  • 6/24/2013 3:29:15 PM
  • Andy Murray practices under the gaze of Ivan Lendl, presumably not taking aim at his coach as he was in their recent charity match.

  • Things are about to get underway...
    6/24/2013 3:42:14 PM
  • Andy Murray 1-0 Benjamin Becker*

Not exactly the most concinving start from Murray. Becker has a break point but Murray snuffs it out and takes it to deuce where the home favourite does the business.
    6/24/2013 3:48:08 PM
  • *Andy Murray 1-1 Benjamin Becker

Great start from the guy who's no relation to Boris Becker. Easy hold of serve and already there's a shout of 'Go on Andy'.
    6/24/2013 3:51:13 PM
  • Andy Murray 2-1 Benjamin Becker*

A sneaky lob attempt by Murray is well read by Becker and the German smashes it down to make it 30-15. Murray than double faults to see the score go to 30-30. However, Murray sorts things out and takes the next two points.
    6/24/2013 3:55:00 PM
  • *Andy Murray 3-1 Benjamin Becker

Murray challenges a Becker serve at 15-30 but the fans can clap all they like - that was in from the German. That doesn't stop Murray earning a break point of his own and more than that - taking it. MURRAY BREAKS!
    6/24/2013 3:59:24 PM
  • Andy Murray 4-1 Benjamin Becker*

After a slightly shaky start, Murray is into his groove in SW19. He moonwalks to a 4-1 lead after dropping just the one point in that game.
    6/24/2013 4:01:19 PM
  • *Andy Murray 4-2 Benjamin Becker

Another failed challenge by Murray. With a simple smash, the Brit over hits it (just) to miss the second of two break point chances. Becker goes on to win the game. Murray should have won that really.
    6/24/2013 4:06:46 PM
  • Andy Murray 4-3 Benjamin Becker*

While Murray was moonwalking a couple of games ago, it would seem Becker is doing all he can to slip into his dancing shoes as well, playing a fine point and capitalising on some lazy shots from Murray. And SHAMONE! Becker breaks back after a double fault from Murray.
    6/24/2013 4:09:53 PM
  • *Andy Murray 4-4 Benjamin Becker

Becker gets himself into a couple of rallies with Murray - and to put it simply - that's a BAD IDEA. Murray wins the first couple of points and Becker learns his lesson, forcing a couple of quicker finishes to make the score 30-30. He takes the next two as-well and we're back level here.
    6/24/2013 4:14:58 PM
  • Andy Murray 5-4 Benjamin Becker*

It would seem Murray's not happy about losing three games in a row as he doesn't waste his time advaning to a 40-0 lead. Becker gets it back to 40-30 before Murray smashes down an ace.

Umpires must love asking the crowd to turn off their mobile phones. Never fails to gain a round of applause.

  • 6/24/2013 4:19:29 PM
  • *Andy Murray 6-4 Benjamin Becker

At 15-30 we see the best point of the match - drop shots, clips off the net and lobs but it's Becker who comes out on top. Murray goes on to earn a set-point but Becker takes it to Deuce. Murray earns another and this time he doesn't miss his chance. MURRAY WINS THE FIRST SET.
    6/24/2013 4:26:04 PM
  • Andy Murray 6-4 1-0 Benjamin Becker*

What's Murray playing at? This is Benjamin, not Boris. The Scot offers up a break point in the first game of the second set which he has to snuffle out with some big serves. We then see four Deuces before Murray holds.
    6/24/2013 4:34:23 PM
  • Is that seat between you spare? Wouldn't mind listening to that conversation between Pippa Middleton and Condoleezza Rice.

    6/24/2013 4:36:39 PM
  • *Andy Murray 6-4 1-1 Benjamin Becker

Becker holds his first service match of the second set and completes it with a delicate dropshot. Murray's going to have to work for this victory.
    6/24/2013 4:38:45 PM
  • Andy Murray 6-4 2-1 Benjamin Becker*

No messing about there from Murray. Four straight points and a 2-1 lead in the second set is his.
    6/24/2013 4:40:01 PM
  • *Andy Murray 6-4 2-2 Benjamin Becker

Murray beginning to ping off a few shots that show the difference in class between him and his opponent. Becker's showing his big serve however and a couple of thumping aces see us remain on serve in the second set.
    6/24/2013 4:45:05 PM
  • Andy Murray 6-4 3-2 Benjamin Becker*

