  • First up it's Tottenham v Southampton...
Southampton head for White Hart Lane today with the twin aims of overhauling Tottenham Hotspur in the race for a Europa League place and trying to persuade the club to extend the contract of their manager, Mauricio Pochettino.

  • Just under half an hour to go until kick off at White Hart Lane, so that makes it time for some team news...

Tottenham: Lloris; Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Rose; Lennon, Bentaleb, Chadli, Dembele, Eriksen; Soldado

Spurs make three changes to the team from last Sunday - Aaron Lennon, Nabil Bentaleb and Roberto Soldado coming in. Emmanuel Adebayor, has not managed to shake off an ankle problem and does not make the squad.

Southampton: Boruc, Clyne, Fonte, Lovren, Shaw, Cork, Ward-Prowse, S. Davis, Lallana, Rodriguez, Lambert.

Two changes to the Saints side which beat Norwich easily last weekend - Jack Cork comes back from injury and Rickie Lambert also returns to the starting line-up.

  • Some terrible Spurs merchandise on sale outside White Hart Lane

    3/23/2014 1:11:48 PM
  • Looks like there will be no repeat of Tim Sherwood's gilet throwing hijinks today:
"I'm going to go up top [directors' box] and have a look from there, to get a better view. You can't see the game properly from down there [in the dugout] and I'm getting involved in every little decision, which is possibly wrong."
    Tim Sherwood
    3/23/2014 1:20:47 PM
  • Just over five minutes to go and I'm cautiously optimistic of a good game coming up, perhaps only because Tim Sherwood's Spurs usually tend to provide one - not necessarily on purpose...
    3/23/2014 1:26:35 PM
  • Tottenham 0 Southampton 0: The players are out on the pitch, handshakes etc going on now. Kick off is imminent.
    3/23/2014 1:29:13 PM

  • 3/23/2014 1:29:55 PM
  • Tottenham 0 Southampton 0: We're off!
    3/23/2014 1:31:55 PM
  • Tottenham 0 Southampton 0: First corner of the game goes to Spurs, Vertonghen and Kaboul come up from the back. The latter getting a header in but it has no power and is straight at Boruc.
    3/23/2014 1:34:09 PM
  • Tottenham 0 Southampton 0: Chance for Southampton, Lambert gets played into the area but falters a little before laying it back to Lallana whose shot curls wide.
    3/23/2014 1:37:43 PM

  • 3/23/2014 1:39:22 PM
  • Tottenham 0 Southampton 0: Prescient from The Independent's Jack Pitt-Brooke, because Saints have the ball in the back of the net, but Rodriguez is just offside as he runs behind the Spurs defence.
    3/23/2014 1:40:37 PM
  • Tottenham 0 Southampton 0: Southampton certainly on top in the early exchanges, they look dangerous in attack and Tottenham's high line sure does look risky.
    3/23/2014 1:43:03 PM

  • Rickie Lambert setting up an early chance for Lallana

    3/23/2014 1:44:14 PM
  • Tottenham 0 Southampton 0: Corner to Spurs after some good work by Dembele, but it's ineffective and Saints get the ball away. Spurs come back in attack though and have a good chance although Chadli can't find a team mate with his cut back into the area. This game is livening up.
    3/23/2014 1:45:36 PM
  • GOAL! Tottenham 0 Southampton 1 - Jay Rodriguez
Well there was a crushing inevitability about the first goal coming like this, a goal kick from Artur Boruc evades everyone - Kyle Naughton in particular - and Rodriguez is clear through in the acres of space behind the Spurs defensive line. He runs into the area and very coolly slots the ball past Lloris into the far corner. Get him on the plane Roy!
    3/23/2014 1:48:58 PM
  • Tottenham 0 Southampton 1: Southampton pushing for another goal gere, Lallana has a tame shot easily saved.
    3/23/2014 1:55:01 PM
  • Tottenham 0 Southampton 1: A nice touch from Eriksen threatens to create a Spurs attack, but Danny Rose ensures things break down and immediately Southampton counter and have a shot deflected behind for a corner.
    3/23/2014 1:56:42 PM
  • GOAL! Tottenham 0 Southampton 2 - Adam Lallana
Saints double their lead as a mistake from the Tottenham defence gives the ball to Rickie Lambert on the edge of the area, he shows good strength to hold the ball up, Lallana makes a darting run outside him and is slipped the ball by Lambert. Lallana then opens his body up and coolly slots the ball with his left foot past Lloris. Great finish. Spurs looking dead and buried already.
    3/23/2014 1:58:05 PM

