  • 6/23/2013 7:46:42 AM

    • England won the toss and will bowl first
    • Match reduced to 20 overs per side

England - Cook, Bell, Trott, Root, Morgan, Bopara, Buttler, Bresnan, Broad, Tredwell, Anderson

India - Dhawan, R Sharma, Kohli, Karthik, Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, Ashwin, Kumar, I Sharma, Yadav
    6/23/2013 7:44:34 AM
  • Jadeja picks up a single and brings Kumar on strike
    6/23/2013 5:43:03 PM
  • Kumar clips one off his hip for a single and brings Jadeja back on strike to face the last two balls...
    6/23/2013 5:43:36 PM
  • SIX! Jadeja plays a superb shot, smashing it over mid on for six.
    6/23/2013 5:44:19 PM
  • He adds a couple more with a mis-timed pull to take India to 129/7 after their 20 overs.

    6/23/2013 5:45:10 PM
  • So here come England and India to decide this Champions Trophy final (unless it rains again..)
    6/23/2013 5:55:06 PM
  • 1st over - England 3/0 (Cook 2, Bell 1)
Kumar starts from the Pavilion End and Cook gets off the mark with a cut shot down to third man before Bell pushes one off his pads for another single. England add just another single so that's a good start for India.
    6/23/2013 5:59:17 PM
  • WICKET! Cook c Ashwin b Yadav - 2
Great bowling from Yadav, he has Cook under real pressure, unable to score off his first four balls and the England skipper then tries to steer one away outside off stump and just glides it straight to first slip.
    6/23/2013 6:02:06 PM
  • 2nd over - England 6/1 (Bell 1, Trott 3)
Yadav from the City End now and it's a great over, Cook can't score off his first four to the huge delight of the Indian fans in the crowd and then gets out on the fifth ball. Trott comes to the crease and is off the mark with three off the last ball of the over, pushing the ball into the leg side.
    6/23/2013 6:04:37 PM

  • 6/23/2013 6:05:43 PM
  • 3rd over - England 17/1 (Bell 1, Trott 14)
You can't bowl there to Jonathan Trott, Kumar strays onto his pads and is worked away for four through midwicket. He adds another three balls later as Kumar goes too wide and is cut away square for four. Trott has flown to 14 from just seven balls.
    6/23/2013 6:09:47 PM
  • 4th over - England 24/1 (Bell 4, Trott 18)
Not a totally convincing over from England, but they get seven from it. Neither Bell nor Trott quite middled any of their shots from Yadav's over but they emerged unscathed. End of the powerplay.
    6/23/2013 6:14:25 PM
  • 5th over - England 27/1 (Bell 5, Trott 20)
Jadeja into the attack now and it's a good over, England can only really work him for singles (three of them) and he beats Trott's outside edge with one that turns.
    6/23/2013 6:17:33 PM
  • WICKET! Trott st Dhoni b Ashwin - 20
Ashwin fires one down legside which Trott misses as he comes down the pitch and Dhoni quickly whips the bails off with the England man out of his ground. Big wicket.
    6/23/2013 6:18:42 PM
  • 6th over - England 30/2 (Bell 6, Root 1)
Spin from both ends now and it pays dividends as Trott departs. England's goldenboy Joe Root enters the stage and gets off the mark with a single to bring Bell back on strike, who nearly gloves one to leg slip before adding a single. Nervous from England.
    6/23/2013 6:21:28 PM
  • 7th over - England 38/2 (Bell 8, Root 6)
Sharma replaces Jadeja from the Pavilion End and England nudge and nurdle him around to pick up eight from the over. They certainly looked more challenged by spin but then perhaps Dhoni is saving those overs for when the pressure is on.
    6/23/2013 6:27:05 PM

  • WICKET! Root c Sharma b Ashwin - 7
Pressure building on England now, not a great shot from Root. He mistimes a pull shot and Ishant Sharma takes a low catch at fine leg.
    6/23/2013 6:27:53 PM
  • 8th over - England 41/3 (Bell 8, Morgan 0)
Pressure on England now - Bell plays a slightly dodgy lofted shot down the ground for a single, before Root holes out and Morgan comes to the crease. England can't add any more from the over. Great stuff from India.
    6/23/2013 6:30:29 PM
  • REVIEW! Dhoni thinks he's stumped Bell off Jadeja.
    6/23/2013 6:33:31 PM
  • WICKET! Bell st Dhoni b Jadeja - 13
Well that's a controversial one, looked like Bell was back in his ground to be honest but the third umpire disagrees.
    6/23/2013 6:35:10 PM
  • 9th over - England 46/4 (Morgan 1, Bopara 0)
India are really turning the screw here, Jadeja gets a pretty big slice of luck with that dismissal but he bowls a great over. Dhoni brings four men round the bat, in a 20 over game!
    6/23/2013 6:38:22 PM
  • 10th over - England 46/4 (Morgan 1, Bopara 0)
Pressure really on England now as Ashwin bowls a maiden to Morgan. To be honest he's quite lucky not to get out on several occasions so that at least is a positive for England.
    6/23/2013 6:41:42 PM
  • 11th over - England 55/4 (Morgan 9, Bopara 1)
Better over from England's point of view and a welcome boundary from Morgan, carving Sharma away on the offside. Nine from the over.
    6/23/2013 6:46:05 PM
  • 12th over - England 63/4 (Morgan 15, Bopara 3)
Another good over from England's point of view, they pick up eight including a lovely boundary from Morgan that he works into the offside and beats the man sweeping on the boundary.
    6/23/2013 6:50:32 PM
  • 13th over - England 68/4 (Morgan 18, Bopara 3)
Kumar comes back into the attack from the Pavilion End after Sharma's nine-run over and England just work him for five from the over. This partnership is vital for England.
    6/23/2013 6:52:58 PM
  • 14th over - England 71/4 (Morgan 20, Bopara 6)
Raina continues from the City End and it's a great over. He completely squares up Morgan with one that turns very sharply  and somehow misses the outside edge of his bat and his off stump.
    6/23/2013 6:56:04 PM
  • 15th over - England 83/4 (Morgan 23, Bopara 15)
Sharma comes back into the attack and it starts well for India, Bopara playing a rather dodgy looking club down the ground that just lands safely, but he makes amends from the last ball of the over by launching a massive six into the Eric Hollies stand.
    6/23/2013 7:02:14 PM
  • From Steve Ditchburn via email

