  • Dimitar Berbatov future remains uncertain - Alex Ferguson suggests Tottenham could hijack move to Fulham.
    8/31/2012 12:35:31 PM

    8/31/2012 12:36:06 PM

    8/31/2012 12:36:19 PM

    8/31/2012 12:36:27 PM
  • Everton agree fee with FC Copenhagen for Bryan Oviedo.
    8/31/2012 12:36:35 PM
  • Nigel de Jong joins AC Milan from Manchester City - midfielder ends three-and-a-half year spell at the Etihad.
    8/31/2012 12:36:47 PM
  • Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart travelling to Hamburg for medical - It would seem Hamburg have stumped up a bit more cash after 'direspecting' Spurs with their previous offers.
    8/31/2012 12:36:56 PM
  • Sky Sports report that Maicon has completed his transfer to Manchester City.
    8/31/2012 12:41:53 PM
  • So one in and one out at Manchester City. But that won't be it. Roberto Mancini wants to bring in Matija Nastasic from Fiorentina, with Stefan Savic set to move in the opposite direction, Inter Milan defender Maicon and Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia. #busy
    8/31/2012 12:49:32 PM
  • Dimitar Berbatov had looked certain to sign for Fulham, but this morning, Manchester United manager put a cat among the pigeons by suggesting the striker could re-join Spurs. Here's what he said...

I do not know what has happened. He has not gone yet. I do not know anything about it. There's not been any contact from him. We thought he was in Italy but it turned out he isn't. He could be anywhere. I really mean that. I wouldn't be surprised if he was at Tottenham. There are rumours going around. I do not think it is settled at Fulham.
    8/31/2012 12:52:51 PM
  • Not much talk about Michael Dawson today, when just a week or so ago the Tottenham defender looked certain to join QPR. The injury to Younes Kaboul may have put an end to this deal, but we'll keep you updated if anything happens.
    8/31/2012 1:00:32 PM
  • He came from Barcelona and won a gold medal at London 2012 - but ultimately, Giovani Dos Santos was useless at Spurs. Following loan spells with Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and Racing Santander - Tottenham have finally offloaded the 23-year-old Mexican for good. He's gone to Real Mallorca.
    8/31/2012 1:06:30 PM
  • Currently trending on Twitter is Ryan Babel - the lover of large headphones and former Liverpool striker is apparently in London for talks. But with who? Fulham, QPR or West Ham (apparently).

    8/31/2012 1:09:35 PM
  • How many players can you fit into Loftus Road? A stupid amount it would appear as Mark Hughes has confirmed that Stephane Mbia is en route to London and will have a medical at QPR this afternoon.
    8/31/2012 1:18:34 PM
  • There's transfer action at Arsenal! But calm down though. Park Chu-young is off on loan to Celta Vigo with a view to a permanent switch. And it seems Arsene Wenger isn't finished when it comes to selling off every recognised striker at the Emirates. Nicklas Bendtner is reportedly undergoing a medical at Italian champions Juventus.
    8/31/2012 1:22:04 PM
  • There might be some more exciting (kind of) news for Arsenal, in that it's rumoured Chelsea may once more take sympathy on their London rivals and loan them a midfielder. Apparently Michael Essien could be on his way across town.
    8/31/2012 1:23:26 PM
  • Roque Santa Cruz (remember him?) is apparently leaving Manchester City (yes really, he's still there) for Malaga.
    8/31/2012 1:26:34 PM
  • Should Mbia arrive at QPR as he's expected too - that should end the Rs interest in Ricardo Carvalho and Tottenham's Michael Dawson.
    8/31/2012 1:35:59 PM
  • In other news at QPR - Joey Barton. The bad boy of the Premier League could be off on loan to Marseille. Mark Hughes had this to say on the matter...

I would have thought it would be concluded quite quickly. I would be surprised if it wasn't. The feeling is obviously there that he wants him to pursue it and we want him to do that. When there is a will on both sides then I think it usually gets done.
    8/31/2012 1:39:59 PM
  • More news on Joey Barton... Marseille's sports director Jose Anigo told reporters this earlier...

The two clubs (Marseille and QPR) have reached an agreement. Mbia still has to find one with QPR. Then Joey will be here. Joey's arrival is linked to Mbia's move to QPR. It will be a transfer for Mbia and a loan for Joey. There are quite good chances that the deal will be completed. But it's not done yet.
    8/31/2012 1:44:31 PM
  • Sky Sports claim Fulham are interested in Brazilian winger Michel Bastos of Lyon. Preparing for the departure of Clint Dempsey?
    8/31/2012 1:46:13 PM
  • Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has completed his return to Hamburg. Something of a blow to Spurs that - top player. No info yet on fee, although Tottenham were thought to be holding out for £14m.
    8/31/2012 1:49:27 PM
  • Rafael's with Sylvie van der Vaart @sylvievdervaart tweeted this earlier...

Thank you Spurs, and all the fans for an amazing time! You guys have the greatest team in England. Will (heart icon) you always #coys Time to go home now (heart icon)
    8/31/2012 1:51:00 PM
  • More on the rumour Fulham are to sign Michel Bastos. Reportedly the fee for the Brazilian winger will be £7m - but it's not a done deal. According to the 29-year-old's agent, there is another club interested in him - believed to be Liverpool. He said...

He is discussing with two clubs in England and Fulham is one of them. But at the moment I would prefer not to say the other one. We will see what happens as the day goes on. I expect something to happen today.
    8/31/2012 1:58:51 PM
  • Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has accused Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy of moving the goalposts at the 11th hour over the transfer of Hugo Lloris. He rates the chances of the keeper joining Spurs at '50-50'. This is what he had to say...

