FT: West Brom 2 Chelsea 3

John Terry was sent off as Chelsea sneaked a 3-2 victory away at West Brom to alleviate their early-season woes.

A kaleidoscopic first-half is drawn to a close as Chelsea trudge down the tunnel with a 3-1 advantage to protect in the second period. Pedro marked his debut with a tidy opener before Diego Costanotched an effort beyond Boaz Myhill.

James Morrison then made amends for his missed penalty, saved by Thibaut Courtois early on, to pull one back. Cesar Azpilicueta, however, was on hand to resume normal order before the break.

West Brom had the visitors worrying about a comeback in the second half after Morrison's strike but, without Terry, the Blues held out to claim their first victory of the season.

As events at the Hawthorns suggest another Chelsea bid for John Stones, after John Terry's sending off, Everton boss Roberto Martinez refuses to drop the England man.

Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku continue in the attacking positions for the Toffess, unsurprisingly, after their explosive exploits at St Mary's last week.

Manchester City go into this fixture on the back of a stunning 3-0 victory over Chelsea seven days ago and name an unchanged line-up.

Everton: Howard, Galloway, Jagielka (c), Stones, Coleman, Barry, McCarthy, Cleverley, Barkley, Kone, Lukaku.

Subs: Robles, Mirallas, Naismith, Besic, Deulofeu, Osman, Browning.

Manchester City: Hart, Kolarov, Kompany (c), Mangala, Sagna, Fernandinho, Toure, Sterling, Silva, Navas, Aguero.

Subs: Caballero, Nasri, Bony, Delph, Demichelis, Denayer, Iheanacho.

9 mins - Everton 0 Man City 0: David Silva and Jesus Navas combine expertly down the right wing before the former crosses for Sergio Aguero in the box. The Argentine, who squandered a series of early chances last week against Chelsea, misses his second opportunity of the afternoon.

    HT - Everton 0 Manchester City 0

Both sides have enjoyed decent spells of dominance and Tim Howard has been the busier of the two goalkeepers but Everton will go into the second half content with their efforts. Sergio Aguero continues to be City's main threat but Romelu Lukaku could have scored the opener at the end.

In a half which has failed to entertain even the most hardened of supporters of either club, both Watford and Southampton continue to play out an affair which looks destined to end in stalemate.

Everton fail to match the highs of last week as Manchester City emerge from Goodison Park with all three points, propelling them to the top of the Premier League table.
