Madrid, third in La Liga, are making United look a second-rate team. The gaps in United's formation are being exploited so readily it's probably fair to say Fergie would be pleased to escape with a draw. The United boss could also do with moving Kagawa into a central role or bringing him off altogether. Madrid are clever and will continue to press, though Arbeloa is a weakness United should have targeted. -

72 mins Wow... Rooney runs at the Madrid defence, and feeds RVP, whose fierce shot at goal hits Lopez and then the bar - Lopez didnt know much about it. Then Van Persie get's in behind the defence, and his mis-hit shot loops towards goal but is cleared off the line -

This is the sort of game where Fergie's team could do with a target man. Someone like Rickie Lambert, Edin Dzeko or even their old man, Dimitar Berbatov. The movement wouldn't be key so any of them would be suited to the task. Importantly it would allow United an outlet to build around. RVP and Welbeck are willing runners and are doing well. Playing off a target man would bring in the midfielders too and perhaps give Real something else to deal with -

F/T Well, it wasn't the goal-fest that we were promised, but it was an enthralling match-up, wasn't it? Ferguson will be happy with the draw - and a potentially crucial away goal - forcing Madrid into a position where they have to score at Old Trafford if they want to progress -
It's unfair to criticise Jones' work ethic, attitude and willingness to sacrifice himself for the teams cause. But, that said, he does lack that little bit of class that Scholes possessed at the same age. Admittedly he's a centre back, but in age when centre backs are becoming more involved (Pique, Luiz, Ramos, Sakho etc) he doesn't look as polished as he, perhaps, could be. That said, he and De Gea have been vital for United tonight. -
Mesut Ozil was awarded man-of-the-match, though there was also good performances from Di Maria, Welbeck, Ronaldo and especially De Gea. That's all from me. I hope you've enjoyed our coverage of tonight's game, and keep an eye out on our website or in the newspaper tomorrow for reaction to the game. -
