They've lost their last 54 competitive internationals. San Marino's heaviest defeat was 13-0 against Germany in 2006. If England surpass that tonight, it would be a new record for the Three Lions, surpassing the 13 they put past Ireland in 1882.

It can't be easy being a San Marino fan, for which an allocation of 300 tickets were provided tonight. Their side concedes 25 goals for every one they score.

With a maximum capacity crowd of 90,000 here at Wembley tonight, this fixture against officially the worst team in the world according to Fifa, has thankfully been given a bit of bite. Fans won't be satisfied with anything less than a drubbing and Roy Hodgson appears to have set up his team accordingly. The combination of Cleverley, Walcott, Rooney, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Welbeck has an exciting feel to it. And with Baines bombing forward on one side and Walker on the other the bus San Marino are sure to park across their goal should take a battering.

Get the feeling we may not be taking this fixture seriously. The match ball is being delivered by an armed forces personell abseiling in from the roof.

1 min: The last time San Marino played England they were ahead after 8.3 seconds. No such luck tonight. 

4 min: England win a corner which is worked to Chamberlain on the edge of the box before the Arsenal man shoots. It's tipped over.

7 min: Reckless stuff from Simoncini in the corner of his penalty box but he did get a slight touch on the ball. Walcott is still down and the stretcher is out.

10 min: Things are under way again. San Marino yet to have a touch in the England half.

12 min: Cleverley comes close to getting in on goal from Walkers pass but it's just over hit. Another corner to England.

14 min: I can report that after 14 minutes San Marino have had their first touch in the England half.

17 min: It's worked to Baines whose near post cross is nearly turned into the net by Brolli. Would have been a bit of a wally had he done so.

21 min: Better from Rooney who feeds Walker out on the right. His cross is deflected and Simoncini is able to hold onto it.

23 min: Chamberlain exchanges passes with Rooney but his cross is turned away. Another corner for England.

25 min: Chamberlain shoots but it's straight at the keeper. Simoncini fumbles but it just escapes the advancing Welbeck. Better.

30 min: Another corner to England which eventually ends up with Cahill on the six yard box. Nice touch by the Chelsea defender but his shot doesn't make it to goal.

33 min: Baines makes a run down the left and wins England a corner. It's punched away by the keeper but comes back in. The crowd think it's in but Rooney's header is just wide. Close.

35 min: Rooney steps up to take it.

36 min: Lovely penalty from Rooney after Welbeck was brought down by the keeper. Rooney is now level with Alan Shearer, Nat Lofthouse and Tom Finney on 30 goals for England.
