  • And the team's are in! Tom Cleverley starts his first match for United in exactly one month, but Ryan Giggs, after his imperious performance against Olympiakos in the Champions League last week, fails to make the squad.

    3/25/2014 7:17:01 PM

    3/25/2014 7:18:13 PM
  • For Arsenal, manager Arsene Wenger has made two changes to his team from their 6-0 thrashing at Chelsea on Saturday for tonight's match against Swansea at the Emirates Stadium - bringing in club captain Thomas Vermaelen for the injured Laurent Koscielny, and Mathieu Flamini for Lukas Podolski.

Vermaelen has not started for the Gunners in the Premier League since Boxing Day, when the club won 3-1 at West Ham.

Kim Kallstrom makes the Arsenal bench for the second successive match.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Flamini, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky, Cazorla, Giroud
    3/25/2014 7:19:27 PM
  • While United have struggled in every competition except the Champions League this season, manager David Moyes has warned his counterpart Manuel Pellegrini that their time at the top of the tree will come again:

I don't think I would have turned round and said that we were the only club in Manchester because football does change. It goes in cycles

  • Here is tonight's programme, should you be interested...

    3/25/2014 7:26:18 PM
  • David Moyes offered glowing praise for Wayne Rooney in his press briefing. He did score from the half-way line the other day of course..

Everyone who knew Wayne Rooney in his early days would say one of the biggest things about him was that he had big energy and a big heart and if you get Wayne playing like that then the rest of his football takes care of itself

  • The selection of Cleverley has certainly raised a few concerns from the Twittersphere:

    3/25/2014 7:39:30 PM
  • And the teams emerge from the tunnel at Old Trafford. Another new low for Moyes this season or a thrilling victory to quieten down their  "noisy neighbours"?
    3/25/2014 7:43:25 PM
  • 1 min: City get us under way. Can they beat United at Old Trafford for the third match in a row?
    3/25/2014 7:45:51 PM
  • GOAL! MAN CITY SCORE!
    3/25/2014 7:46:14 PM
  • 1 min: What a terrific start for the visitors! Fernandinho plays in Nasri, he twists and turns Ferdinand but clatters his effort off the post...but it rebounds into the path of Dzeko to smash in from a couple of yards. Unbelievable. 1-0 after just 42 seconds!
    3/25/2014 7:48:05 PM
  • 3 min: City aren't letting up. They are dominating United. Pellegrini's side sense blood. United's players will be remembering that 6-1 rout in 2011 at the moment. A corner comes to nothing and United look to get a foothold in the game.
    3/25/2014 7:51:00 PM
  • 5 min: Fernandinho looking impressive in the middle of the field already, so much busier than Fellaini and Cleverley.
    3/25/2014 7:53:31 PM
  • 7 min: Not even 10 minutes played and frustration creeping into the game of United's downbeat players. Fellaini looking like he took a kick at the back of Silva's leg there.
    3/25/2014 7:54:39 PM
  • 9 min: Silva is put through by Toure as City charge forward but his effort is blocked. The match starting in worryingly similar way to Chelsea's demolition of Arsenal at the moment.
    3/25/2014 7:56:35 PM
  • 10 min: Valencia is getting ready to come on already. One unlucky United player will have his match curtailed incredibly early..
    3/25/2014 7:58:00 PM
  • Over at the Emirates, Swansea have taken a shock lead against wounded Arsenal. Bony beating Vermaelen in the air to score a header.
    3/25/2014 7:58:47 PM
  • 3/25/2014 8:00:35 PM
  • 15 min: Drama at Old Trafford. In full flight, Welbeck powers forward and runs straight through Zabaleta in a painful clash of shins. As soon as Welbeck gets to his feet he is awarded a yellow card. That looked nasty.
    3/25/2014 8:02:21 PM
  • 19 min: Chances at both ends. First Silva put through Dzeko but his tame effort is stopped by De Gea, then United charge ahead but Kompany was there to cut out Rooney's low cross. The Rooney plays a through ball to Welbeck but the moves comes to nothing. Both teams going hell for leather.
    3/25/2014 8:05:50 PM
  • 21 min: Nasri beginning to dictate proceedings for City. United's midfield confused by the movement of the former Arsenal man.
    3/25/2014 8:08:22 PM
  • Move aside Lionel Messi (or Maradona). Everton's Ross Barkley has just dribbled from inside his own half to open the scoring against Newcastle at St James' Park.
    3/25/2014 8:09:36 PM
  • 24 min: Fellaini, who has yet to get on the right side of the United faithful, just missed the chance to earn some much-needed brownie points. Rooney crosses, and on the half-volley, Fellaini's effort hits the target, but it is well saved by England's No 1.
    3/25/2014 8:12:13 PM
  • 29 min: Approaching the half-hour mark and finally the game slows down a touch. Old Trafford collectively takes a breath. Has been played at break-neck pace this one..
    3/25/2014 8:15:30 PM
  • A great night to be playing away it seems. 1-0 to all of the visitors. But the best trip of all will be for Bayern Munich, United's next opponents in the Champions League. They are 2-0 up at Hertha Berlin, and should they win they will seal the Bundesliga title...in March.
    3/25/2014 8:17:47 PM
  • 35 min: 10 minutes until half-time, United's turn to play the ball around now. Rooney, who has not scored at home in five months, ups the pace every time he touches the ball. How he would love to end his Old Trafford drought tonight.
    3/25/2014 8:21:40 PM

