    • Group A - Shakhtar Donetsk 1  Manchester United 1 (FT)
    • Welbeck (18) put United ahead, Taison (76) equalised for Shakhtar
    • Group D - Manchester City 1 Bayern Munich 3 (FT)
    • Ribery (7), Muller (56) and Robben (59) scored for Bayern; Negredo (80) for City

    10/2/2013 8:36:04 PM
  • A fair point made by The Independent's chief football writer:

    10/2/2013 7:29:18 PM
  • HT: Only one team in this so far, a masterclass of first-half from Bayern. Pellegrini heads quickly down the tunnel, how will he be able to get his team into the game? Stay tuned for some alarming half-time statistics...
    10/2/2013 7:33:20 PM
  • Manchester City fans look away now...

Bayern (350) completed 259, yes that's 259, more passes than City (91), and the possession...Bayern 75%-City 25%. Total control from the Germans.
    10/2/2013 7:39:23 PM
  • The calls for Hart to be replaced as England's No 1 with Celtic's Fraser Forster, who impressed against Barcelona last night, are gathering pace after his error for Ribery's goal.

    10/2/2013 7:44:16 PM
  • 46 mins: The second half begins. A vital half for City, but on the back of that first-half display, how on Earth are they going to have any luck against this imperious Bayern side?
    10/2/2013 7:49:23 PM
  • 48 mins: Navas works a bit of space down the right wing and City win a corner, but the ball is cleared and they can't capitalise. Already more pace injected into the City attack.
    10/2/2013 7:51:17 PM
  • City manager Pellegrini looks on from his seat, although at times during this match he must wish he could look away.

    10/2/2013 7:52:59 PM
  • 54 mins: Robben tries to curl in a left-footer from just outside the area...but it takes a deflection and the ball goes out for a corner. While it's still 1-0, City have to be positive that they have a chance of salvaging something out of this.
    10/2/2013 7:57:08 PM
  • GOAL! Manchester City 0 Bayern 2 (Muller 56 mins)
    10/2/2013 7:57:36 PM
  • A long ball forward from Dante puts Muller through, he takes it round Hart and taps in to an empty net. What was Clichy doing, the left-back looked half asleep keeping Muller on-side. Could well be game over.
    10/2/2013 7:59:34 PM
  • GOAL! Manchester City 0 Bayern 3
    10/2/2013 8:01:25 PM
  • It's now becoming a massacre at the Etihad. City lose the ball in the centre of the pitch, Robben bamboozles Nastastic and then strikes an effort at Hart's near post, which beats the 'keeper for the second time this evening.
    10/2/2013 8:03:21 PM
  • 62 mins: City are shellshocked, and Bayern continue to storm forward, Hart makes a good save from Kroos. Who would have predicted this game would have been such a rout?
    10/2/2013 8:05:45 PM
  • The flying Dutchman becomes history maker:

    10/2/2013 8:07:19 PM
  • While over in Ukraine, a certain flying Welshman also becomes history maker. Giggs makes his 145th appearance in the Champions League, overtaking Raul (144) as the most-ever in the competition.
    10/2/2013 8:09:54 PM
  • 70 mins: Just like a training exercise for Bayern now, a true nightmare for Manchester City. David Silva and James Milner come on for the home side, but they are still chasing shadows.
    10/2/2013 8:13:52 PM
  • 74 mins: This is the first time Manchester City have conceded three goals at home in a European match, and with Bayern determining their their counter-attacks at will, one would not like to bet against a fourth.
    10/2/2013 8:18:10 PM
  • GOAL! Shakhtar 1 Manchester United 1 (Taison 76 mins)
    10/2/2013 8:18:37 PM
  • Despair for Moyes in Ukraine, where Taison delivers an, erm, knock-out blow, unleashing a shot past De Gea from close range.
    10/2/2013 8:21:17 PM
  • GOAL! Manchester City 1 (Negredo 80 mins) Bayern 3
    10/2/2013 8:21:51 PM
  • The substitute Negredo scores with a stunning effort for Manchester City, with a fine turn and powerful left-footed shot past Neuer. 10 minutes remain, and City certainly on the front foot. They can't get something out this game, can they? A thrilling finish awaits.
    10/2/2013 8:24:17 PM
  • Yet another record for the evergreen Giggs:

    10/2/2013 8:26:31 PM
  • RED CARD! Former Manchester City defender Boateng takes down Toure, and as the final man, he's given a straight red. Five minutes remain, incredible finale at the Etihad.
    10/2/2013 8:28:54 PM
  • 86 mins: Silva pings the resulting free-kick over the wall and it hits the bar! Neuer was so comprehensively beaten he was rooted to the spot. So close for City. Guardiola tells his wingers to get back and defend. What a difference to the game in the last 10 minutes.
    10/2/2013 8:31:04 PM
  • 88 mins: Two Manchester City substitutes combine, Milner surges into the area and crosses for Negredo, but he can only head wide. Maybe City can cling on to their league-winning late double against QPR in 2012 for inspiration as the game heads into stoppage time.
    10/2/2013 8:33:15 PM
  • It's full-time, and both Manchester teams fail to win again. Manchester City were outplayed in every sense of the word for 80 minutes at the Etihad, but a late fightback means City can claw a glimmer of hope out of their display. For United, it could be a creditable point  in Ukraine, Taison's sucker punch forcing the draw for Shakhtar.
    10/2/2013 8:39:58 PM
  • The news will be dominated by Hart's errors tonight, beaten at his near post for two of Bayern's goals. With England in World Cup qualifying action next week, what will Roy Hodgson do. The uncapped Fraser Forster looks to be the leading candidate to replace him.

    10/2/2013 8:41:42 PM
  • Poll results time: 36% of you think Manchester City will fail to get past the group stage, and 36% also think they will get suffer a knock-out round tragedy. A terrible evening all round for City at the Etihad.
    10/2/2013 8:47:11 PM
  • Some painful statistical viewing for Manchester City fans coming up..
    10/2/2013 8:48:36 PM
  • Possession:
    City 34% Bayern 66%

    Passes completed:
    City 263 Bayern 613

    Attempts:
    City 9 Bayern 20

    10/2/2013 8:51:06 PM
  • Muller tapped in Bayern's second with the goal at his mercy after rounding Hart

    10/2/2013 8:53:35 PM
  • More of Twitter's reaction to that performance from Joe Hart

    10/2/2013 8:56:50 PM
  • So that concludes our coverage tonight, a real masterclass from Bayern. Manchester City and Joe Hart will have to pick themselves up immediately with Everton visiting the Etihad at Saturday lunch-time. David Moyes, whose United team face Sunderland on Saturday evening, says he was "disappointed" with the passing of his team in Ukraine tonight after the 1-1 draw.
We'll be back on Saturday with all the action from this weekend's Premier League matches.
