  • WELCOME: Today marks the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy and to commemorate and remember all those who lost their lives all the fixtures this weekend will be kick off seven minutes later than normal.

That fateful day in 1989 was Liverpool and Nottingham Forest’s FA Cup semi-final abandoned after just six minutes because of the crowd trouble. To remember this, all today 3pm kick off will honour that six minutes plus an extra minute for a moment’s silence.

A great touch from the FA and football pays its respect to what was a truly awful day in English football’s long history.

  • THE FIXTURES: Fulham meet Norwich in a good old-fashioned ding-dong six pointer. Fulham are in the bottom three with Norwich tittering just above. If Norwich win this one, it could be curtains for Fulham.

Crystal Palace host Aston Villa with the victor surely securing safety and the loser being dumped into the mire once more.

Highflying Southampton could heap more misery on lonely Cardiff with the Welsh side having on of the toughest tasks in the league today, an away trip to St Marys.

Everton and Tottenham will want to capitalise on Arsenal’s focus on the FA Cup this weekend. The fifth and sixth place teams travel to Sunderland and West Brom respectively.

And, rounding it off, there’s a middle of the table clash between Stoke and Newcastle.

Plenty of big games and plenty of goals, hopefully. All the team news coming up.

    4/12/2014 1:23:49 PM

  • Hillsborough, alway poingant, always remembered
    4/12/2014 1:26:55 PM
  • KICK OFF TIMES: Every game across the land will start seven minutes later than normal today, why?? To remember the 96 people that lost their lives on that fateful day in 1989, that's why. A great touch from the FA and there's sure to be poingant scenes of emotion and remembrance all over the country today.
    4/12/2014 1:29:37 PM
  • PLENTY TO PLAY FOR: There's a whole bunch to play for today, that's for sure. Fulham and Norwich is probably the most vital of all though. If there as ever been a six pointer, it's this! Fulham are on 27 points with Norwich on 32. A win for the Canaries today could well be the final nail in Fulham's coffin.
    4/12/2014 1:34:28 PM

  • All to play for, should be a cracker!
    4/12/2014 1:36:00 PM

  • Palace fan gets the low down before their game with Villa

St Marys' does have some nice walls

Who buys a Simpsons themed football scarf???

    4/12/2014 1:40:01 PM
  • Just under half an hour to go then and then it's 'Premier League are go'!
    4/12/2014 1:40:47 PM
  • RACE FOR FOURTH PLACE: With Arsenal occupied with the FA Cup today, the door is open for Everton and Tottenham to pile the pressure on the Gunners. Everton are just a point off fourth and Spurs just five adrift. Big away wins for both (or either) today will really put the cat among the pigeons.
    4/12/2014 1:43:25 PM

  • The north London bunch aren't all that imaginative on Twitter at the mo but COME ON YOU SPURS does get the message across, I guess.
    4/12/2014 1:45:20 PM

  • Some Toffees getting excited too and why not, their team is flying.
    4/12/2014 1:46:50 PM
  • PALACE VILLA 34: The winner of this won will reach 37 points and surely be all but safe, the other will be looking back down and getting worried again. They both have 34 points currently and sit just above that perilous bottom three. Who will take these all important points and who will have it all to do in the run-in?
    4/12/2014 1:51:03 PM

  • Palace players get going in the warm up today...

as does a very cool Ryan Bertrand...

and a slightly less cool Brad Guzan

    4/12/2014 1:54:18 PM
  • HILLSBOROUGH: Football must take a back seat sometimes and today is certainly one of those days. Wreaths are being placed down around the country to remember the 96 and a minute silence will be held before every game in the football league today.
    4/12/2014 1:56:19 PM
  • TEN MINUTES: Just ten little minutes to go then. Grab a drink, maybe a snack too and get ready for all the drama, thrills and spills that only Premier League football can provide.
    4/12/2014 1:57:42 PM
  • GAME OF THE DAY?: Where are the goals to come from today then? Sunderland? Palace? Southampton? Plenty of big games in contention, let's find out!
    4/12/2014 2:01:29 PM
  • 3PM!!: I know it's three but we're not going just yet. All the games are being put back by six minutes to remember the Hillsborough disaster and an extra 60 seconds for a moment's silence. A really good touch from the FA.
    4/12/2014 2:03:09 PM

  • Pretty badges!

Its an EAGLE! and I don't mean in the golf

    The Stoke canal, looking fab
    4/12/2014 2:07:44 PM
  • MINUTES SILENCE: The players all bow their heads, a hush comes over the land.
    4/12/2014 2:08:16 PM
  • HILLSBOROUGH: Beautiful observed in the league grounds and now football time!
    4/12/2014 2:09:39 PM
  • And we're underway!!!
    4/12/2014 2:09:47 PM
  • GOAL!!! West Brom 1 Tottenham 0, Matej Vydra scores within 20 seconds, what a start for the Baggies!
    4/12/2014 2:10:09 PM
  • GOAL!!!: West Brom 2 Tottenham 0, Chris Brunt makes it two with only four minutes gone. Amazing, amazing stuff, West Brom in dream land and Spurs have it all to do already. Super strike from Brunt.
    4/12/2014 2:13:08 PM
  • What a start at the Hawthorns then, 2-0 already and the boing-boing Baggies are in heaven. No goals anywhere else just as yet.
    4/12/2014 2:14:56 PM
  • Everton start well and why wouldn't they? Full of confidence and showing it with some nice early passing.
    4/12/2014 2:15:44 PM
  • GREAT SAVE: Fulham on top in their relegation battle with Norwich early on but it's the home keeper forced into action first. Nathan Redmond's shot come cross nearly catches out David Stockdale but the 'keeper does well.
    4/12/2014 2:17:43 PM
  • Not much going on at the Britannia so far this afternoon, both teams easing into this one.
    4/12/2014 2:18:53 PM
  • Apart from at the Hawthorns, no goal as of yet elsewhere in the Prem.
    4/12/2014 2:19:38 PM

  • A minute silence, perfectly observe

    4/12/2014 2:22:27 PM
  • HIT THE POST: Stoke and Newcastle was dull, not anymore though. Peter Crouch thuds a header against the upright and then Ryan Gosling nearly comes straight back to misses a sitter. Could be 1-1 but still goalless.
    4/12/2014 2:24:34 PM
  • PENALTY!: Tottenham get a penalty for a foul on Danny Rose but Adebayor steps up and completely messes it up, awful, awful spot kick.
