  • DAY 3: Back at the home, the mecca of golf, the perfect Augusta National Park. Set in the heart of Georgia, the course is looking wonderful on the third day of this year’s tournament, as it has done all week long.

The snooker-table greens framed with springtime flowers in full bloom, corridors of giant trees and pristine white sand bunkers glittering along the way. It really is a lovely place to play and watch some fine sport.

The course caught many out in the first two days with the hot sun baking the greens and making them lightning fast and many players had tricky wind condition to deal with as well. It has claimed many big names already with Bubba Watson setting a tricky cut and seeing some pre-tournament favourite drop out.

But, whose going to be the one to deal with everything the best and post that magic score at the start of the weekend? Will Bubba continue his dominance or is the jacket going somewhere else?

Augusta is where legends can be made, history is forged and the best can take their place among the sport’s elite. Da, da, daaaa. Sorry, getting a bit carried but it’s hard not too on a weekend of sport like this one! Let the games resume!

  • THE COURSE: Before we get going properly, how about a little reminder of the course, shall we? Augusta. The most famous of all golf courses and probably the most beautiful setting in all of sport. From Amen corner, Rae’s Creek and Eisenhower’s Tree, there’s plenty to get stuck on but plenty of opportunity to become a legend and even more chances to make mistakes. What’s the deal with the famous 18 holes then?

  • EARLY ON: Here it is then, day three already. Of the players out so far, Jimenez, Woodland and Snedeker have made early headway. All three are up to two under.

    4/12/2014 5:58:41 PM

  • I see you Ian!

    One for Justin too!

Bernhard Langer gives hit a good heevho
    4/12/2014 6:03:39 PM
  • THE BRITS: Some good action from the Englishman going on today. Ian Poulter's got five birdies in 10 holes to get to two under and Lee Westwood is going steady at one under as well.
    4/12/2014 6:05:45 PM
  • RORY!: Macca is already back in the shed after his third round. 71 gets him to three over and will need a miracle to get anywhere near the leaders.
    4/12/2014 6:08:09 PM
  • THE FIELD: Plenty of players yet to get going today. None of the leaders are out there yet, so fireworks are yet to come.
    4/12/2014 6:10:15 PM
  • THE COURSE: The greens seem to be a bit more forgiving today and we should be in for some good action and a few more birdies or better going in.
    4/12/2014 6:13:45 PM

  • First check in with Twitter today then… much more from the social media juggernaut throughout the day
    4/12/2014 6:16:15 PM
  • LEADERBOARD: -7 B Watson (US); -4 Senden (US); -3 Bjorn (Den), Blixt (Swe), Scott (Aus), Spieth (US).

Selected others: -2: Jimenez (Spa) after 15, Poulter (Eng) 11; -1 Gallacher (Sco), Donaldson (Wal), Westwood (Eng) 4; +1 Rose (Eng) 8; +3 McIlroy (NI)

    4/12/2014 6:18:33 PM
  • MIGUEL ANGEL JIMENEZ: The Spaniard is putting a fine round together here to be the first to break into the leaders today. An extra fat cigar might be on cards here.
    4/12/2014 6:20:50 PM

  • He couldn't be any cooler if he lived in a bloody freezer!
    4/12/2014 6:22:45 PM
  • EARLY MOVERS: Matt Kuchar and Kevin Stadler are making early inroads into the leaders, both up to two under but only just beginning their rounds.
    4/12/2014 6:24:39 PM
  • BRANDT SNEDEKER: Well he started well but Snedy's had a mare here, some would even call it a weston (weston super mare). At the par three fourth, he takes seven to get it in. That takes him from a very good two under to a very bad two over. All to do now.
    4/12/2014 6:28:12 PM
  • UNDERWAY: A trio of favourites get back their rounds going. Jimmy Walker, Jim Furyk and Fred Couples begin their third rounds.
    4/12/2014 6:30:21 PM
  • IN THE CLUBHOUSE: Jason Day finishes off his day's work then and he goes to the bar with a 70 under his belt. Since the cut yesterday got rid of a lot of the bricka-bracka we need a new man to prop up the rest and at the moment that honour goes to Joost Luiten and his nine over par.
    4/12/2014 6:34:38 PM
  • JAMIE DONALDSON: The Welsh maestro gets going today and it's not the best of starts after he bogeys the first. Plenty of time to get that mistake out of his head though.
    4/12/2014 6:36:19 PM
  • PRIZE MONEY: We have just found out how much cash the winner will be taking home this week. What you reckon?? How much?? Well, you're wrong. Its *deep breath* 1.6 million dollars! Yes please.
    4/12/2014 6:37:58 PM

