The Masters Live - latest action from day one

  • Many fancied Adam Scott before play but he's had a howler. Taps in at 18 for a four over. Obviously knows I've backed him.  Rory misses makeable putt at par 5 eighth - about 8footer. Takes par but was in trouble off tee so all's fair
    4/7/2016 8:23:16 PM
  • Jason Day scrambles par at 11 to avoid double dropped shots. Was in the pines, came up short of green, chipped on and rolled putt home. Good save from our Aussie chum
    4/7/2016 8:25:37 PM
  • Rory McIlroy plays lovely iron shot into ninth to leave birdie chance. Rolls it down the hill and in and plays front 9 in 34. Two par 5s in back nine he'll like the look of with his booming drives. Jason Day with birdie putt on par 3 12. Straight putt but misses and takes his par to stay four under
    4/7/2016 8:39:55 PM
  • Bubba's having a wobble. Back at one under he leaves putt short on 14. Leaves 5 footer for par
    4/7/2016 8:46:05 PM
  • Jason Day back in the pine straw on par 5 13. Big shot as he goes for the green - trying to fly the creek and he makes it. Brilliant strike. Eagle putt now for Day...Bubba misses putt, his third bogey in 4 holes and drops back to even
    4/7/2016 8:48:50 PM
  • Ian Poulter makes back to back birdies at 13 and 14 - moves to 2 under. Second at 14 was a gem left short putt which he nails.
    4/7/2016 8:50:09 PM
  • Shane Lowry at 5 under pars the 10th. Great beard, great round so far and remains one off the lead
    4/7/2016 8:53:04 PM

    4/7/2016 8:56:18 PM
  • Shane Lowry misses birdie putt at 11. Rolls it past. Takes par. Over to Jason Day at 14 for his biridie putt but he's a bit tentative with his effort and also has to take par. Missed half-chances to draw level with Spieth
    4/7/2016 9:13:47 PM
  • Shocker for Rory (-2) who hits tee shot at par 4 11 into the woods and is left with very little daylight. Ulsterman tries to get it out and does but only just. Might be medicine time for Rory but he won't want to lose too much ground on leading pack
    4/7/2016 9:17:14 PM
  • Rory plays out of second cut of rough and finds green. But it looks like a bogey and back to one under unless he can nail a miracle putt
    4/7/2016 9:18:34 PM
  • Bubba, Bubba, Bubba. Lost his concentration and picks up another bogey at 15. Freefalling down the leaderboard with fourth bogey in 5 holes
    4/7/2016 9:20:04 PM
  • Rory does miss his putt at 11 and drops back to one under par. Not a disaster but won't want to fall further behind on day one
    4/7/2016 9:22:59 PM
  • And now Bubba's in the drink! Chunks his tee shot at the par 3 16th and splishes into the water just shy of the green. Turning into a horror show for the Green Jacket winner in 2012 and 2014.
    4/7/2016 9:25:36 PM
  • Jason Day lays up at par 5 15, dinks it over the water but has work cut out to make anything other than a par after radar goes a bit wonky. Shane Lowry drops shot at tough 12th to slip back to four under. Par 5 to come though
    4/7/2016 9:32:14 PM

    4/7/2016 9:36:02 PM
  • Oof! three putts from 20 foot for Jason Day at 15 as he drops a shot and falls to four under. Par 5 wasted for the world No 1
    4/7/2016 9:38:07 PM
  • Shane Lowry watches Jason Day muck up and then pitches onto the green over the creek. Leaves long birdie putt though and misses. Left to take par. Rory nails drive down the middle of 13
    4/7/2016 9:45:20 PM
  • Unbelievable! Jason Day follows Bubba into the water at 16.
    4/7/2016 9:45:40 PM
  • Rory takes advantage of lovely tee shot on 13 by pinging in a cracker of an iron shot to leave very good eagle chance
    4/7/2016 9:46:43 PM
  • Jason Day (-4) takes a drop on 16, then takes a wedge but makes a hash of it - fails to find the slope that feeds ball back towards hole. Ball above hole and devilish putt coming up
    4/7/2016 9:48:35 PM
  • Jason Day rolls putt past hole and can't sink the one back up the hill either. Wheels off! Triple bogey for Day. Back to back 6s means he's dropped four shots in two holes and sinks to one under
    4/7/2016 9:53:21 PM
  • Rory lands the eagle! Lovely 10 foot putt always going in. Jumps to three under as Day heads the other way. Shane Lowry and Danny Lee on four under, Spieth in clubhouse on -6
    4/7/2016 9:58:12 PM
  • And now Jason Day's drive on 17 goes off to the left. He's having a horrid few minutes here.
    4/7/2016 10:00:01 PM
  • Ian Poulter pars the 18th to finish with a 3under 69. Rory plays lovely approach on 14 to leave 15ft birdie putt. If he'd spun it it would have been even sweeter.

    4/7/2016 10:29:30 PM
  • Good on Danny Willett - lovely tee shot on par 3 16 and nails putt for birdie that take him to three under with fellow Englishmen Rose, Poulter and Casey
    4/7/2016 10:30:55 PM
  • Rory overcooks eagle putt on 16. Tricky birdie putt now. Will not want to waste chance on par 5
    4/7/2016 10:32:03 PM
  • Shane Lowry duffs 10 footer on 16. Stays at four under. Over to Rory - rolls putt and in it goes for a birdie. Up to four under, two off the top
    4/7/2016 10:34:03 PM
  • Par 3 16 for Rory now. Overhits tee shot though and now leaves killer putt to even get it close. Ouch!
    4/7/2016 10:35:54 PM
  • Rory (-4) has to aim way left of hole with putt on 16 - and makes a decent job of it.
    4/7/2016 10:44:22 PM

    4/7/2016 10:45:05 PM
  • Par for Shane Lowry on 17 but misses good chance for birdie. Danny Willett overdoes his approach on 18 which runs through the green and down the back. Rory approach on 17 just hangs onto the edge of the putting surface
    4/7/2016 11:02:21 PM
  • Rory (-3) lines up birdie putt on 17 - lets it go - but it's never close, always bending off to the left. tester now having taken 3 putts at the last. Meanwhile, Danny Willett (-3) chips superbly on 18 to rescue errant approach shot
    4/7/2016 11:04:37 PM
  • Sergio Garcia caps fine back nine with par at 18 for a -3 round. Rory (-3) nails tricky putt for par on 17
    4/7/2016 11:06:38 PM
  • Ow. Danny Willett makes mess of putt on 18. Will be fuming to drop shot there. It was five foot max and it lips out. Holes return but drops one on the last to shoot a 70
    4/7/2016 11:08:09 PM
  • Shane Lowry so close to bending 12ft birdie putt in on 18 but magnificent round of 68 for the Irishman. One ahead of the cluster of players on 3 under
    4/7/2016 11:11:52 PM
  • Just Rory's group left now. How Rory would like a birdie on the last to join Lowry on four under. His drive down 18 is perfect. 160 to the hole for Rory but hits a 9 iron into the bunker to the right of the green. Ta ta birdie. Can he rescue the par?
    4/7/2016 11:15:24 PM
  • Rory chunks it out of the bunker but it shoots past the hole. Sloppy approach and a poor finish to the day after dropping a shot at 16. Long putt for par but it never has the legs. Bogey, par, bogey to wrap it up for Rory. Poor finish but two under isn't the end of the world
    4/7/2016 11:22:45 PM
  • Jordan Spieth's day. Many tried to catch him but no one could and the Texan has a two-shot lead after day one.
