  • Almost directly above James Milner’s head are two bottles of champagne, and someone asks him that if Manchester City win the League Cup whether just for a moment he might be tempted to let alcohol pass his lips.

  • Five minutes to go until kick off, Wembley currently experiencing a bizarre pre-match trophy display involving a woman dangling from a giant balloon handing the cup over to a soldier. Not sure what that was all about but there's no time to ponder it because here come the players!
    3/2/2014 1:55:34 PM
  • Sergio Aguero starts for Manchester City, is that a risk from Manuel Pellegrini? Is he fully fit? Well we'll soon see but if he plays at anything like his best then Sunderland could be in trouble.

    3/2/2014 2:01:54 PM

    3/2/2014 2:07:20 PM
  • Manchester City 0 Sunderland 0: Sunderland have the ball in the net, but it was from an offside move. That was about the first time Sunderland have got on the ball and Borini gave Demichelis a bit of bother on the counter. That looks Sunderland's best hope so far.

  • Manchester City 0 Sunderland 1: Didn't think I'd be writing this, but Sunderland are on top. They're getting in City's faces and breaking up the game. Having said that City come close to an equaliser as they counter through Aguero but Nasri's tame shot is easily saved.
    3/2/2014 2:28:59 PM
  • Manchester City 0 Sunderland 1: Sunderland nearly go two up! Johnson escapes the attention of Demichelis before flashing it across the goal face but City just about keep it out.
    3/2/2014 2:33:42 PM
  • Manchester City 0 Sunderland 1: This a much better game than many predicted, Sunderland are causing City some problems. However the Manchester club do look very dangerous in attack and have proven time and time again that they have bags of goals in this team. Can Sunderland hold on?
    3/2/2014 2:38:52 PM
  • Manchester City 0 Sunderland 1: Great tackle from Kompany, Borini was through in on goal (despite being offside) but the Belgian got back to slide in and prevent any further damage. Corner to Sunderland.
