  • DAY 3: Back at the home, the mecca of golf, the perfect Augusta National Park. Set in the heart of Georgia, the course is looking wonderful on the third day of this year’s tournament, as it has done all week long.

The snooker-table greens framed with springtime flowers in full bloom, corridors of giant trees and pristine white sand bunkers glittering along the way. It really is a lovely place to play and watch some fine sport.

The course caught many out in the first two days with the hot sun baking the greens and making them lightning fast and many players had tricky wind condition to deal with as well. It has claimed many big names already with Bubba Watson setting a tricky cut and seeing some pre-tournament favourite drop out.

But, whose going to be the one to deal with everything the best and post that magic score at the start of the weekend? Will Bubba continue his dominance or is the jacket going somewhere else?

Augusta is where legends can be made, history is forged and the best can take their place among the sport’s elite. Da, da, daaaa. Sorry, getting a bit carried but it’s hard not too on a weekend of sport like this one! Let the games resume!

  • THE COURSE: Before we get going properly, how about a little reminder of the course, shall we? Augusta. The most famous of all golf courses and probably the most beautiful setting in all of sport. From Amen corner, Rae’s Creek and Eisenhower’s Tree, there’s plenty to get stuck on but plenty of opportunity to become a legend and even more chances to make mistakes. What’s the deal with the famous 18 holes then?

    Rory McIlroy

    Miguel Angel Jimenez

    Francesco Molinari
    4/12/2014 6:48:23 PM
  • IN THE CLUBHOUSE: Jimenez can lit up that cigar now as he completes the best round of the week so far. His 66 is enough to take him to joint third. Jose Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke are also home but no great challenge from either.
    4/12/2014 6:51:58 PM
  • BUBBA WATSON: Our leader is out on the course, here we go!
    4/12/2014 6:55:49 PM
  • JIM FURYK: Sir Jim is rolling back the years early on here with two early birdies to jump to three under.
    4/12/2014 6:57:23 PM
  • RICKIE FOWLER: The baseball cap is starting to get going too. Four holes to go and he is at one under with time to make that much better.
    4/12/2014 6:59:22 PM
  • MIGUEL ANGEL JIMENEZ: What a round from the pony tail! Five birdies on the back nine and he might well be a force tomorrow.
    4/12/2014 7:00:37 PM
  • POOR STARTS: Bubba Watson and John Senden both start in slightly shaky ways, both bogeying the first.
    4/12/2014 7:02:52 PM

  • Bubba bogeys the first.
    4/12/2014 7:04:21 PM
  • IAN POULTER: In out, in out, Poulter's all about. The Brit is back to level par with two quick bogeys undoing his earlier good work.
    4/12/2014 7:07:52 PM

  • Bit more of KG, roll up, roll up
    4/12/2014 9:10:37 PM
  • LEE WESTWOOD: Lee slips back slightly with a bogey at the 17th, only one to go for him.
    4/12/2014 9:11:44 PM
  • JONAS BLIXT: The Swed doesn't like that nasty little hole 11 one bit. Following a double there yesterday, Blixt bogeys it today to go level with Furyk.
    4/12/2014 9:14:03 PM

  • Just beautiful

    Just magical

    Just wonderful

    4/12/2014 9:24:44 PM
  • LEE WESTWOOD: Westy is back in the hutch with his round of 70 leaving him at two under and well in the hunt.
    4/12/2014 9:25:37 PM
  • IN THE CLUBHOUSE: Quite a few back home then. Martin Kaymer and Hunter Mahan go in at four over. Henrick Stenson, Bernhard Langer and Louis Oosthuizen are also home and sit at plus three.
    4/12/2014 9:28:04 PM
  • LEADERS: The leaders are having a little lull in play for now, most probably before a final onslaught. No change for a while but that won't last long! The greens are starting to look a touch silvery, even brownish dare I say it, either way, they are lightning fast!
    4/12/2014 9:30:55 PM