What a shot from Murray - after clipping the net, Becker is right on top of the net but the Scot finds a tiny alley of space down his opponent's side to take the point. Game to Murray.
    6/24/2013 4:48:37 PM
  • *Andy Murray 6-4 3-3 Benjamin Becker

Murray's not quite getting on top of his opponent at the moment. A long rally that you would expect to end with the Scot coming out on top is won by Becker, who is really finding his shots right now.
    6/24/2013 4:52:55 PM
  • Andy Murray 6-4 4-3 Benjamin Becker*

We have some new balls here (does anyone know what they do with the old ones?) and it appears to play into Murray's hands. The Scot wins three quick points before taking the final one when Becker fails to nudge the ball over the net. We remain on serve - something's going to have to give soon.
    6/24/2013 4:57:09 PM
  • *Andy Murray 6-4 5-3 Benjamin Becker

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!! Some wonderful screams coming from the line judges on centre court. I always imagine they have a private bet going on who can shout the loudest. Anyway, better game from Murray which ends with the first break of the set. I said something would have to give.
    6/24/2013 5:01:39 PM
  • Andy Murray 6-4 6-3 Benjamin Becker*

With a couple of aces and some razor sharp shots MURRAY WINS THE SECOND SET.
    6/24/2013 5:05:11 PM
  • BREAKING: RAFAEL NADAL HAS LOST IN STRAIGHT SETS ON COURT ONE
    6/24/2013 5:05:47 PM
  • *Andy Murray 6-4 6-3 1-0 Benjamin Becker

Within a flash Murray earns himself three break points but he only needs one, working Becker around the court before setting up a simple finish with his opponent stranded. Great start to the third set for Murray.
    6/24/2013 5:10:27 PM
  • Andy Murray 6-4 6-3 2-0 Benjamin Becker*

The best way to describe the second point of that game was "almost brilliant". With Becker presented smash after smash, Murray kept on returning until finally hitting one long. It didn't matter though with the Scot holding serve and taking a 2-0 advantage in the third set. This could be over soon.
    6/24/2013 5:14:00 PM
  • *Andy Murray 6-4 6-3 2-1 Benjamin Becker

Becker gets on the board in the third set. He wins it with an ace that Murray challenges. Hawkeye shows it to be one of the worst challenges of all time with the ball clearly in.
    6/24/2013 5:18:27 PM
  • *Andy Murray 6-4 6-3 3-1 Benjamin Becker*

The Nadal result came through to Centre Court during the break just then - and while the crowd made their feelings known (think a few oohs, a couple of aahs and from somewhere, a shriek) Murray kept stony faced, not wanting to give anything away. To be fair to him, he's good at that. He must be delighted though and it appeared to give him a boost as he didn't drop a single point on that service game.
    6/24/2013 5:21:55 PM
  • *Andy Murray 6-4 6-3 3-2 Benjamin Becker

Some excellent play from Becker there to hold his serve again. Perhaps he's felt inspired by the Nadal defeat?
    6/24/2013 5:24:58 PM
  • Andy Murray 6-4 6-3 4-2 Benjamin Becker*

Not inspired enough to break the Murray serve though. A simple hold from the Scot and Murray's just a couple of games from the second round.
    6/24/2013 5:27:14 PM
  • *Andy Murray 6-4 6-3 5-2 Benjamin Becker

Murray shows off his football skills, kicking the ball into the net out of frustration after making an unforced error. He needn't be getting angry though as MURRAY BREAKS AGAIN and is now a service game away from the second round.
    6/24/2013 5:31:20 PM
  • Andy Murray 6-4 6-3 6-2 Benjamin Becker

MURRAY IS INTO THE SECOND ROUND after holding serve against Becker. He smashes it across court to ensure he goes further at Wimbledon 2013 than Rafa Nadal.
    6/24/2013 5:35:21 PM
  • Andy Murray 6-4 6-3 6-2 Benjamin Becker

While it wasn't vintage Murray, he did enough against a skilled and persistent opponent. That result for Nadal proves that no victory should be taken for granted and Murray will be delighted to have got that one out of the way. He'll probably be wanting to get to the dressing room quickly so he can find out what happened to his Spanish rival. That's it from me. Join us again for Murray's next match.
