand falls long of the baseline, and she mis-hits her next return as Marino holds her serve.
    6/28/2013 12:47:37 PM
  • *Robson v Marino: 0-0; 5-4
Robson showing a few more nerves in the ninth game, mis-throwing on her serve before hitting into the net, but she produces another un-returned serve to get to 30-15. Another couple of errors gives Marino a break-point, but Robson responds and we see our first fist pump as she levels to deuce. It's quickly forgotten as Robson hits her third double fault, but again her serve isn't returned and we're back to 40-40. The Brit attempts the lob Marino but hits it wide, and Marino breaks Robson's serve when she hits into the net.
    6/28/2013 12:54:10 PM
  • Robson v Marino*: 1-0; 6-4
Robson takes advantage of Marino's serve again to lead the game 30-15, and Marino hits it long to hand her two set-points. Can see finish it this time? Not the first one, as she returns into the net, but she takes the second and the set when Marino follows suit.
    6/28/2013 12:59:06 PM
  • *Robson v Marino: 1-0; 1-0
Robson's certainly going for power over finesse, but it backfires as she hits into the net on the second point. She responds when Marino makes another error, but Robson appears to be having some issues throwing on her serve, having to re-throw on a number of occassions. She get's a slice of luck when she clips the net, and it somehow drops on Marino's side of the court, and she holds serve when Marino returns wide.
    6/28/2013 1:04:22 PM
  • Grigor Dimitrov and Grega Zemlja are currently at 9-games all in a fifth set decider, but Dimitrov is already having a few issues again with the surface having slipped after his serve. Girlfriend Maria won't be too happy with that one...
    6/28/2013 1:05:55 PM
  • Robson v Marino*: 1-0; 2-0
The score goes back-and-forth throughtout the second game of the second set, with both player's making errors. Robson just fails to reach the ball as it slips past her, but another error from Marino bring the score to deuce. The Brit forces another error from Mario for advantage and an early break-point, but Marino responds with a perfectly timed serve-and-volley. We get another flurry of venomous shot from Robson to return to advantage, and she breaks for an early lead when she hits the ball across Marino to the right tram-line.
    6/28/2013 1:11:32 PM
  • *Robson v Marino: 1-0; 3-0
Robson makes short work of the game as she takes it to-love, and we see a little slip from Marino as she hits into the net as her left foot just slipped away from underneath her. The Colombian looked a little despondent following that game as Robson looks to be pressing the accelerator.
    6/28/2013 1:14:24 PM
  • Robson seems to be pleasing you all out there...

    6/28/2013 1:16:23 PM
  • Robson v Marino*: 1-0; 3-1

Entertaining stuff from the pair, Robson fights to take it to deuce, and Marino hits the ball into the net with the court gaping wide open. She should of made that, but she responds with two aces to holds her serve.

    6/28/2013 1:19:09 PM
  • *Robson v Marino: 1-0; 4-1

Marino is visibly frustrated as she launches yet another shot that travels long, shaking her head while muttering to herself. But she produces a brilliant forehand to force Robson wide to make it 30-15. Two Marino errors let Robson take the game, and we get a shot of England cricket captain Alistair Cook looking on in the crowd.

    6/28/2013 1:22:55 PM
  • Robson v Marino*: 1-0; 5-1
Marino misses the baseline yet again to allow Robson off to a good start in the sixth game, and it's another one into the net that hands Robson three more break-points. Robson attempts the lob again, and it lands out again, but Marino hits the next point long and Robson has yet another break of serve. She's now just one game away from victory and her first third round appearance.
    6/28/2013 1:26:48 PM
  • *Robson v Marino: 2-0; 6-1
Ah, we have our first challenge from Marino, and it's in vain as the line-judge was spot on with their call -  the ball just landing the wrong side of the line for the Colombian. Robson launches another two huge forehands to the left-hand side of the court, and she has three match points...LAURA ROBSON WINS AND IS THROUGH TO THE THIRD ROUND!
    6/28/2013 1:29:50 PM
  • The British number one progresses past Marino as the Colombian hits yet another shot long, triggering the Centre Court crowd to erupt into cheers and applause as Robson takes game, set and match 6-4 6-1. It wasn't a perfect performance, with Robson hitting a number of errors and three double-faults, but it was pleasing none the less and she is through to the Wimbledon third round for the first time in her career.
    6/28/2013 1:34:29 PM

    6/28/2013 1:35:36 PM

The Australian is currently ranked 71st in the world, compared to Robson's 38th, and it is a real opportunity for her to progress to the round-of-sixteen as she looks to continue her impressive form at SW19 this year.
    6/28/2013 1:41:44 PM