  • 3/23/2014 2:01:00 PM
  • GOAL! Tottenham 1 Southampton 2 - Christian Eriksen
That's a bad mistake from Nathaniel Clyne, he fails to deal with a cross that lands at his feet and the ball squirts to an unmarked Eriksen at the far post who smashes it home to get Spurs back in this game totally against the run of play.
    3/23/2014 2:01:55 PM

  • 3/23/2014 2:04:38 PM

  • Adam Lallana slots the second goal home for Southampton

    3/23/2014 2:06:02 PM

  • He's probably a bit happier now....
    3/23/2014 2:07:11 PM
  • Tottenham 1 Southampton 2: The game has calmed down a bit but needless to say it's still Southampton who look much more likely to score again. They have a corner after a long range strike is deflected behind, but Spurs clear easily. Five minutes to go until half time.
    3/23/2014 2:12:03 PM
  • Tottenham 1 Southampton 2: Oooh, Spurs could and perhaps should have scored. Soldado cushions down a cross with a fantastically soft touch straight into the path of Eriksen but the Dane can't beat Boruc from close range. Lovely set up by the Spaniard.
    3/23/2014 2:14:08 PM
Tottenham 1 Southampton 2 - Spurs actually end the half with a little spell of pressure. Interesting second half coming up I feel.
    3/23/2014 2:19:13 PM

  • 3/23/2014 2:22:23 PM

  • Look who's back in the dugout

    3/23/2014 2:23:53 PM
  • Tottenham 1 Southampton 2: Second half about to start and Spurs have replaced Dembele with Sigurdsson. Southampton have swapped Calum Chambers on for Nathaniel Clyne.
    3/23/2014 2:34:21 PM
  • GOAL! Tottenham 2 Southampton 2 - Christian Eriksen
Great work from Soldado, he hustles Lovren off the ball down by the right hand corner flag, runs into the box and fires a low cross to Eriksen who smashes home the equaliser unmarked from a yard out. What a start to the half.
    3/23/2014 2:34:55 PM

  • 3/23/2014 2:37:37 PM

  • 3/23/2014 2:38:41 PM

  • Eriksen celebrates scoring the equaliser

    3/23/2014 2:40:04 PM
  • Tottenham 2 Southampton 2: Well this is a very different game from the first half hour. Spurs very much in the ascendency at the moment as Chadli has a powerful shot from the right turned behind by Boruc. Which way will the game turn?
    3/23/2014 2:45:11 PM

  • 3/23/2014 2:47:01 PM
  • Tottenham 2 Southampton 2: Booking for Lovren, who has looked shaky in the last few minutes. Free kick for Spurs leads to a corner...
    3/23/2014 2:50:01 PM
  • Tottenham 2 Southampton 2: Gaston Ramirez comes on for goal scorer Jay Rodriguez. Can he make the difference?
    3/23/2014 2:55:33 PM
  • Tottenham 2 Southampton 2: Eriksen has a chance for a hat trick when he collects a ball over the top but his shot is deflected behind for a corner. Southampton clear though.
    3/23/2014 2:58:08 PM

  • A rare photo of Tim Sherwood not pointing and/or shouting while on the touchline

    3/23/2014 3:02:37 PM
  • Tottenham 2 Southampton 2: Into the final 15 minutes of this game and it feels like there could be a decisive goal in this tie. Unbelievably, given the way they started, Tottenham look the most likely to score it.
    3/23/2014 3:05:13 PM

  • 3/23/2014 3:06:43 PM
  • Tottenham 2 Southampton 2: Southampton now trying to exert a bit of pressure but Lallana sees his shot blocked.
    3/23/2014 3:10:50 PM
  • Tottenham 2 Southampton 2: Just over five minutes of normal time to go, but still no deciding goal...