  • 3/25/2014 8:22:47 PM
  • 37 min: Evra runs into some space down the left and crosses to Welbeck but Hart comes out to the collect. Old Trafford raises a decibel level or two. Encouraging few minutes from the champions.
    3/25/2014 8:24:36 PM
  • 39 min: This time it's down the other wing for United. Right-back Rafael fires in a low cross, Rooney miscues his effort, taking an air kick, but the ball still reaches Mata on the edge of the area. He gets his shot off but skies it over.
    3/25/2014 8:26:37 PM

  • 3/25/2014 8:27:35 PM
  • 42 min: Now Rooney crosses into the path of Fellaini, but Clichy makes a timely interception. Has been a fine end to the half for United this, they must have been still in shock for the first 35 minutes.
    3/25/2014 8:29:14 PM
  • 44 min: Demichelis tackles Welbeck for a corner right on the stroke of half time. How many times did United score at this time under Sir Alex Ferguson? The ball is lofted in, Evra runs to meet it but Hart punches away, Three minutes of added on time remain.
    3/25/2014 8:31:14 PM
  • HT: And that's it for a thrilling first half, one that burst into life before a minute was even played. To their credit, United recovered well to stay in the match and finished as the stronger team. The second half can't come soon enough...
    3/25/2014 8:33:48 PM
  • Also half-time at the Emirates, where boos met the whistle with the Gunners trailing 1-0 to Swansea.
    3/25/2014 8:35:29 PM
  • In the break, Kagawa has replaced Cleverley. Moyes hoping for more incision..
    3/25/2014 8:49:55 PM
  • 46 min: And United start the second half. Can they start the second period in the same way they ended the first?
    3/25/2014 8:50:43 PM
  • 47 min: No they can't. It's been all City so far. First Dzeko having an effort cleared by Ferdinand and the Zabaleta, who was in the wars in the first half, having his volley deflected wide.
    3/25/2014 8:52:49 PM
  • Lukaku makes it 2-0 to Everton at St James' Park. Wherever Alan Pardew is watching he won't be best pleased.
    3/25/2014 8:54:37 PM
  • 52 min: United chasing shadows at the moment. Only one team has emerged from the break. Nasri with the corner, Kompany heads onto the path of Fernandinho, and only six yards away from goal he heads over. He might not have known much about that one but the more you see the replays the greater a chance it looks.
    3/25/2014 8:58:44 PM
  • 54 min: Demichelis has had his critics this season. In fact, Demichelis has had an awful lot of critics this season. But he just made fine interception there to set City on an attack. He'll probably score a own goal or get sent off now...
    3/25/2014 9:00:11 PM
  • GOAL! 2-0 TO CITY!
    3/25/2014 9:00:22 PM
  • 56 min: Game, set and match? Nasri lofts in a corner, Dzeko makes a cunning run across the area, gets free of Ferdinand and volleys home.
    3/25/2014 9:02:55 PM
  • 59 min: Rafael bombs forward but his cross can't reach a target. If United come back from this one somehow it would be Moyes' greatest achievement.
    3/25/2014 9:06:14 PM
  • 63 min: The chant of "Fergie give us a wave" filling the air at Old Trafford. Those noisy neighbours...
    3/25/2014 9:08:46 PM
  • 65 min: "Moyesie is the chosen one", they sing now...
    3/25/2014 9:11:03 PM
  • 66 min: Fellaini wins a header but it goes well wide. That was the last piece of action he will have in this match. He's just been taken off and replaced by Valencia. Another ineffective display from the Belgian.
    3/25/2014 9:12:25 PM
  • 69 min: Chance for a third for City. Fernandinho is put through but he can only smash the ball over. No fight from United in this second half whatsoever..
    3/25/2014 9:14:48 PM
  • He's only been on the field a couple of minutes, but Podolski has equalised for Arsenal at the Emirates. Finishing from Gibbs' cross
    3/25/2014 9:16:09 PM
  • And what a turnaround for the Gunners! Now it's 2-1. Giroud this time with the goal.
    3/25/2014 9:16:53 PM
  • 75 min: Absolutely woeful from United in the second period. Hernandez comes on for Welbeck. Can the 'Suprt Sub' get them back in this?
    3/25/2014 9:20:53 PM
  • Big news from the Emirates! Kim Kallstrom has come on to finally make his Arsenal debut. Many thought this day would never come...
    3/25/2014 9:22:07 PM

  • 3/25/2014 9:22:48 PM
  • 78 min: There will be hat-trick for Dzeko tonight. He's been brought off for "The Beast", or Alvaro Negredo as he is otherwise known.
    3/25/2014 9:24:36 PM
  • 3/25/2014 9:25:29 PM
  • 82 min: The game reaches it final stages, and United looking very tired out there. They were on the up just before half-time, but emerged for the second period painfully flat. What was said at half-time I wonder?
    3/25/2014 9:28:01 PM
  • And Everton score a third at St James' Park, this time it's Leon Osman.
    3/25/2014 9:30:04 PM
  • 85 min: Valencia looks to push the advancing Zabaleta to the ground in the area but no penalty is given. No penalty awarded. Correct decsion.
    3/25/2014 9:32:40 PM
  • Heartbreak at the Emirates! Mathieu Flamini own goal after Leon Britton's effort.
    3/25/2014 9:33:40 PM
  • GOAL! 3-0 to CITY!
    3/25/2014 9:34:31 PM
  • 90 min: In acres of space, Toure takes a touch after Milner's pass deflected off Jones. He looks up and arrows his shot into the bottom left hand corner. Another comprehensive defeat for Moyes this season.
    3/25/2014 9:36:40 PM
  • FT: And it's all over. City win three league games in a row at Old Trafford for the first time in 42 years. Deserved victory for Pellegrini's side. They were the only team to emerge for the second half. City visit Arsenal on Saturday with their tails up. All United can look forward to now is German giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League. They won the Bundesliga title tonight, in case you didn't know...
