  • Chelsea should have been 2-0 at H/T, Looking forward to at least 2 more in the 2nd half.
    12/13/2012 11:27:22 AM
  • So Chelsea are just 45 minutes from Sunday's Club World Cup final. The second half will be kicking off shortly...
    12/13/2012 11:28:51 AM
  • 46 min: GOAL! Torres.
    12/13/2012 11:33:08 AM
  • 47 min: The second half has only just kicked off and Chelsea are 2-0 up - and it's that man Fernando Torres once again. Hazard breaks down the left, pulls it back to the Spaniard who steps to his left and shoots. There's a massive deflection and the ball drops into the back of the net. Great start.
    12/13/2012 11:34:52 AM
  • 49 min: GOAL! Chelsea go 3-0 up.
    12/13/2012 11:35:27 AM
  • 50 min: The second half has only just kicked off and Chelsea are 2-0 up - and it's that man Fernando Torres once again. Hazard breaks down the left, pulls it back to the Spaniard who steps to his left and shoots. There's a massive deflection and the ball drops into the back of the net. Great start.
    12/13/2012 11:37:35 AM
  • 52 min: At 3-0 down, Monterrey must go for it. Any comeback looks unlikely though, there's a real chasm in these two team's ability.
    12/13/2012 11:39:30 AM
  • 53 min: Mata puts the ball just wide when one-on-one with the keeper. The Spain international was offside in any case.
    12/13/2012 11:40:07 AM
  • 55 min: Monterrey win a corner from which Nigris goes very close. A fine save from Cech keeps Chelsea's three goal advantage intact.
    12/13/2012 11:42:31 AM
  • Boom boom boom ...... All Chels take a bow!! On the way to finals !
    12/13/2012 11:42:36 AM
  • 57 min: Mata breaks down the middle before pushing it out to Torres on the right edge of the box. His touch is poor though and Monterrey are able to clear it for a corner which comes to nothing.
    12/13/2012 11:44:22 AM
  • 59 min: You have to love South American keepers. Orozco comes out of his box, chests it down before playing it to a team-mate. Great stuff.
    12/13/2012 11:46:41 AM
  • Mata pictured celebrating the opening goal of the match.

    12/13/2012 11:47:17 AM
  • 62 min: Absolutely no pressure from Monterrey on Chelsea. It was supposed to be the Blues who were jet-lagged, but you would think it was the team from Mexico who have been missing out on sleep looking at this. Lampard looks set to come on.
    12/13/2012 11:49:12 AM
  • 63 min: Ivanovic heads away before Cahill then is forced to step in to avoid a Monterrey shot. Better from the Mexicans.
    12/13/2012 11:50:19 AM
  • 64 min: Lampard is on - and he gets an incredible reception from the Japanese crowd. Luiz is off. The question now is will he get a chance to put goal-line technology to the test?
    12/13/2012 11:51:14 AM
  • 65 min: Corona puts a cross in for Monterrey but it's so tame and very easy for Cech to collect.
    12/13/2012 11:52:01 AM
  • 67 min: Good work from Mata and Hazard down the right hand side ends with a chance for Lampard. The England international strikes a pull back first time from the edge of the box. But vintage this is not - he miss hits it and the ball bobbles wide.
    12/13/2012 11:53:47 AM
  • 69 min: A poor through ball from Cardozo sees another Monterrey attack break down. Very simple this for Chelsea as Mata nearly gets in behind the defence at the other end.
    12/13/2012 11:56:29 AM
  • 71 min: Better from Cardozo here as he hold the ball up in the box before teeing it up from Delgado. It's a decent effort low to Cech's left but the Chelsea keeper is down to it to collect.
    12/13/2012 11:58:01 AM
  • 72 min: Azpilicueta crosses from the right but Orozco is safely out to collect. Chelsea are being made to look great here, but it's down to the complete lack of pressure being put on the ball by Monterrey.
    12/13/2012 11:59:28 AM
  • Mata celebrates in front of jubilant Chelsea fans after hitting the opener

