  • With lights out at 1pm, lets take a look at the grid...
    5/25/2014 11:42:25 AM
  • 1. Rosberg
    2. Hamilton
    3. Ricciardo
    4. Vettel
    5. Alonso
    6. Raikkonen
    7. Vergne
    8. Magnussen
    9. Kvyat
    10. Perez

    15. Maldonado
    16. Massa

    22. Ericsson

  • Do we have another Senna-Prost rivalry on our hands? The tension between Rosberg and Hamilton is growing by the race, and the Briton was obviously disgruntled with what he deems to be a deliberate error from Rosberg in final qualifying yesterday.
    5/25/2014 11:53:07 AM
  • It's worth remembering that the Red Bull's, and in particular Ricciardo, have been a lot closer to the Mercedes' this weekend. Can either the Aussie or his team-mate Vettel split-up the Mercs or even steal the race win?
    5/25/2014 11:54:25 AM
  • Williams' Massa will start from 16th after he was taken out in Q1 by Ericsson, who as a result will start from the pit-lane. Bianchi has also been relegated to the back of the grid due to a gearbox change, but realistically he only loses two positions from his qualifying grid spot of 19th.
    5/25/2014 11:55:38 AM
  • Just a few minutes until we are lights out for one of the jewels of the F1 calendar. Only Alonso has won this race twice from the 22 drivers starting the race today, although Rosberg, Vettel, Hamilton and Raikkonen can all join him with a win today.
    5/25/2014 11:57:19 AM
  • Calm down David, it hasn't even started yet...

    5/25/2014 11:58:17 AM
  • The formation lap is underway.
    5/25/2014 12:00:23 PM
  • Nico Hulkenberg is the first driver to be starting on the soft tyre, which is the harder prime tyre here this weekend as we're running the super-softs.
    5/25/2014 12:01:03 PM
  • An awful start for Lotus, as Pastor Maldonado has stalled on the grid and is currently being retrieved to the pit-lane.
    5/25/2014 12:01:31 PM
  • Wales rugby star Jamie Roberts is here...

    5/25/2014 12:02:15 PM
  • Lights on...
    5/25/2014 12:03:14 PM
  • Lights out!
    5/25/2014 12:03:23 PM
  • Lap 1: Magnificient start from Rosberg as he powers away from Hamilton, and Raikkonen splits the Red Bull's as he sweeps round the outside of Vettel into turn one. We have an early safety car as there's been a crash at the hairpin. Perez is facing the wrong way with a lot of damage to his Force India.
    5/25/2014 12:05:02 PM
  • 5/25/2014 12:05:13 PM
  • Lap 1: Both Sutil and Grosjean come in after the first lap. The Sauber has a front-wing change.
    5/25/2014 12:06:06 PM
  • Lap 3: Saftey car in this lap.
    5/25/2014 12:08:36 PM
  • Lap 4: We're back to green flag racing!
    5/25/2014 12:08:59 PM
  • Lap 4: Disaster for Vettel, as his car hasn't returned to race speed and he's plummeting down the field. Raikkonen also got past Ricciardo at the restart to move into third, and this is looking very promising for Ferrari.
    5/25/2014 12:10:12 PM
  • Lap 5: Rosberg leads by just under a second from Hamilton as Vettel comes in. He's very frustrated on the radio as he bemoans "Come on guys". He returns to the track a lap down, but emerges stuck in first gear. A complete disaster.
    5/25/2014 12:12:50 PM
  • Lap 6: Stewards are investigating the collision between Button and Perez, but it appeared that Perez tried to close the door unfairly on Button.
    5/25/2014 12:13:36 PM
  • Lap 7: Curtains for Vettel as he is told to bring the car in to retire., which he does so immediately. Raikkonen leads Ricciardo by just over two seconds and this is the best showing we've seen from the Finn this season.
    5/25/2014 12:15:23 PM
  • Is strategy Hamilton's best chance of winning today?

