  • Five things Jose Mourinho needs to address if he's to stop Liverpool
Despite all Jose Mourinho's complaints, and all the pre-game complications, the reality of today is rather simple. Chelsea must avoid defeat at Anfield to stay in the title race, and beat Liverpool to turn it on its head. To do either, they will have to manage what virtually everyone else has found impossible: disrupt the most prolific English attack since 1945.

  • Looks like a nice day in Sunderland...

    4/27/2014 10:50:53 AM
  • Sunderland 0 Cardiff City 0: Five minutes until kick off, can either side get the win to drag themselves out of the bottom three?
    4/27/2014 10:56:41 AM
  • Sunderland 0 Cardiff City 0: We're off!
    4/27/2014 11:02:23 AM
  • Sunderland 0 Cardiff City 0: Early free kick for Sunderland is whipped into the box. It's very scrappy, there are shouts for handball and Cardiff struggle to clear, but the ball goes out for a corner.
    4/27/2014 11:05:22 AM
  • Sunderland 0 Cardiff City 0: Action at both ends now as Sunderland are forced into some defending but then launch a good counter of their own. There are goals in this game...
    4/27/2014 11:10:05 AM
  • Sunderland 0 Cardiff City 0: Both sides have been keen to attack but as yet struggling to penetrate, perhaps offering as good an explanation as any as to why they are the bottom two clubs in the league. It's been an entertaining if scrappy game so far.
    4/27/2014 11:23:50 AM

  • Nervous Ole?

    4/27/2014 11:25:07 AM
  • GOAL! Sunderland 1 Cardiff City 0 - Connor Wickham
Corner to Sunderland and it loops over everyone until bouncing up nicely for Wickham at the back post. The striker leaps like a dog trying to pluck a tennis ball out of the air and just nods it into the opposite side of the net. Deadlock broken.
    4/27/2014 11:26:45 AM

  • I expect he's a bit happier now...

    4/27/2014 11:41:01 AM
  • Sunderland 1 Cardiff City 0: Cardiff getting a bit more time on the ball now, but they can't seem to pierce the opposition defence. Half time approaching.
    4/27/2014 11:45:07 AM
  • PENALTY TO SUNDERLAND
    4/27/2014 11:45:19 AM

Cala fouled Wickham when through as the last man on goal. Wickham didn't go down as the referee waved play on but he brought it back for the original foul and sent Cala on his way.
    4/27/2014 11:46:14 AM
  • GOAL! Sunderland 2 Cardiff City 0 - Fabio Borini [pen]
    No mistake from the Italian.
    4/27/2014 11:46:48 AM
  • HALF TIME
    Sunderland 2 Cardiff City 0
    4/27/2014 11:49:23 AM

    4/27/2014 11:49:52 AM

  • Connor Wickham celebrates scoring the first goal

    4/27/2014 11:54:48 AM
  • Things are not looking good for Cardiff now. If this result stays the same they will find themselves bottom of the table, two points clear of safety and having played a game more than the sides above the drop. They are going to need a miracle from their ten men in the second half...
    4/27/2014 11:59:08 AM

  • 4/27/2014 12:01:17 PM

Subs: Hilario, Ake, Cahill, Van Ginkel, Baker, Willian, Torres
    4/27/2014 12:08:39 PM
  • Sunderland 2 Cardiff City 0: Bit of argy bargy and Fabio is getting very irate, he's been booked for shoving an opponent as he tried to get the ball back for a free kick.
    4/27/2014 12:12:21 PM

  • 4/27/2014 12:13:14 PM
  • Sunderland 2 Cardiff City 0: Corner to Cardiff, can they score? Jordon Mutch has a free header and he should score but it goes over. It goes without saying that they needed that.

    4/27/2014 12:21:27 PM

    4/27/2014 12:26:13 PM

  • The moment Juan Cala is sent off

    4/27/2014 12:30:27 PM
  • Sunderland 2 Cardiff City 0: Sunderland very close to a third, Larsson cutting back for Borini who smashes a close range flick straight into Marshall. It goes behind and should be a corner but the referee gives a goal kick for some reason.
    4/27/2014 12:32:02 PM
  • GOAL! Sunderland 3 Cardiff City 0 - Emanuele Giaccherini
Game over and it's thanks to Sunderland's Italians. Borini slips a reversed through ball through for his compatriot and Giaccherini slots it home for what has to be the goal that definitely decides this game.
    4/27/2014 12:35:18 PM

  • 4/27/2014 12:42:49 PM
  • GOAL! Sunderland 4 Cardiff City 0 - Connor Wickham
