  • The big story today is Ryan Giggs' start as a manager...

Sir Alex Ferguson has broken his silence over Manchester United’s future, declaring the club should turn to Ryan Giggs as David Moyes’s successor rather than launch their pursuit of an experienced manager such as Louis van Gaal.

  • However first up it's Southampton v Everton. Can Roberto Martinez's men get into the Champions League?

    4/26/2014 11:01:56 AM

  • 25 minutes until the first kick off and no prizes for guessing what the photographer at St Mary's is doing...

  • 4/26/2014 11:24:22 AM
  • Five minutes until kick off, can Everton keep themselves in the hunt for the final Champions League place?
    4/26/2014 11:42:29 AM
  • Southampton 0 Everton 0: And we're off...

    4/26/2014 11:46:54 AM
  • GOAL! Southampton 1 Everton 0 - Antolin Alcaraz o.g.
Rickie Lambert chips in a cross from the left after about 54 seconds and Alcaraz dives to try and head it behind but just manages to pick out the corner of his own net. Nightmare start for Everton.

  • 4/26/2014 11:50:50 AM

  • Whatever was said in this pre-match huddle seemed to do the trick

    4/26/2014 11:53:27 AM

  • 4/26/2014 11:54:54 AM
  • Southampton 1 Everton 0: Everton are still looking a bit shocked after their appalling start and Southampton sense another goal you feel. Adam Lallana looking bright.
    4/26/2014 11:59:55 AM

  • Alcaraz leaps like a salmon to head the ball into his own net

Much to the chagrin of his manager

    4/26/2014 12:02:15 PM
  • Southampton 1 Everton 0: Everton trying to get back in to the game, Leighton Baines whipping a cross in from the left but it's too close to Boruc who claims it easily. Barkley then gets forward well but Lovren deals with the danger.
    4/26/2014 12:06:13 PM
  • Southampton 1 Everton 0: Great play from Lambert and Southampton should have another. Lambert attacks down the left in a great counter attack and delays before picking out Davis with a great cut back. However the midfielder can only fire wide of the right hand post.
    4/26/2014 12:07:52 PM
  • Southampton 1 Everton 0: Lambert and Lallana are linking up very well (get 'em on the plane Roy) and Southampton look like they are close to extending their lead at St Mary's.
    4/26/2014 12:12:44 PM
  • GOAL! Southampton 2 Everton 0 - Seamus Coleman o.g.
Another own goal! Clyne crosses in from the right, the ball isn't particularly great but two Everton defenders fail to do anything with it, the third Coleman can only manage to head it into his own net. Comic stuff.
    4/26/2014 12:17:52 PM
  • Southampton 2 Everton 0: Everton desperately trying to create something to get back into this game but they are being thwarted so far. Lukaku getting caught offside.
    4/26/2014 12:27:43 PM

  • The second Everton own goal

    4/26/2014 12:32:06 PM
  • HALF TIME
Southampton 2 Everton 0 - Can the other half of Everton's back four score own goals in the next 45 minutes?
    4/26/2014 12:33:02 PM
  • Southampton 2 Everton 0: Second half underway now. Leon Osman on for Ross Barkley
    4/26/2014 12:51:03 PM

  • Tim Howard hasn't enjoyed his day much I would imagine

    4/26/2014 12:56:28 PM
  • Southampton 2 Everton 0: Everton have had the odd bright moment in this half but really it's all still Southampton. Gareth Barry has been particularly poor and he gives away a free kick. Lambert to take... POST! Just clips the outside of the right hand post and goes behind.
    4/26/2014 1:03:01 PM
  • Southampton 2 Everton 0: Oooh, that should be an Everton penalty. Osman makes a run down the right and Lovren dives in, Osman goes down but is booked for diving. That should have been a penalty to be honest, there was contact.
    4/26/2014 1:06:34 PM
  • Southampton 2 Everton 0: Everton so nearly score! Lukaku gets a powerful header to a cross, but it is straight at the keeper. Anywhere else that was a goal.
    4/26/2014 1:09:19 PM
  • Southampton 2 Everton 0: 20 minutes to go and still Everton can't find a way back into this game. They're trying hard but Southampton look fairly solid in defence and dangerous on the counter.
    4/26/2014 1:15:21 PM
  • Southampton 2 Everton 0: James Ward-Prowse is coming on for Southampton
    4/26/2014 1:19:25 PM
  • Southampton 2 Everton 0: Naismith makes a determined but ineffectual run into the box but is easily barged off the ball.
    4/26/2014 1:22:01 PM
  • Southampton 2 Everton 0: Less than ten minutes to go and Everton's Champions League dreams look to be well and truly over. Southampton now looking more likely to score the next goal. They've easily been the best team here.
    4/26/2014 1:27:24 PM
  • Southampton 2 Everton 0: Adam Lallana was replaced to a standing ovation from the crowd, surely he's on the plane to Brazil?
    4/26/2014 1:32:37 PM
  • FULL TIME
Southampton 2 Everton 0 - Two own goals have surely ended Everton's top four hopes.
    4/26/2014 1:36:59 PM

    4/26/2014 2:08:27 PM
  • GOAL! Swansea 1 Aston Villa 0 - Wilfried Bony
Jonjo Shelvey slots a ball through the middle for Bony who makes no mistake and calmly scores past Guzan. The home side lead.
    4/26/2014 2:10:44 PM
  • GOAL! West Brom 1 West Ham 0  - Saido Berahino
A great run from Sessegnon who finds Amalfitano who in turn fires a cross to Berahino who makes no mistake in slotting the ball home.
    4/26/2014 2:12:07 PM

  • Berahino celebrates his goal for West Brom

    4/26/2014 2:23:00 PM
  • GOAL! Swansea 1 Aston Villa 1 - Gabby Agbonlahor
It's all square! Albrighton plays in a low cross from the right and Agbonlahor gets there first to tuck the ball away.
    4/26/2014 2:23:44 PM
  • GOAL! Swansea 2 Aston Villa 1 - Jonjo Shelvey
FROM THE HALFWAY LINE! Shelvey chests down Guzan's free kick and then launches it from the centre circle back into the goal.
    4/26/2014 2:27:34 PM
  • GOAL! Stoke 0 Tottenham 1 - Danny Rose
This is all about the set up from Adebayor, he beats Whelan before getting a cross in. Rose makes no mistake with a bullet header.
    4/26/2014 2:34:41 PM

  • Bony scores Swansea's first