"The things as they were at 5am were not the same at 10am. I think we have to make sure we get a certain amount of value because it's important that Hugo can go to a quality club that allows him to do himself justice from a value point of view, so that he can feel right about it.
"I would put it at 50-50 that Hugo goes to Tottenham. Although from the outset, we've submitted to agreements, I would now put it at 50-50 that he'll be going there.
"Agreements have not at all been respected. We've done what we can. Hugo has been troubled by the difficulty in these negotiations.
"Our transfer window is open until 4 September but for Tottenham the English transfer window closes on 31 August. Either it happens tonight or not at all for Hugo Lloris.
"It's been very, very difficult. I've got 25 years of experience as a president of a club and it's our 16th participation in a European competition in a row. But this is very rare in the football world.
"The negotiation with the Tottenham directors has been the hardest I have ever had to undergo in these 25 years.
"We had email exchanges which have been contradicted, so that's made it very complicated. It's difficult.
"The Tottenham board's theory is to explain that the economic market is very hard and so we have to get used to renegotiating.
"He has agreed personal terms with Tottenham, he remains under that impression but, since, we have had Hugo Lloris on the telephone for a long time overnight and this morning and he's completely undecided about what happens next.
"The first negotiation was at the start of the window, about a month and a half ago.
"And then nothing for about a month and a half. The negotiation then picked up again about a week ago."
    8/31/2012 2:14:52 PM
  • There are reports that Tottenham will spend a club record fee of £22m on Joao Moutinho today - despite AVB having said any deal was 'impossible'.
    8/31/2012 2:20:14 PM
  • You don't know what your talking about Sir Alex (admittedly by his own admission - Dimitar Berbatov will not be joining Tottenham, that's because he's signed a two-year deal with Fulham. The fee is undisclosed, but understood to be in the region of £5m.
    8/31/2012 2:35:52 PM
  • This is what Dimitar Berbatov had to say after joining Fulham...

"As soon as I was aware of Fulham's interest my decision to join was an easy one to make. I'm impressed with the set up here and the people have made me feel welcome. There is a close and personal feel around the club and I can't wait to get started.

Hmm - 'easy decision'? Imagine that's why yesterday he was boarding a plane for Italy.
    8/31/2012 2:42:19 PM
  • Sky Sports report that Hugo Lloris is flying to London to undertake a medical at Tottenham.
    8/31/2012 2:45:06 PM
  • In various places it's been reported that Maicon has joined Manchester City. No official word from the Etihad or Inter Milan, but it'd seem a done deal.
    8/31/2012 2:50:25 PM
  • And almost as soon as that last post - Manchester City have confirmed that Maicon has joined from Inter Milan.
    8/31/2012 3:03:28 PM
  • For those of you missing Harry Redknapp - here's a picture of a car door.

    8/31/2012 3:06:08 PM
  • Saints boss Nigel Adkins has confirmed Bologna playmaker Gaston Ramirez is on the verge of signing for Southampton.
    8/31/2012 3:07:21 PM
  • Alongside Luka Modric, who eventually left Tottenham for Real Madrid, Clint Dempsey has been this summer's top transfer saga. It's all very quiet right now. Earlier, it was reported that Aston Villa had a bid accepted by Fulham, but shortly after it was claimed the player had turned down that option. The American obviously wants to join Liverpool - but as it stands, there is still no offer from Anfield.
    8/31/2012 3:15:28 PM
  • Michael Owen - former European Player of the Year and regular at the race track - is a free agent. But is anyone going to snap him up? There's not been much talk today, although Stoke are considered his most likely destination. As he's a free agent, he can sign outside the transfer window. One to keep the rumour mill churning after tonight then...
    8/31/2012 3:32:42 PM
  • Manchester City have confirmed that Richard Wright has joined the club.
    8/31/2012 3:35:20 PM
  • Roberto Mancini said of Richard Wright...

We need a goalkeeper with experience and Richard Wright is good for us.

He wasn't much good for anyone else though, Wright was a free agent.
    8/31/2012 3:37:19 PM
  • A happy Sam Allardyce has been chatting to Sky Sports about West Ham's acquisition of Andy Carroll...

The co-owners worked particularly hard with me over a very short period of time to get this deal through. I'm very appreciative of that and hopefully Andy can pay back the faith we've shown in him.
    8/31/2012 3:47:30 PM
  • Manchester City have reportedly agreed an £18m fee with Benfica for midfielder Javi Garcia. A busy day at the Etihad - they've already brought in Scott Sinclair, Richard Wright and Maicon - with Nigel de Jong departing.
    8/31/2012 4:00:49 PM
  • It's gone a little bit quiet on the transfer front for the moment - but don't expect that to last - there's still loads of deals to be done. Here are the ones we expect to go through...

Clint Dempsey to join either Liverpool, Sunderland or Aston Villa.
Tottenham to sign Hugo Lloris and Joao Moutinho. Those two combined may cost as much as £35m.
Manchester City to add Javi Garcia to their squad in a big money deal.
    Gaston Ramirez to join Southampton.
Everton to complete deal for Bryan Oviedo
    8/31/2012 4:05:46 PM
  • Swansea have completed a deal for Pablo Hernandez - seen as a replacement for Scott Sinclair who joined Manchester City. Here's what the Spaniard had to say...

I am very happy. It's my dream, to play in the Premier League.
    8/31/2012 4:10:43 PM
  • Twitter is going crazy for... Charlton! And the reason for it is that former England holder-upper Emile Hesley is reportedly going to join the Championship side.
