    8/8/2015 4:28:24 PM
  • Falcao on the bench. He's got a lot to prove this season but he faces an uphill struggle in taking the starting position from Costa.
    8/8/2015 4:30:49 PM
  • Chelsea 0-0 Swansea - 1 min: And that's the whistle! We're under way.
    8/8/2015 4:31:23 PM
  • Chelsea 0-0 Swansea - 1 min: Corner in the first minute after Hazard picks up the ball in the middle and plays it out wide to Willian who is tackled by Gomis. Nothing comes of the corner though and Costa ends up volleying the ball into the side-netting.
    8/8/2015 4:33:04 PM
  • Chelsea 0-0 Swansea - 3 min: Chelsea are looking very aggressive in their pressing game. You'd expect nothing else from the champions though.
    8/8/2015 4:34:41 PM
  • Chelsea 0-0 Swansea - 4 min: Oscar has gone down from what looks like a stray arm from Ki. He's alright now though and back up on his feet.
    8/8/2015 4:36:00 PM
  • Chelsea 0-0 Swansea - 6 min: Fabregas gets caught in possession by Montero who wins a corner for Swansea. A dangerous ball is put in and Gomis raises above Ivanovic to meet the ball. His header goes wide of the post but he should have really done better there. A solid chance for the visitors.
    8/8/2015 4:39:03 PM
  • Chelsea 0-0 Swansea - 8 min: Hazard receives the ball outside the penalty box from Fabregas and places an intricate ball forward for Costa to run on to behind the Swansea defence. But he can't quite reach it and Fabianski claims the ball.
    8/8/2015 4:40:40 PM
  • Chelsea 0-0 Swansea - 10 min: Ivanovic of all people drives forward into midfield and tries his luck with a 35-yard shot out of nowhere really - to no avail though. Optimistic to say the least.
    8/8/2015 4:42:47 PM
  • Chelsea 0-0 Swansea - 13 min: Chelsea are really badgering their opponents and giving them next to no time on the ball. From a throw-in the ball gets recycled and is shipped out to the left to Ivanovic who ends up giving away a cheap free-kick.
    8/8/2015 4:45:22 PM
  • Chelsea 0-0 Swansea - 15 min: Gomis finds himself one-on-one with Courtois! He really should have hit first time their but he hesitates, cuts in aside and shots to no avail as the Chelsea keeper blocks the shot. From there, the ball heads up to the other end of the pitch and Costa finds himself on goal from the left only to be brought down by a strong, but legal, challenge from Fernandez. The ball goes out for a corner but nothing comes of it.
    8/8/2015 4:48:14 PM
  • Chelsea 0-0 Swansea - 17 min: Shelvey sees yellow for an unnecessary tackle on Oscar. Storms into the back of the Chelsea player right under the ref's nose. Wreckless.
    8/8/2015 4:50:06 PM
  • Chelsea 0-0 Swansea - 18 min: Chelsea get a free-kick on the right-hand side of the penalty box. Oscar steps up but his cross or shot (he didn't really seem to know what it was himself...) sails through the box without touching a single player and goes out for a goal kick. A wasted opportunity.
    8/8/2015 4:52:11 PM

  • After intial doubts, Costa has started in today's game.

    8/8/2015 4:53:14 PM
  • GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Swansea - 22 min
    8/8/2015 4:53:40 PM
  • Goal! Chelsea 1-0 Swansea - 22 min: That's an annoying goal to concede. It's another free-kick but on the left-hand side of the box. Again, Oscar steps up and delivers a cross which evades the players and finds its way in the bottom left corner. The keeper was blocked by a forest of players but he really should have done better there.
    8/8/2015 4:55:30 PM
  • Chelsea 1-0 Swansea - 25 min: Willian takes a tight shot from the right hand of the box but it shoots past the post.
    8/8/2015 4:59:23 PM
  • GOAL! Chelsea 1-1 Swansea -29 min: Ayew scores
    8/8/2015 4:59:41 PM
  • GOAL! Chelsea 1-1 Swansea - 29 min: After dancing about on the edge of the box, Montero whips a ball in the box which finds Gomis. His header is saved but falls to the feet of Ayew who, after initially fumbling, steadies himself and drills the ball into the back of the net.
    8/8/2015 5:01:46 PM
  • GOAL! Chelsea 2-1 Swansea - 30 min: Fernandez o.g.
    8/8/2015 5:02:30 PM
  • GOAL! Chelsea 2-1 Swansea - 30 min:  That really didn't last long. 90 seconds after equalising, Swansea are down again. Chelsea storm back into Swansea' final third and a shot takes a huge deflection off Fernandez and ends up lobbing Fabianski who really couldn't do much about that.
    8/8/2015 5:04:29 PM
  • Chelsea 2-1 Swansea - 34 min: Costa wins a corner for the Blues and Oscar steps up to deliver a weak corner which is easily cleared. To use a much exhausted cliche, this is end-to-end stuff and football neutrals will be delighted with what they're seeing so far. For Swansea on the other hand, they'll be scratching their heads over that second goal.
    8/8/2015 5:07:15 PM
  • Chelsea 2-1 Swansea - 37 min: Swansea enjoy some brief build-up play which culminates in an impressive 20- yard shot from Sigurdsson. Courtois parries and the Blues storm forward again after picking up the stray ball.
    8/8/2015 5:09:47 PM
  • Chelsea 2-1 Swansea - 39 min: After 40 intense minutes, the game comes to a much-needed lull as Ki receives treatment in the middle of the pitch. Players will appreciate the breather but that's the end of Ki's game as he's replaced by Jack Cork - not what Swansea need right now.
    8/8/2015 5:12:43 PM
  • Substitution for Swansea City - 41 min: Jack Cork replaces Ki Sung-yeung
    8/8/2015 5:13:27 PM
  • Chelsea 1-0 Swansea - 42 min: Montero weaves his way forward through the Chelsea outfield and plays a neat ball down the left. But it's quickly snapped up by Chelsea and the ball finds itself in the centre of the park for a Chelsea free-kick after Fabregas is fouled.
    8/8/2015 5:15:13 PM
  • Chelsea 2-1 Swansea - 45 min: Hazard picks up the ball on the right and drives forward into the corner but finds himself surrounded by three Swansea players. He does well though and earns the Blues a free-kick before half-time. It's headed away though but Chelsea are still in a dangerous position with a throw-in in Swansea's final third. Three minutes of extra time.
    8/8/2015 5:17:19 PM
  • Chelsea 2-1 Swansea - 45 + 1 min: Jack Cork earns himself a yellow card for holding back Matic having seen that Swansea had over-committed themselves up front.
    8/8/2015 5:19:29 PM
  • HALF TIME: Chelsea 2-1 Swansea City: Compared to the relatively slow-paced opener at Old Trafford, this game hasn't held back. While Chelsea are unsurprisingly on top, Swansea are still in this game and have posed a significant threat at times.

Chelsea have looked particularly strong though on the counter and their best chances have come on the break. It's been fast-paced and exciting football - something we all love to see. Chelsea have been anything but boring and there's been no signs of the Mourinho bus being parked.
