  • The bell has been rung and here come the players and umpires....
    5/19/2013 9:57:22 AM
  • WICKET! Finn c Sub (Guptil) b Southee - 6
Southee strikes straightaway removing Finn with one that the fast bowler can only edge to Guptil at second slip. Advantage New Zealand.
    5/19/2013 10:03:35 AM
  • England 183/7 (Bell 3, Broad 0)
Southee makes an immediate impact for New Zealand, removing Finn. Bell got off the mark two balls earlier with a good looking square drive for three. England need him to make some important runs with the tail here.
    5/19/2013 10:06:42 AM
  • The Independent's Stephen Brenkley at Lord's:

    5/19/2013 10:08:44 AM
  • England 188/7 (Bell 3, Broad 5)
Stuart Broad has his first boundary, but it's not a wholly convincing stroke. He attempts an expansive drive but gets a thickish edge on it and it squirts through the gully region for four.
    5/19/2013 10:11:37 AM
  • England 198/7 (Bell 6, Broad 12)
Broad repeats the shot he attempted last over and this time he middles it, finding the boundary in more textbook style. He picks up another three with a sweetly-timed push that pierces the inner field. England could really do with him finding a bit of form here with the bat.
    5/19/2013 10:16:23 AM

  • Tim Southee celebrates removing Steven Finn in the first over of the day
by Charles Reynoldson May 19, 2013 at 10:17 AM

    5/19/2013 10:18:11 AM
  • England 200/7 (Bell 6, Broad 14)
Broad brings up England's 200 with a fairly ambitious hoik into the leg side which isn't timed and doesn't reach the boundary. Boult appeals for leg before but it's clearly going down leg side.
    5/19/2013 10:21:13 AM
  • WICKET! Bell c Brownlie b Southee - 6
Big wicket for New Zealand as Southee gets England's last recognised batsman. Bell nibbles at one outside his off stump and edges it to Brownlie in the slips who takes a good low catch.
    5/19/2013 10:21:28 AM
  • Southee has now taken 5 wickets for 23 runs in just 39 balls. Impressive stuff.
    5/19/2013 10:23:15 AM
  • 5/19/2013 10:26:01 AM
  • England 200/8 (Broad 14, Swann 0)
This has been quite a performance from Tim Southee and he goes onto the Lord's honours boards with a five-wicket haul. England now need these two to swing the bat a bit if they are to have any chance of winning this game.
    5/19/2013 10:28:40 AM
  • England 208/8 (Broad 22, Swann 0)
Crack! Stuart Broad launches a booming drive into the off side that pierces the field and races away for four. He's looking in much better nick than in his awful first innings.
    5/19/2013 10:30:20 AM

  • Bell goes early to the delight of Tim Southee
by Charles Reynoldson May 19, 2013 at 10:31 AM

    5/19/2013 10:32:19 AM
  • England 209/8 (Broad 22, Swann 1)
Swann attempts a couple of expansive drives but doesn't really get hold of anything and he's restricted to just picking up a single. Kane Williamson warming up for New Zealand.
    5/19/2013 10:36:39 AM
  • England 209/8 (Broad 22, Swann 1)
Williamson indeed does come into the attack and it's a maiden. England's lead stays at 234.
    5/19/2013 10:41:27 AM
  • WICKET! Swann c McCullum b Southee - 1
Southee has six wickets and 10 wickets in the match. He gets Swann attempting to drive and the spinner can only nick it through to the keeper. Last man in for England.
    5/19/2013 10:41:51 AM
  • England 210/9 (Broad 23, Anderson 0)
This is really turning into a fascinating Test match. England have a lead of just 235 with one wicket remaining. Southee bowling very well in this game. England need Broad to get some runs here.
    5/19/2013 10:47:26 AM
  • WICKET! Anderson c Southee b Williamson - 0
That's very unlucky for Anderson, he hits the ball firmly into the boot of silly point and it flies straight up in the air and he is caught at cover by Southee.

    5/19/2013 10:49:07 AM
  • So that's that for England's innings. They finish with a lead of 235. Will that be enough?

