Euro 2016 draw LIVE! England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland await opponents

Welcome to The Independent's live coverage of the Euro 2016 draw. After this summer's World Cup, attention will soon turn the 2016 European Championships in France. Today the home nations - England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland will find out who they will face in their qualifying groups for the tournament, which start in the autumn.

England are one of the top seeds, and will avoid meeting Germany, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. 
Republic of Ireland are in pot two, Scotland and Wales in pot four, with Northern Ireland in pot five.

  • Will Steven Gerrard still be England captain for the Euro 2016 challenge, manager Roy Hodgson still does not know.

    "He will be 34 in May so he will be getting on for 36 by the start of Euro 2016, so I think a lot will depend on him and how he feels, and depend on how he is playing ," Hodgson said in the build-up to the draw. "At the moment there has been no slowing down in his play."