    5/25/2014 12:16:13 PM
  • Lap 8: Things appeared to have settled down now, and magnussen is worth a shout as he's running up in sixth.
    5/25/2014 12:17:36 PM
  • Lap 9: Sutil dives under Maldonado going into the hairpin, mounting the kerb in order to get past. The stewards will look at the first lap collision after the race so it's unlikely that Button will be penalised for his race result today. The McLaren passes Kvyat, who has dropped from ninth to 13th curiously.
    5/25/2014 12:19:24 PM
  • Lap 11: Rosberg sets a new fastest lap and is beginning to just stretch away from Hamilton. Vergne and Hulkenberg are also doing solid jobs running in the top 10, while Kvyat comes into the pits. Given the early troubles, Kobayashi is running up in 13th position in the Caterham.
    5/25/2014 12:21:01 PM
  • Lap 12: Sutil is up to it again as he dives beneath Ericsson at the hairpin once more.  The Sauber would be pleased for his work, if only he wasn't battling for 14th.
    5/25/2014 12:22:40 PM
  • Lap 13: We see the thermal image camera on Ricciardo's Red Bull and he's running extremely cold tyres which will be a cause for concern. Raikkonen has convincingly dropped him, as Hamilton reports back that he can feel his rear tyres starting to fade.
    5/25/2014 12:24:36 PM

  • Lap 16: Sutil is certainly the most entertaining driver on the track right now, as he shoots out of the tunnel to lunge inside Chilton. The German is now up to 15th, but he's providing the best overtaking in the early stages.
    5/25/2014 12:28:25 PM
  • Lap 18: Rosberg has a big lock up into Mirabeau (deja vu?) but he makes it through the corner this time. Ericsson is trying to fend off Grosjean as Chilton gets hit by a 5 second stop/go penalty for starting in the wrong grid spot at the start.
    5/25/2014 12:29:56 PM
  • Lap 19: The same penalty is immediately given to Gutierrez, and that will have been caused by the absence of Maldonado on the grid. Bianchi also gets a penalty, but that'll be a massive boost for Kobayashi. Hamilton is informed he's in the pit window and he's closed up slightly on Rosberg.
    5/25/2014 12:31:13 PM
  • Lap 20: Neither Merc comes in from the front, but the action could be hotting up behind as Ricciardo has started to close in on Raikkonen for third.
    5/25/2014 12:32:28 PM
  • Lap 21: Hulkenberg is under pressure from button in the battle for eighth. We're expecting the first stops of those on a two-stop strategy to be in any moment.
    5/25/2014 12:34:14 PM
  • Rosberg leads into the first corner, as Raikkonen sweeps round the outside to move in to fourth

    5/25/2014 12:35:20 PM
  • Lap 23: Rosberg locks up that same front-left twice on the last lap, and Hamilton is beginning to come alive as they approach the first back-markers of Grosjean, Ericcson and Chilton.
    5/25/2014 12:36:50 PM
  • Lap 24: Grosjean gets out the way early, but Ericsson is massively holding up Rosberg. At the same time Ricciardo is right on the gearbox of Raikkonen.
    5/25/2014 12:37:50 PM
  • Lap 25: Sutil's race is over as he's crashed coming out of the tunnel, and this looks like a second safety car.
    5/25/2014 12:38:39 PM
  • Lap 25: Sutil lost control as he went over the notorious bumps on the exit of the tunnel. The Safety Car has been deployed and Button is the first in, with everyone ahead of him driving past. This could really cost Hamilton here.
    5/25/2014 12:40:02 PM
  • Lap 26: Rosberg pits early and Hamilton just holds back, but he's timed it well as he beats both Raikkonen and Ricciardo out of the pits. Alonso comes in that holds up Ricciardo, and the Toro Rosso team let Vergne out right into the path of Magnussen, and he'll likely get a penalty for that one.
    5/25/2014 12:41:54 PM
  • Sutil sticks it into the wall on the exit of the tunnel

    5/25/2014 12:42:37 PM
  • Lap 28: Hamilton is far from happy (surprise) as he is informed that he needs to go to the end on these tyres. Grosjean, who is lapped in-between the Mercedes', is now allowed to make his way through.
    5/25/2014 12:44:08 PM
  • Lap 28: Massa was the only one to not pit, but there's drama here as Raikkonen pits for a second time. He drops right back to 14th as a result, and there must have been a puncture as a result of the debris on the track.
    5/25/2014 12:45:41 PM
  • Lap 29: Vergne is being investigated for an unsafe release and he'll certainly get a penalty. Ricciardo is now third with Alonso fourth and Massa fifth.