  • Stuart Broad goes on the charge
by Charles Reynoldson May 19, 2013 at 10:55 AM

    5/19/2013 10:55:40 AM
  • Nottinghamshire's James Taylor:

    5/19/2013 10:57:10 AM
  • England incidentally lost 8 wickets for just 54 runs after the dismissal of Joe Root. A batting collapse that harks back to the glorious batting collapses of the mid 90s.
    5/19/2013 10:58:06 AM
  • Players and umpires back out on the field now...
    5/19/2013 10:58:31 AM
  • New Zealand 1/0 (Fulton 1, Rutherford 0)
Just a single to Two Metre Peter and New Zealand are off in their run chase.

    5/19/2013 11:02:53 AM
  • WICKET! Fulton c Prior b Broad - 1
Perfect start for England as Broad gets Fulton to play at one that moves away outside his off stump and Prior takes the catch behind.
    5/19/2013 11:05:00 AM
  • New Zealand 2/1 (Williamson 1, Rutherford 0)
Broad makes the early breakthrough and so departs one of the finest nicknames in cricket, 'Two Metre' Peter Fulton. Just what Captain Cook would have wanted.
    5/19/2013 11:12:44 AM
  • New Zealand 12/1 (Williamson 1, Rutherford 8)
Rutherford gets New Zealand's first boundary with a good looking square drive for four. He picks up another in much less assured style, edging through the slips. A moral if not actual victory for Broad. Momentarily got excited because I thought the sun had come out, then realised that actually it was just the floodlights - they have really allowed a lot more play this Test.
    5/19/2013 11:18:57 AM
  • New Zealand 16/1 (Williamson 6, Rutherford 9)
Couple of nice looking shots from Williamson that are only prevented from going for four by the sluggish outfield.
    5/19/2013 11:23:06 AM
  • WICKET! Rutherford b Broad - 9
Broad strikes again, this time he cleans up Rutherford whose stump cartwheels satisfyingly out of the ground.
    5/19/2013 11:23:28 AM

  • WICKET! Taylor c Cook b Broad - 0
What an over this is turning out to be from Stuart Broad. He gets Taylor second ball edging to Alistair Cook in the slips.
    5/19/2013 11:27:12 AM
  • New Zealand 20/3 (Williamson 6, Brownlie 4)
A killer over from Stuart Broad as he puts New Zealand under real pressure. First innings top scorer Taylor was a particularly big scalp.
    5/19/2013 11:31:54 AM
  • New Zealand 20/3 (Williamson 6, Brownlie 4)
    Maiden from Jimmy Anderson.

  • 5/19/2013 11:40:48 AM
  • New Zealand 21/3 (Williamson 6, Brownlie 5)
Another maiden from Jimmy Anderson and this is good tight stuff. He might not be getting the wickets that Broad is but he is certainly building pressure here.
    5/19/2013 11:44:16 AM
  • WICKET! Williamson c Finn b Broad - 6
Broad has four wickets! Williamson drives hard outside off stump but hits it straight to Finn at mid on who takes an excellent catch. New Zealand really in trouble now.
    5/19/2013 11:45:50 AM
  • New Zealand 25/4 (Brownlie 5, McCullum 4)
Broad strikes again removing Williamson and England are really on top here. McCullum is the new man in and he hits his first ball for four. Looks like he's going to play his shots. Cracking game.
    5/19/2013 11:50:26 AM
  • WICKET! Brownlie c Cook b Anderson - 5
Masterful bowling from Anderson. He nearly cuts Brownlie in half with an in-swinger just going over the top of the stumps and then produces the perfect out swinger next ball which he can only edge to Cook at first slip.
    5/19/2013 11:52:31 AM
  • New Zealand 25/5 (McCullum 4, Watling 0)
Wicket maiden from Anderson who gets in on the fun to remove Brownlie. New Zealand in real trouble here. Watling who went off injured yesterday is the new man in.
    5/19/2013 11:57:00 AM
  • REVIEW! McCullum given out LBW to Broad.
    5/19/2013 11:59:12 AM
  • WICKET! McCullum LBW Broad - 8
New Zealand in tatters. Broad has five wickets, trapping the New Zealand captain with an in swinger.
    5/19/2013 12:00:13 PM
  • LUNCH - New Zealand 26/6 (Watling 0, Southee 0)
    5/19/2013 12:02:14 PM