    12/13/2012 11:59:35 AM
  • 74 min: De Nigris goes very close for the Mexicans. He has acres of space in the box but a dodgy first touch is followed by a lashed effort that flings wide of the post. Mata is off for Ferreira.
    12/13/2012 12:01:42 PM
  • 75 min: Whatever De Nigris can do, Corona can do worse. The winger finds space inside the box but hoofs it into the half-empty stands.
    12/13/2012 12:02:33 PM
  • Come On Blues...go for 1 more :)
    12/13/2012 12:03:50 PM
  • 78 min: Substitute Ferreira storms forward but can only stand on the foot of a Monterrey defender. Free-kick to the Mexicans.
    12/13/2012 12:04:57 PM
  • 80 min: Another attack from Monterrey but like the rest of them - it ends tamely as a shot from the edge of the box rolls wide. Torres - scorer of the second goal - is off for Victor Moses.
    12/13/2012 12:06:47 PM
  • 81 min: We're into the final 10 minutes. Let's have another goal please.
    12/13/2012 12:07:44 PM
  • 82 min: Hmm - I don't think we'll be getting a goal from Monterrey. With time to put in a cross from the right, the ball floats to Chelsea defender Azpilicueta who chests it back to Cech.
    12/13/2012 12:09:05 PM
  • 83 min: That said - the Mexicans went very close there with Cech forced to block the ball away after a dangerous attack down the right.
    12/13/2012 12:09:59 PM
  • 84 min: Moses does well, playing a one-two with Ferraira before trying to deliver a cross from the byline. It's headed away.
    12/13/2012 12:11:17 PM
  • 85 min: Moses is offside from a Cech clearance. That's his second offside in less than a minute. Wake up Moses!
    12/13/2012 12:12:26 PM
  • 87 min: It breaks down again for Monterrey as they look to break. Corona knocks it out for a throw in.
    12/13/2012 12:14:01 PM
  • 88 min: Lampard strikes from range. It's a good connection but just over the bar. I think everyone was wanting it to hit the underside of the bar and just cross the line - give that goal-technology a work out.
    12/13/2012 12:15:40 PM
  • Branislav Ivanovic tries his luck from long-range

    12/13/2012 12:17:15 PM
  • 90 min: Monterrey still looking to attack but it's all just a bit slow and Chelsea look comfortable dealing with it.
    12/13/2012 12:17:22 PM
  • 90 + 1 min: We're into injury time. There will be two minutes added time.
    12/13/2012 12:17:56 PM
  • 90 + 1 min: GOAL! Monterrey pull one back.
    12/13/2012 12:18:53 PM
  • 90 + 2 min: De Nigris scores the consolation for Monterrey. The striker has a big smile on his face - but it won't change the result.

  • FT The final whistle goes - Monterrey 1 Chelsea 3.
    12/13/2012 12:20:06 PM
  • FT So Chelsea are through to the final of the Club World Cup where they will play Corinthians on Sunday. And it was all very easy for the European Champions...
    12/13/2012 12:21:38 PM
  • Juan Mata put the English side ahead in the first half before two quick goals at the start of the second half ensured the win.

Fernando Torres will claim the second goal - although it took an almighty deflection. Chelsea's third was an own goal from Chavez after good work from Torres.

Monterrey pulled one back - but the 91st minute strike from De Nigris was too late to matter.

Chelsea will now play the champions of South America, Brazilian side Corinthians in Sunday's final.

  • Chelsea goalscorer Juan Mata: "We are glad to get the win because it's an important trophy for us. We want to be world champions and on Sunday we will do our best to get it.

"In the second half we were very focused to get more goals and we were able to get them, so it's a great result. We have confidence about winning on Sunday, but we know that Corinthians are a very good team and there will be a lot of their supporters here, but we will have ours, too, and it will be a football party."
