Glastonbury 2015 - Live coverage - The Independent

Glastonbury 2015

Second fiddle to Florence? Don't make me laugh!!

    The Libertines
    The Libertines? Seriously? Underwhelming #bbcglasto
Barely arsed to listen to The Libertines when they arrived on the scene, certainly not arsed to listen to them now.
How anyone can take the Libertines seriously is beyond me. Utter shite. #Glastonbury
Others are less enthralled at the news of The Libertines'
    secret set
    6/26/2015 7:34:25 PM
The Libertines aren't the only ones to play a secret set (though it was hardly secret)
    6/26/2015 7:35:01 PM
Frank Turner played a secret set at Strummerville earlier
    6/26/2015 7:35:27 PM
Hazel Sheffield: 'He played a set of B-sides and rarities, like 'The Ballad Of Me and My Friends' that he once retired, but decided to do as a one off because it was "such a special night". He finished with Queen's 'Somebody to Love' and a big singalong.'
    6/26/2015 7:36:00 PM

    Frank Turner's secret set

'He finished with Queen's 'Somebody to Love' and a big singalong. He's on the other stage tomorrow, but his band is stuck in Calais tonight, so it was an acoustic set.
    6/26/2015 7:36:50 PM
I'm old enough to remember when the Libertines didn't have double chins and beer tits :-( #glastonburyfestival

    6/26/2015 7:39:42 PM
Five stars for Run The Jewels at West Holts earlier
    6/26/2015 7:45:50 PM
Sarah Malt: 'Expectations were high for American hip hop act Run The Jewels at Glastonbury, and boy did they deliver. From the moment they walked out onto the stage accompanied by Queen's 'We Are The Champions' they had the crowd eating out of the palm of their hand.'
    6/26/2015 7:46:10 PM

'It was evident that they were enjoying the experience and this translated into a high energy, flawless set. Songs included 'Close Your Eyes (And Count To F*ck)' and 'Lie, Cheat, Steal' and every single one had people dancing and cheering like lunatics. A performance such will not only have delighted fans but won over several new ones.'
    6/26/2015 7:46:22 PM
    6/26/2015 7:47:41 PM
    And here they were earlier:
    6/26/2015 7:47:45 PM
Back on the Pyramid Stage and let's hope The Libertines aren't predicting anything with 'Music When The Lights Go Out'
    6/26/2015 7:51:02 PM
Dear the Libertines, attempt to distract attention away from the fact that you cannot sing or play your instruments by at least tuning them.
Probably the tamest Libertines crowd I've ever seen. Thought I was gonna get killed at Hyde Park last year ????
If there's one band on this earth I can't abide.. It's the Libertines. Absolute Horseshit
    #BBC3 #Glastonbury
Predictable secret pyramid stage act is predictable... Can't get rid of the libertines this summer. It's impossible.
The Libertines' not-so-secret set is still dividing the audience...
    6/26/2015 7:53:08 PM
Lots of people forgetting the crucial fact that The Libertines are not good.. #Glasto2015
Controversial opinion but don't get the hype with The Libertines #Glasto2015
Over on the Park Stage Sharon Van Etten just gave a shout out to the gay marriage bill
    6/26/2015 7:56:42 PM
"A cosmic high five that gay marriage has just been made legal in the U.S. for f*ck's sake!"
    6/26/2015 7:56:53 PM

Sharon Van Etten tearing hearts out at The Park. Amazing pipes. #Glasto2015

The Libertines crowd 'seem a bit bored', accord
ing to The Independent's acting music editor Emily Jupp
    6/26/2015 8:01:01 PM
Emily Jupp: Pete Doherty's meant to still be off drugs since his stint in rehab in Thailand earlier in the year but doesn't look amazingly well.
    6/26/2015 8:01:23 PM
The crowd was very excited by the "big reveal" but there's a lack of verve to the performance so far
    6/26/2015 8:01:41 PM
Get ready for girls across the site to go crazy. Word is One Direction are here #Glasto2015
It has been confirmed. Pete Doherty has officially ate all the pies.

Our critic Emily Jupp on The Libertines: 'They all seem a bit bored, like they'd rather be at the bar'
    6/26/2015 8:02:52 PM
"They've only played old material so far, peaking early with 'Can't stand me now'."
    6/26/2015 8:03:29 PM
"It's unlikely this gig will be remembered fondly once the festival ends"
    6/26/2015 8:03:49 PM
Three stars for Sharon Van Etten just now at the Park Stage
    6/26/2015 8:09:46 PM
Hazel Sheffield: "The rain clears just in time for her first ever Glastonbury set, at the Park Stage. She starts with Serpents - that doesn't happen very often - and plays a real mix of new tracks and lesser-heard early ones."
    6/26/2015 8:10:08 PM
"'Save Yourself' and 'Do It' from Epic (2010) come either side of the B-side off her new single, making full use of two bassists and her band. Sharon's been touring for the best part of a year, and while never the most comfortable frontwoman, she's reached a point where her set is so well worn it's become malleable. "
    6/26/2015 8:10:16 PM
Sharon Van Etten review: "There's a steeliness to her performance the belies the nervous silences between songs. The crowd's a bit thin - too many people drawn to the Pyramid's Stage to find out if it is indeed the Libertines' filling in before Florence, perhaps. But she's happy. "It's an honour to finally play Glastonbury!" she shouts before the last song, 'Every time the sun comes up'."
    6/26/2015 8:10:37 PM
Here's Sharon Van Etten performing at her first Glasto:
    6/26/2015 8:11:21 PM
Back at the Pyramid Stage, One Direction were just spotted backstage
    6/26/2015 8:11:39 PM
Why are 1D backstage at glasto taking selfies, put em in the crowd and see how long they last then
