  • WICKET! Gambhir 97, b Perera
    4/2/2011 4:40:20 PM
  • Well he may be disappointed that he didn't reach his century, but he produced a beautifully grafted innings and has put his country on the brink. A poor shot to end on, coming down the pitch going for the slog but misses out and has his middle stump knocked back. Cracking stuff.

  • India 227-4 off 42 overs (Yuvraj Singh 4 Dhoni 60)
Yuvraj Singh is the new man and he blasts his fourth delivery through wide midwicket for four, smiles all round for the Indians. 48 to win from 48 balls.

  • The way how Gambhir composed the innings after the initial blows is really remarkable. Great composure shown in a high pressure game.
  • India 232-4 off 43 overs (Yuvraj Singh 5 Dhoni 62)
Another ball change gives Randiv a chance to produce some magic but he is unable to produce any significant dents in the Indian charge. Five more to the total.

  • India 240-4 off 44 overs (Yuvraj Singh 6 Dhoni 69)
Crikey! They don’t get much bigger than that, and the roof comes off Wankhede as Dhoni launches a superb cut over point and in to the crowd. Those are the kind of shots that win World Cups, exemplary form from the skipper.

  • Chance of a run-out, we've gone upstairs....
    4/2/2011 4:55:58 PM
  • Not out, too close to call as Dhoni scampers through after Yuvraj dabs the ball to the short third man region. It was a direct hit from Kapugadera but the Indian skipper just about got home.
    4/2/2011 4:58:06 PM
  • REVIEW! Sri Lanka think they'v got Yuvraj trapped in front...
    4/2/2011 4:59:14 PM
  • Not out once again, huge inside edge and it does not take long for the third umpire to reveal his result.
    4/2/2011 4:59:50 PM
  • India 245-4 off 45 overs (Yuvraj Singh 9 Dhoni 71)
Exciting over reprieves India on two occasions with just three runs coming from it. Randiv doing exactly what his captain has asked under a pressure situation. 30 needed from 30, what a match!
    4/2/2011 5:02:16 PM
  • India 248-4 off 46 overs (Yuvraj Singh 12 Dhoni 71)
Malinga on once again and he mixes his deliveries up to great effect as he brings out four consecutive dot balls. A touch more pressure on India now, 27 needed from 24. A match most certainly fitting of a final.

  • How are the feelings with you all? Any nails left?
    4/2/2011 5:07:50 PM
  • India 259-4 off 47 overs (Yuvraj Singh 18 Dhoni 76)
It’s going to be Kulasekara and he will need to produce consistent yorkers during this Powerplay. Huge hit! Dhoni blasts the ball past mid-off to the fence to relieve some of the pressure. And again! This time it’s Yuvraj who slaps a rank full toss through to the midwicket boundary. 11 from the over and the bowler just couldn’t get his line right. 16 needed from 18 balls.
    4/2/2011 5:13:19 PM
  • Yuvraj Singh has just been tweeted as the Player of the Tournament by the ICC! Congrats!
    4/2/2011 5:14:28 PM
  • India 270-4 off 48 overs (Yuvraj Singh 20 Dhoni 85)
Two crushing blows for Sri Lanka as Dhoni whips a Malinga slower ball to the square-leg boundary before dragging another slow, full delivery to the same part of the ground to put India to within one blow of World Cup victory. The party has begun in Mumbai.

  • Just incredible! Dhoni wraps up proceedings with a terrific stroke as he dispatches Kulasekara over the long-on boundary for a maximum and complete a monumental victory! It has been 28 years since their last World Cup and it is fully deserved.

  • Sri Lanka are heartbroken but they can hold their heads high. It has been a sensational ride for them and they played a key part in one of the World Cup's closest Finals.
    4/2/2011 5:24:53 PM
  • India 277-4 off 48.2 overs (Yuvraj Singh 21 Dhoni 91)
Dhoni is carried off by his team-mates as the celebrations get underway in Mumbai. It is going to be a long and memorable night in India. What a fitting end to an incredible World Cup.