  • The Twittersphere just loves the Masters, straight up, no messing.
    4/12/2014 9:32:27 PM
  • FRED COUPLES: Veteran Freddie is still going strong. Back-to-back birdies at 13 and 14 take him up to two under.
    4/12/2014 9:33:31 PM
  • JIM FURYK: Jimmy takes six at the 15th after finding the water to drop to three under and gives Jonas Blixt sole ownership of camp four under.
    4/12/2014 9:36:19 PM
  • THE FIELD: Just a reminder we have 51 of the original 96 playing today after Bubba's tough cut got rid of a whole bunch last night.
    4/12/2014 9:39:40 PM
  • LEADERBOARD: Big changes again! Bubba takes back control after mistakes from Kuchar and Bjorn mean they drop down. Jordan Spieth does join the four under club but Bubba now has a two shot lead again.
    4/12/2014 9:44:03 PM
  • MATT KUCHAR: The first real mistake of his round comes right at the end. Kuch bogeys the last to finish with a round of 68, a great round nonetheless but slightly dented at the last.
    4/12/2014 9:46:04 PM

  • You may love it, you may hate it, but Twitter is a good old laugh!
    4/12/2014 9:49:20 PM

  • Thomas Bjorn lets one go

Adam Scott say thanks to the Patrons

On the up and up for Kuch

    4/12/2014 9:55:04 PM
  • AT THE TOP: A few mistakes creeping into the group behind Bubba but nothing of the sort from Jordan Spieth. The youngest sinks two birdies in a row to get right up behind our leader.
    4/12/2014 9:56:37 PM
  • FRED AND JOHN: Freddie Couple and John Senden are still right there or there about at two under with only a few left to play each. Don't count either out yet.
    4/12/2014 10:00:24 PM
  • THE GREEN JACKET: Where is it going to go and who will put on that famous piece of apparel tomorrow evening?? Bubba's looking good still but Spieth, Kuchar and Bjorn are all pushing him hard as we speak. Will it be one of these four or someone else completely? Place your bets now!
    4/12/2014 10:02:49 PM

  • The young man Spieth is a big hit on the old W.W.W.
    4/12/2014 10:04:46 PM
  • DAY THREE: We're coming to the last few holes on the third day of this year's Masters and what a great day it's been, probably the best so far, no definitely the best! What will happen to end the day???
    4/12/2014 10:07:00 PM
  • IN THE CLUBHOUSE: A couple of big names at the start of the day have reached the end and are back in the showers. Kevin Stadler managed a round of 72 for a card of one under for the tournament but Wales' Jamie Donaldson didn't do so well and his 76 leaves him at plus three.
    4/12/2014 10:12:29 PM
  • JIM FURYK: Sir Jim is back home too and a sting in the tail for his round has put a downer on what was shaping up to be something very good. Two bogeys in the last four give him a round of 72 and is two under.
    4/12/2014 10:14:57 PM
  • JONAS BLIXT: Sweden's finest joins Spieth in second place with two quick birdies at 15 and 16, the latter being a real pearler of putt. Thomas Bjorn drops down though, with a bogey at 15.
    4/12/2014 10:17:46 PM
  • THE 17TH: Jimmy Walker and Adam Scott have not really got going all day long and could be out of contention for the title. Both are at plus one with only the 18th to go.
    4/12/2014 10:19:58 PM

  • Couples always turns up at Augusta!
    4/12/2014 10:23:02 PM
  • FRED COUPLES: He loves it here and the Patrons love him. Freddie's home in 73.
    4/12/2014 10:24:02 PM
  • BUBBA WATSON: Another slip up for Bubba, this time a bogey at the 16th, and it sends the unlikely duo of Spieth and Blixt back to a joint lead with the 2012 champ. Far from vintage Watson today.
    4/12/2014 10:27:56 PM
  • GOING DOWN: Couple of players make quick fire mistakes. Bjorn and Blixt both drop shots at the 17th.
    4/12/2014 10:30:50 PM
  • JORDAN SPIETH: Fantastic work from the youngest! Are we seeing a future star here? After consecutive birdies on 14 and 15, Spieth gets home all safe for a round of 70 and the joint lead of five under. Dallas will be rocking tonight.
