And that concludes the evening's activities. For Ian Herbert's match report from Athens CLICK HERE, and Kevin Garside's summary of another painful night for David Moyes CLICK HERE
  • 2 min: Olympiakos look to build on an attack from kick-off, but the long ball is headed back to United goalkeeper De Gea by Smalling. All the away sides have won so far in the Champions League last-16 this season. United will hope for more of the same.

  • 3 min: Evra handles when the tricky Campbell looks to take him on. How will this affect the United left-back so early on in the match?
    2/25/2014 7:49:46 PM
  • 8 min: Smalling losses possession and Dominguez breaks free. He powers unopposed into the box and looks to take a shot, but Vidic leaps in to block. United yet to get going at all but good work from the Serbian.
    2/25/2014 7:54:39 PM
  • 10 min: With Carrick in the centre, United look to keep possession and calm things down. The Premier League side have been second best so far...
    2/25/2014 7:56:27 PM
  • 13 min: Young's lofted ball over the top is easily dealt with. The lethal pair of Rooney and Van Persie yet to get a sniff so far in Athens.
    2/25/2014 7:58:37 PM
  • 15 min: Evra's tame pass is cut out by Salino but United win back possession, quicker in the hounding the Greek side now. Young plays a clever pass to Van Persie in the box, but there's just too much weight on the pass. Nice idea from the winger.
    2/25/2014 8:02:01 PM
  • 17 min: Van Persie powers into the area, fending off Manolas before the ball goes out for a corner. The resulting corner is cleared into the path of Cleverley, but the midfielder scuffs his effort and it goes wide. Encouraging spell for United.
    2/25/2014 8:03:36 PM
  • 20 min: And it's back to keep ball for the soundtrack of the whistling masses. Valencia gets into space down the right, but can't find a team-mate.
    2/25/2014 8:06:43 PM
  • 40 min: United look to get back into the game straight away. Rooney lofts in a free-kick from a dangerous position, but the ball is cleared for a corner. Van Persie leapt to meet Rooney's set-piece but clashed with Olympiakos goalkeeper Roberto. He leaves the field after the incident, in which he endured an awkward fall, but soon returns after United's corner fails to come to anything.
    2/25/2014 8:29:55 PM
  • HT: Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi brings the first 45 minutes to an end. Olympiakos go into the break with a lead, and deservedly so. United have found it tough against the Olympiakos pace so far, and Rooney and Van Persie have failed to shine at all.
    2/25/2014 8:33:42 PM
  • And United get the second-half under way...
    2/25/2014 8:47:34 PM
  • 46 min: The ball is played back to Cleverley, and the midfielder's wayward pass gives away possession. The much-maligned England international has not looked confident at all tonight..
    2/25/2014 8:49:17 PM
  • A gem (although not for the English teams) of a stat by The Independent's James Mariner. Make that over seven hours now...
    2/25/2014 8:50:35 PM
    2/25/2014 8:56:09 PM
  • 54 min: And it's the Arsenal striker, Joel Campbell, who makes it 2-0! He evades the challenge of Carrick with ease, and curls one in past De Gea from just outside the area. Marvellous strike.
    2/25/2014 8:58:08 PM
  • 58 min: United look to bring on Kagawa, who has emerged from the bench. Vital final 30 minutes for Moyes's side. What can they salvage from this?
    2/25/2014 9:00:24 PM
  • 60 min: Still flat from United, who make make a double change in the end. Welbeck and Kagawa on for Valencia and Cleverley. No incision from the United attackers so far at all. Rooney drops back to midfield to gain some kind of involvement in the match.
    2/25/2014 9:03:27 PM
  • 62 min: Carrick cuts out Perez's pass and fires a quick ball over for Van Persie, who plays in Welbeck but he's called offside. United now playing with a degree of urgency at least..
    2/25/2014 9:05:01 PM
  • 64 min: Young croses to Welbeck, he slips but still gets a brave header on the ball and it goes wide. Still time for that crucial away goal..
    2/25/2014 9:05:58 PM
  • 66 min: This time Ferdinand lumps it forward but Van Persie, but it comes to nothing. Olympiakos use their pace on the break, Olaitan gets some space in the box but fires his shot narrowly wide. The Greek side looking dangerous with every attack at the moment.
    2/25/2014 9:10:08 PM
  • 70 min: Rooney looks to get an attack started down the left wing, he plays in Welbeck but Manolas charges across to get the tackle in. Impressive performance from the 22-year-old Greece defender tonight. No wonder he is now capped at international level.
    2/25/2014 9:13:41 PM
    2/25/2014 9:35:45 PM
  • Like the other English teams, Manchester United lose 2-0, and few could argue with the scoreline. Olympiakos dominated, their pacy trio of Dominguez, Perez and Campbell constantly causing problems. Yet another match to forget for the beleaguered Moyes, and a lot of work to be done to recover from this result in three weeks time at Old Trafford.
