  • Hello and welcome along to England's penultimate game before heading off to Brazil and the bright lights of the 2014 World Cup.

Key word tonight? Injuries! I'm looking at you Daniel Sturridge, Steven Gerrard and Gary Cahill, no injuries.

Ecuador are the oppenents as Roy Hogdson continues to test his side against the likes from South American with the Uruguay clash on the horizon.

All the team news to come as soon as we get it and all the action, kicking off at 8pm sharp.
    6/4/2014 5:35:34 PM
  • The talk heading into tonight's match is that Wayne Rooney will be deployed on the left of an attacking three. We'll be sure to keep an eye on how he gets on.
    6/4/2014 5:36:06 PM
  • Plenty, oh yes, plenty to read before kick off in little under an hour and a half, so settle down, grab a beer and enjoy. Alan Shearer has weighed in on the whole Rooney debate saying England must play their star and keep the ball more.
    6/4/2014 5:38:57 PM
  • Nothing quite gets tongues wagging like Wayne Rooney, the twitter icon himself, Gary Lineker reckons Roy has a Rooney 'conundrum' on his hands.
    6/4/2014 5:41:09 PM

  • It seems Frank Lampard will be wearing the captain's armband tonight

    6/4/2014 5:42:41 PM

  • The Miami Dolphin's Sun Life Stadium is tonight's setting, looks a bit grey over Will's mothers
    6/4/2014 5:45:11 PM
  • Who going to be on show tonight then?? I'm sure you're pretty sick of all the squad talk by now but here's a little reminder anyways.

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Celtic), Ben Foster (West Bromwich Albion), Joe Hart (Manchester City).

Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Luke Shaw (Southampton), Chris Smalling (Manchester United).

Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton), Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson (both Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Manchester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).

Forwards: Rickie Lambert (Southampton), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United).

    6/4/2014 5:47:05 PM
  • And team selections and headaches must be all that Roy thinks about! Here's our man Ian Herbert's take on how Roy's plan is coming together.
    6/4/2014 5:49:12 PM
  • Everyone loves a good video, don't they? Sam Wallace provides us a preview for tonight's game... in 3D! Well, sort of, it's a nice video, enjoy.
    6/4/2014 5:51:11 PM

  • That boy doesn't half divide opinion and get us talking, how will he go tonight? Will he be in the starting line up come June 14?
    6/4/2014 5:55:11 PM
  • Love him or hate him, we just can't stop talking about him. Sam Wallace on the 'obsession' with the one time boy wonder, Rooney.
    6/4/2014 5:56:54 PM
  • Anyway enough about Wayne for the time being and back to the matter at hand, tonight's clash with Ecuador...
    6/4/2014 5:57:27 PM
  • Under manager Reinaldo, not Ronaldo, Rueda, Ecuador qualified for Brazil fourth in their group from the South Americas.

Edison Mendez, who is likely to start tonight, is second on his country's leading cap makers (109) and fifth on the all time goal
scorers (18), we'll be keeping an eye on him tonight.

How about their squad, I hear you cry! Get a bit of revision done before kick off with some, er, slightly unknown members of the Ecuadoran 23.

Goalkeepers: Alexander Dominguez (Liga de Quito), Maximo
Banguera (Barcelona, Ecuador), Adrian Bone (El Nacional)

Defenders: Gabriel Achilier (Emelec), Walter Ayovi
(Pachuca), Oscar Bagui (Emelec), Frickson Erazo (Flamengo), Jorge Guagua
(Emelec), Juan Carlos Paredes (Barcelona, Ecuador)

Ecuador), Antonio Valencia captain (Manchester United)

    6/4/2014 6:01:57 PM
  • Ecuador are in Group E, along with France, Switzerland and Honduras, and are going into the tournament in a bit of muddle, results wise at least.

They fell to a 3-1 defeat to Mexico in Texas on Saturday and didn't play well but did claim a more than decent 1-1 drew with Holland in Amsterdam on May 17. Their last game before that was a thrilling 4-3 win over the Aussies in March. So a mixed bag!
    6/4/2014 6:05:48 PM
  • About an hour away from kick-off, fancy another preview?? Of course you do, dive in! Kostas Lianos gives the facts and figures behind tonight's game.
    6/4/2014 6:08:48 PM
  • Team News: Here we go then, first piece of action tonight and it's the team news, interesting, very interesting...

Team v Ecuador: Foster, Milner, Shaw, Jones, Smalling, Lampard, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Barkley, Rooney, Lambert
    6/4/2014 6:11:52 PM
  • Team news:  Not the back-four many people would be expecting and I don't think it'll be the same on June 14 against Italy but Luke Shaw does get his chance and James Milner is at full-back.

Frank Lampard starts and is captain and will play along side Ross Barkley, much to the delight of fans the country over, no doubt.

Up top it's a front three of Alex Oxlade-Chamderlain, Wayne Rooney and new Liverpool star Rickie Lambert.

Tonight is all about experimenting and Hogdson has certainly not disappointed on that front.