  • Sometimes, simple is better, sometimes, it's not… you decide.
    4/12/2014 6:39:37 PM
  • ADAM SCOTT: Just like yesterday, Scott starts out with a bogey at the first. He recovered wonderfully well on day two, he'll need it again today. Jordan Spieth, in third place, also gets underway.
    4/12/2014 6:42:54 PM
  • Check out some lovely swings!

    Rory McIlroy

    Miguel Angel Jimenez

    Francesco Molinari
    4/12/2014 6:48:23 PM
  • IN THE CLUBHOUSE: Jimenez can lit up that cigar now as he completes the best round of the week so far. His 66 is enough to take him to joint third. Jose Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke are also home but no great challenge from either.
    4/12/2014 6:51:58 PM
  • BUBBA WATSON: Our leader is out on the course, here we go!
    4/12/2014 6:55:49 PM
  • JIM FURYK: Sir Jim is rolling back the years early on here with two early birdies to jump to three under.
    4/12/2014 6:57:23 PM
  • RICKIE FOWLER: The baseball cap is starting to get going too. Four holes to go and he is at one under with time to make that much better.
    4/12/2014 6:59:22 PM
  • MIGUEL ANGEL JIMENEZ: What a round from the pony tail! Five birdies on the back nine and he might well be a force tomorrow.
    4/12/2014 7:00:37 PM
  • POOR STARTS: Bubba Watson and John Senden both start in slightly shaky ways, both bogeying the first.
    4/12/2014 7:02:52 PM

  • Bubba bogeys the first.
    4/12/2014 7:04:21 PM
  • IAN POULTER: In out, in out, Poulter's all about. The Brit is back to level par with two quick bogeys undoing his earlier good work.
    4/12/2014 7:07:52 PM
  • JUSTIN ROSE: Another Englishman doing a bit of everything today is Rose. He has hit two bogeys but in-between them hit a quite majestic eagle. One to have a look at, it was a beauty.
    4/12/2014 7:11:32 PM
  • JORDAN SPIETH: The young yank is playing out of skin and definitely above his years. A steady start goes to a super start with a birdie at the third to take second place.
    4/12/2014 7:13:05 PM

  • Kiss from a Rose!
    4/12/2014 7:14:51 PM
  • JOHN SENDEN: The Aussie goes back to four under and regroups straight away following his bogey at the first with a birdie at the second. Well done, Johnny, no need to send out an SOS.
    4/12/2014 7:17:10 PM
  • RICKIE FOWLER: The man with the hat is looking good today, I mean his golf is, not the hat! Back-to-back birdies at 15 and 16 brings him up third.
    4/12/2014 7:18:57 PM
  • BUBBA WATSON, EAGLE: That's the stuff of champions, right there! "A bogey at the first? No bother, I'll just eagle the second," thinks the 2012 champ and he does just that. Quite superb from Bubba!!
    4/12/2014 7:20:39 PM
  • EAGLE: Well, I think it's fair to say that the course is playing slightly easier than the first two days. Justin Rose makes his second eagle of the day, this time at the 13th, to climb to one under. Brilliant stuff from the Brit!
    4/12/2014 7:23:53 PM

  • Planet Twitter is awash with Masters goodness once more!
    4/12/2014 7:25:31 PM
  • JORDAN SPIETH: That didn't last long and Spieth goes back into the three under pack with a bogey at hole four.
    4/12/2014 7:27:27 PM

  • Our man KG is out at Augusta all week, more from him throughout the day.
    4/12/2014 7:28:20 PM

  • Jimenez has to be happy with his day's work

Augusta could win a gold at the Chelsea Flower Show, I reckon

Gary Woodland in a spot of trouble at the 12th's bridge

    4/12/2014 7:38:33 PM
  • ADAM SCOTT: It's an iffy start from Scott again today and he has it all to do after a double bogey at the fourth.
    4/12/2014 7:39:28 PM
  • JOHN SENDEN: Get a draft of that SOS going then because Johnny's dropped another shot at the fourth too.
