Manchester City v Stoke City as it happened

Live from Wembley Stadium, minute-by-minute updates from the FA Cup final.

  • Manchester City 1 Stoke City 0
    5/14/2011 2:02:07 PM
  • 57 min: City are known for their counter attacking play and it's no surprise looking at their last attack. Good pressure form Stoke was so nearly overshadowed within just a few seconds as City broke. Stoke will have to be on their guard.
    5/14/2011 3:19:43 PM
  • 59 min: Sorensen does well again - coming out to meet the ball just ahead of Richards who had broken from his right-back position.
    5/14/2011 3:21:00 PM
  • 61 min: Jones is released and gets in one-on-one with Hart. Excellent save from the England No 1 keeps the scores at 0-0. Stoke's best chance.
    5/14/2011 3:23:30 PM
  • 62 min: Etherington has come off for Stoke - replaced by Whitehead.
    5/14/2011 3:24:08 PM
  • 63 min: The game has a far more even feel to it this half. City continue to have more possession but Stoke have really got a foot in this. Tevez shoots from the edge of the box but it's easy for Sorensen.
    5/14/2011 3:26:00 PM
  • 66 min: Chant of Swing Low Sweet Chariot goes up from the Stoke fans. They sang that last weekend against Arsenal in response to Wenger's 'rugby team' jibes. They beat the Gunners 3-1. Perhaps they think it'll bring them luck today.
    5/14/2011 3:28:07 PM

  • 68 min: Stoke are trying to find that killer ball for Jones. They've already got him in once this half.
    5/14/2011 3:29:58 PM
  • 70 min: Pennant, who has again shrugged off that ankle injury, wins a free-kick close to the City box. Bit of a weak decision by Martin Atkinson. The resulting free-kick is stopped by the one-man wall. Poor.
    5/14/2011 3:31:46 PM
  • 72 min: An attempted pass out of the City defence hits Atkinson. City fans furious as Stoke get another chance - which again they fluff. Gareth Barry has just come off for Adam Johnson in what looks like an attacking move from Mancini.
    5/14/2011 3:34:30 PM
  • 74 min: GOAL! Yaya Toure for Manchester City.
    5/14/2011 3:35:25 PM
  • 75 min: A scramble in the box after good work from Balotelli ends with the ball breaking to Toure in the centre of the goal. He absolutely smashes it into the back of the net.
    5/14/2011 3:37:35 PM
  • 77 min: Stoke have 13 minutes to respond. The City fans are incredibly loud - knowing that 35 year wait could nearly be over.
    5/14/2011 3:39:35 PM

  • 80 min: John Carew comes on for Rory Delap as Pulis throws the dice.
    5/14/2011 3:41:49 PM
  • 81 min: Carew has gone up alongside Jones in attack. City fans are gleefully singing the name of their manager Mancini.
    5/14/2011 3:43:03 PM
  • 82 min: Stoke's '12th man' responds as they attempt to lift their team.
    5/14/2011 3:43:47 PM
  • 83 min: Carew charges down Hart but to no avail. Stoke need to pile forward in more numbers though.
    5/14/2011 3:45:03 PM
  • 84 min: City break and Sorensen can only push away Silva's shot. Luckily for Stoke no City player was there to capitalise. Meanwhile, Whelan comes off for Pugh.
    5/14/2011 3:46:13 PM

    5/14/2011 3:47:16 PM
  • 87 min: Carew gets into the City box but is unable to get a decent shot in. Better though. He then sees his headed chance go wide. Was always a difficult chance.
    5/14/2011 3:48:30 PM
  • 87 min: A standing ovation as Tevez comes off for Zabaleta. Mancini is shutting up shop it would seem.
    5/14/2011 3:49:16 PM