Whatever the reality of the Ian Bell dismissal why wasn't the ball given as a wide?  Another umpire error - it went down the leg side.

You can still be stumped off a wide actually so no problem there, but did look a slightly contentious call.
    6/23/2013 7:03:36 PM
  • 16th over - England 90/4 (Morgan 27, Bopara 18)
Raina continues from the City End and England pick up eight from the over, the highlight a lovely reverse-sweep from Morgan which sails over short third man for four.
    6/23/2013 7:05:33 PM
  • 17th over - England 102/4 (Morgan 27, Bopara 30)
Dhoni wants to calm things down a bit so he brings Jadeja back on, but it doesn't have the desired effect, England are running hard and three times they pick up some very quickly run doubles but the damage is really done by Bopara launching another six into the Eric Hollies Stand. 12 from the over.
    6/23/2013 7:08:42 PM
  • WICKET! Morgan c Ashwin b Sharma - 33
That's a shocker from Morgan, he'd done so well but then just slaps a slower ball bouncer straight to Ashwin at a straight midwicket. Pressure back on England.
    6/23/2013 7:13:03 PM
  • WICKET! Bopara c Ashwin b Sharma - 30
Double strike from Sharma, Bopara spoons one to square leg and England are in trouble. Ishant on a hat trick.
    6/23/2013 7:15:51 PM
  • 18th over - England 111/6 (Buttler 0, Bresnan 1)
Has MS Dhoni gone a bit wrong? He brings Sharma back on - despite him looking rather ropey so far and Morgan punishes him by slapping him for six on the hook. It's a poor delivery, but not as bad as the next two which are hideously wide outside off and are rightfully called so by the umpire.  But then Ishant strikes to remove Morgan and suddenly England are in trouble. Even more so when Bopara falls next ball. What a bizarre and dramatic over.
    6/23/2013 7:17:57 PM

    6/23/2013 7:18:11 PM
  • These will both be powerplay overs
    6/23/2013 7:18:23 PM
  • WICKET! Buttler b Jadeja - 0
Oh dear, Jos Buttler goes first ball. It's a horrible swipe and he's clean bowled. England really struggling.
    6/23/2013 7:20:19 PM
  • WICKET! Bresnan run out - 2
Oh that's hideous. Big LBW shout against Bresnan not given but he advances down the track and is unable to scrabble back in time.
    6/23/2013 7:22:44 PM
  • 19th over - England 115/8 (Broad 2, Tredwell 1)
Huge over from India, they surely have ended England's hopes.
England need 15 from the last over.
    6/23/2013 7:25:21 PM
  • Ashwin to bowl the last over
    6/23/2013 7:25:30 PM
  • England have lost 4/13 in the last two overs...
    6/23/2013 7:25:45 PM
  • Broad on strike to Ashwin, he swings, misses and there's an appeal for a stumping... It goes to a review.
    6/23/2013 7:27:03 PM
  • NOT OUT. To be honest that one looked out.
    6/23/2013 7:28:51 PM
  • Ashwin in and broad sweeps for four!

11 to win from four balls.
    6/23/2013 7:29:23 PM
  • Broad picks up a single and brings Tredwell on strike - can he be the unlikely hero?

    10 from 3 balls needed
    6/23/2013 7:30:13 PM
  • Tredwell swats one away on the offside and they scramble two although Broad may not have made it back for the second. It goes to the third umpire....
    6/23/2013 7:31:05 PM
  • NOT OUT. Broad was home.

    8 needed from 2 balls
    6/23/2013 7:31:20 PM
  • Tredwell hits it down the ground but he doesn't get hold of it and England can only pick up two.

6 needed from the last ball
    6/23/2013 7:32:05 PM
  • Ashwin to Tredwell and he misses it!

    India win by five runs
    6/23/2013 7:33:02 PM
    6/23/2013 7:33:48 PM
  • Well what a dramatic finish that was, England looked like they were cruising home with six wickets in hand and 20 runs needed, but somehow they threw it all away.

Ravi Jadeja looks set to be named man of the match. Had those last two and a half overs gone differently it surely would have been Ravi Bopara instead.
    6/23/2013 7:39:04 PM
  • It's been a good tournament for moustaches. Shikhar Dhawan gets the golden bat for most runs scored in the tournament and Ravi Jadeja the golden ball for most wickets, not to mention the man of the match award for this game.
    6/23/2013 8:08:53 PM
  • That's all from me here at Edgbaston, congratulations to India - definitely the best team in the tournament.

Hope you can join me again soon in this jam-packed summer of cricket.