Will it pay off? Time will tell all.
    6/4/2014 6:15:42 PM

  • His had a little tinker about tonight!
    6/4/2014 6:20:09 PM

  • Left-back, central midfield, right wing, in goal?! Hodgson just loves James Milner.
    6/4/2014 6:21:13 PM
  • Well, Hodgson has revealed his hand for tonight's game, interesting stuff too. He wanted to face South American sides in preparation for the World Cup, so let's learn some more. Pens at the ready...
    6/4/2014 6:23:00 PM
  • Ecuador are certainly a home side, they love playing in their back yard and hate away days. Miami may be a bit far from home for them.

In qualifying for the tournament they were unbeaten at home, winning seven times with one draw but away, they lost five times and drew the other three.

Home and away, chalk and cheese.

In their group was Uruguay, England's World Cup Group D rivals of course. Ecuador did very well against them too, beating them at home and drawing away.

By power of sheer common sense, if England beat Ecuador, they'll beat Uruguay, simple.

    6/4/2014 6:27:40 PM
  • Coronation Street has finished over on ITV 1, lovely it was too, and that means kick off is a mere 30 minutes away.
    6/4/2014 6:28:42 PM

  • As he is all the talk at the mo, here's a pretty good Rooney stat. Now, DO IT FOR ENGLAND!
    6/4/2014 6:29:59 PM
  • England have met tonight's opponents twice before. The most memorable being the 2006 World Cup last 16 clash in which the Three Lions just scrapped to victory.

Remember the goal? Of course you do, David Beckham's majestic curled free-kick, a beauty!

I'll give you all a second to try and recall the other meeting between the two sides...

    6/4/2014 6:34:01 PM
  • Any good? Remember? No? Me neither!

It was friendly match which England won 2-0 thanks to goals from Francis Lee and Brian Kidd in the lead up to the Mexico World Cup in 1970. Good Stuff!
    6/4/2014 6:35:37 PM
  • Team news: Heres who England will be taking on tonight...

Ecuador: Banguera, Paredes, Ayoví, Gruezo, Guagua, Erazo, Antonio Valencia, Noboa, Caicedo, Valencia, Montero
    6/4/2014 6:38:53 PM

  • Best of luck to big Ben tonight!
    6/4/2014 6:42:30 PM
  • Just over 15 minutes to kick-off, read a little more in the mean time. England's time in Miami hasn't quite gone to plan so far, their first training session had to stopped because the weather! This is supposed to be Miami not grey old Blighty.
    6/4/2014 6:44:56 PM
  • Sven Sven Sven Goran Eriksson, he's a lovely fella but don't forget that he's from Sweden, Best World Cup Song Ever. No? It was terrible I know but the old Swed is back and he shares his thoughts on Roy Hodgson appointing Liverpool psychiatrist Dr Steve Peters.
    6/4/2014 6:48:07 PM

  • The Twittersphere is all a buzz with England gossip!
    6/4/2014 6:50:09 PM
  • Just 10 little minutes to go...
    6/4/2014 6:50:31 PM
  • A sprinkling of fans, I think it's far to say, not the Wembley crowd of Friday night, that's for sure.
    6/4/2014 6:54:00 PM
  • Italy await, Uruguay await, Costa Rica await, (Germany, Spain and Brazil in the final await, one can dream) but it's all about Ecuador for now.

The teams are out on the pitch, queue the anthems.
    6/4/2014 6:55:46 PM
  • Ecuador turn and face their flag, hands of hearts.

What is tonight all about? Well, a good performance, getting players match ready and avoiding any injuries. A win would be nice, of course but not vital.
    6/4/2014 6:56:48 PM
  • We've got two babies on the pitch here, bit scary for them regardless of the crowd size, all a bit strange, obviously couldn't get a baby sitter.

God Save The Queen time! Everyone up and singing??
    6/4/2014 6:58:12 PM
  • Anthems all done, kick off just minutes away.
    6/4/2014 6:58:37 PM

  • Well said, Sir!
    6/4/2014 6:59:21 PM
  • 0mins: Ecuador get things going and the road to Rio starts here.
    6/4/2014 7:00:45 PM
  • 1min: Good start from England and chance for Rooney. After nice passing, Lampard frees the 'left-winger' through the centre but he cant quite collect. Resulting corner comes to nothing.
    6/4/2014 7:02:29 PM
  • 2min: Ross Barkley does well to pinch the ball in midfield but can't find Jack Wilshere who breaks through the middle, another corner, all England early on.
    6/4/2014 7:03:30 PM
  • 2mins: On the replay, any accurate pass from Barkley there and Wilshere was in.
    6/4/2014 7:04:05 PM
  • Really lively start from Hodgson's men, passing well and creating openings already. Just to recap, Luke Shaw and Ross Barkley earning their first starts for England tonight.
    6/4/2014 7:05:03 PM
  • 5min: Game has settled and Ecuador get their first touches of the ball
    6/4/2014 7:05:50 PM
  • 5min: Rickie Lambert with a peach of a ball nearly sends Barkley free, lot of good work from the Everton man early on, but he is offside.
    6/4/2014 7:06:52 PM
  • 6min: All England, goal is coming. Lambert involved again as he finds Lampard with the pull back. The ex-Chelsea man cant find a good enough connection and it goes wide, chance for him
