Reports that the truck had crashed at high speed through the factory gates were later contradicted. The vehicle belonged to a sub-contracting company which had a right to enter the site, said the Prefect – senior national government administrator –of the Isere department.

Jean-Paul Bonnetain said investigators were now looking at the possibility that the terrorists had first attacked this company, or one of its employees, and hijacked the vehicle used in the attack.
