  • Welcome to The Independent's coverage of all today’s action in the Premier League.
What a thrilling day we have lined up, for once the hyperbole of Sky Sports' 'Super Sunday' seems somewhere near appropriate. First up is Manchester United v Liverpool and then we have the north London derby, as Arsenal travel to Spurs.

  • This match is the last thing David Moyes needs right now:

The fixtures stand before him like the peaks of a mountain range; Liverpool, Olympiakos, Manchester City. Unless at least one is conquered, then David Moyes's first season at Old Trafford will slither away into nothing.

    3/16/2014 1:27:13 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 0: We're off!
    3/16/2014 1:33:03 PM

  • 3/16/2014 1:40:14 PM
  • Man U have support in high places...

    3/16/2014 1:41:40 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 0: Liverpool look dangerous on the break, Sterling's pace already a worry for the United defence.
    3/16/2014 1:42:49 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 0: The game has settled down a bit, with neither side really able to create a clear chance yet. Rafael has done quite a lot of slipping over, but it hasn't really proved a great tactic so far.
    3/16/2014 1:47:11 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 0: Liverpool look the more likely to do something and Sturridge makes a probing run behind the defence but can't get any power on his shot and United clear. Rooney then makes a bulldozing run of his own, but again without troubling the goalkeeper.
    3/16/2014 1:53:09 PM

  • Suarez has an early penalty appeal turned down

    3/16/2014 1:57:55 PM
  • Good to see England's captain playing himself into some World Cup form...

    3/16/2014 1:59:03 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 0: Liverpool look much more dangerous as Joe Allen has a tame shot saved. Man United's defence just don't look like they can deal very del with Liverpool's attack.
    3/16/2014 2:02:05 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 0: Couple of bookings, one for Flanagan for persistent fouling, one for Rafael for a crunching tackle on Gerrard.
    3/16/2014 2:04:38 PM
  • PENALTY FOR LIVERPOOL
    3/16/2014 2:05:05 PM
  • Handball from Rafael, it's blatant and he's lucky not to get a second yellow card.
    3/16/2014 2:05:44 PM
  • GOAL! Man United 0 Liverpool 1 - Steven Gerrard (pen)
    3/16/2014 2:06:13 PM

  • 3/16/2014 2:09:06 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 1: Gerrard clatters into Fellaini leaving the Belgian bloodied. United look in disarray already. Not sure they've had a shot on goal yet.
    3/16/2014 2:10:53 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 1: Suddenly United appear to have realised they're playing a game here, Rafael picks out Van Persie in the box and he has a shot but it hits Skrtel on his big baldy head and goes out for a corner.
    3/16/2014 2:14:23 PM

  • 3/16/2014 2:15:35 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 1: A shot on target! A shot on target! United come roaring into the game, as Rooney stings Mignolet's palms with a shot that the Belgian keeper can only parry.
    3/16/2014 2:17:18 PM
  • HALF TIME
Man United 0 Liverpool 1 - Liverpool have looked much the better side than United who are lucky not to be down to 10 men.
    3/16/2014 2:20:10 PM

    3/16/2014 2:34:45 PM

    3/16/2014 2:35:54 PM

    3/16/2014 2:36:19 PM

  • Blimey...

    3/16/2014 2:41:07 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 2: Januzaj makes a speedy run into the box, desperately trying to inspire something, but the ball is put out for a corner and United can't capitalise. Good thing they've got the inspirational Cleverly on the bench to bring on...
    3/16/2014 2:46:31 PM

  • Steven Gerrard celebrates his second goal

    3/16/2014 2:50:25 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 2: The game has gone a bit scrappy but Liverpool won't care, United don't look like getting back into this at the moment. Carrick has been particularly poor.
    3/16/2014 2:53:04 PM

  • The United bench look cheerful...

    3/16/2014 2:54:57 PM
  • Man United 0 Liverpool 2: You could genuinely be forgiven for not knowing that Robin Van Persie was playing today. Meanwhile Rafael is again lucky not tot get a second yellow, this time clattering into Suarez. He's laughing about it in fact. What does he have to do to get sent off?
    3/16/2014 3:02:33 PM
  • MEANWHILE AT WHITE HART LANE:

    3/16/2014 3:04:10 PM
  •  Man United 0 Liverpool 2: Good(?) news for United, Moyes bringing on Cleverley and Welbeck. Moyes finally deciding to make a change.
    3/16/2014 3:06:38 PM
  • ANOTHER PENALTY!
    3/16/2014 3:07:06 PM
  • VIDIC SENT OFF
    3/16/2014 3:07:18 PM
  • It's a dive as well!
    3/16/2014 3:08:14 PM
  • GERRARD MISSES THE PENALTY!
    3/16/2014 3:09:10 PM
  • It's all kicking off now!
    3/16/2014 3:09:34 PM
  •  Man United 0 Liverpool 2: Now Liverpool should have had another penalty, Carrick clearly clattering Sturridge but Clattenburg doesn't give it. That was a definite penalty. Unbelievable.
