  • Hello and welcome to our coverage of tonight's hugely important match between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. The team line-ups are already out, so let's take a look at how the sides shape up...
    4/30/2014 6:12:19 PM
  • Jose Mourinho loves a surprise, and tonight's one comes in a starting 11 packed full with defenders. The Portuguese said he wasn't moved in his recent criticism over playing defensive football, and while Ashley Cole gets the nod at left-back, it appears Cesar Azpiligueta will join David Luiz and Ramires in midfield. Fernando Torres starts in attack while Eden Hazard returns from injury.
Atletico make three changes from the first leg, with fit-again Arda Turan coming into the midfield. With Gabi ruled out through suspension, Felipe starts alongside Juanfran, Miranda and Godin, while Diego Costa will lead the line for the Spaniards.

  • 20 minutes until things get underway, and the night so far has it's pros and cons. It's a warm evening in south-west London, and fans are filing into Stamford Bridge with anticipation as both sets of supporters expect a win. However, the London tube strike has played havoc with getting to the stadium, and everyone will have done a good job to make it on time. Much like the tie, Chelsea have home advantage, but Atletico have the advantage that their goals will count for more tonight having not conceded at the Vicente Calderon. Oh it's finely poised, isn't it?
    4/30/2014 6:26:49 PM
  • Remember 2008? Chelsea were appearing in their first ever Champions League final. They lost out on penalties that day to Manchester united, but a win tonight would see them progress to their third Champions league final in just seven years, and a first with Jose Mourinho at the helm. Can the Portuguese replicate what Avram Grant and Roberto Di Matteo have done before him?
    4/30/2014 6:30:30 PM
  • Atletico meanwhile are yet to win the European Cup, though they are on course for a shock La Liga and Champions League double. Has Diego Simeone put together the surprise package of the season in Europe, or has this season's showing been a long time coming?
    4/30/2014 6:38:34 PM
  • Minutes to go now, and the players are ready in the tunnel. Mourinho makes his was to the end of it, but abruptly stops and awaits the players. Mind games, Jose? Both sets of fans in good voice already.
    4/30/2014 6:41:42 PM
  • Here they come, Chelsea led by Terry, Atletico led by Thiago. Any last predictions? I'm going for a late one, penalties to decide it and redemption for Terry as he slots the winning effort. Bold I know. We're seconds away fro kick-off!
    4/30/2014 6:43:08 PM
  • Focus on Atletico tonight:

    4/30/2014 6:44:07 PM
  • So many talking points. Are Torres and Costa playing against the sides they will be playing for next season? Will we actually get a goal tonight? Can either side beat the rampant Real Madrid in the final? Here we go...
    4/30/2014 6:45:45 PM
  • Not before a minute's silence in memory of former Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova and Vujadin Boškov. Applause rings out immediately around Stamford Bridge. A sad moment indeed.
    4/30/2014 6:47:16 PM
  • 1 mins: The match is underway!
    4/30/2014 6:48:25 PM
  • 1 mins: Schwarzer, the oldest player to appear in the Champions League semi-finals, gets an early touch, as does his opposite number Courtois. Nothing to shout about early.
    4/30/2014 6:50:19 PM
  • I've already found my favourite Ateltico fan

    4/30/2014 6:51:22 PM
  • 3 mins: Ateltico win a corner, and Chelsea are furious that a free-kick wasnt given in the build up.
    4/30/2014 6:52:04 PM
  • 4 mins: Chance...off the bar! Godin takes the corner which Azpilicueta clears back to the defender. He sends in another cross but it looks like it's beaten Schwarzer, only to ricochet off the cross-bar and off Terry for another corner. The danger is cleared, and the goalkeeper puffs out his cheeks in relief.
    4/30/2014 6:53:42 PM
  • 7 mins: Both teams enjoying early possession, with Torres looking surprisingly lively. Cole has had a good start too, and I'm delighted to tell you is impeccably maintained beard remains for tonight's game.
    4/30/2014 6:56:24 PM
  • 9 mins: Costa pressures Cahill into putting the ball out near the corner, but Atletico can't capitalise on the territory. Chelsea look to break, but Hazard is blocked from getting into the box.
    4/30/2014 6:57:25 PM
  • 10 mins: Ramires, Suarez and Willian enjoy a physical battle in midfield, which the Blues' pair come out of on top, but the ball is instantly hoofed up-field. It's worth noting that Atletico haven't lost this season when they have their first choice defense available, as they do tonight.
    4/30/2014 6:59:27 PM
  • Both teams observe a minute silence for Tito Vilanova and Vujadin Boškov

    4/30/2014 7:01:18 PM
  • 14 mins: Hazard wins a free-kick to the left of the Atletico area. A chance for Chelsea, but Willian plays it to the edge of the area and Ramires lines up a shot. he's fouled by Suarez and Luiz is lining a better opportunity up, with Willian also in attendance...
    4/30/2014 7:02:41 PM
  • 15 mins: It's Willian, but his curling effort is over the bar. A big let-off for the visitors.
    4/30/2014 7:03:20 PM
  • 16 mins: Luiz attempts to set Hazard off down the left, but Juanfran is tracking him and puts the ball out ti safety. Atletico are certainly worried by the Belgian, who could quite easily be a match-winner tonight.
    4/30/2014 7:04:26 PM
  • 17 mins: Godin makes an error as his sliced clearance gives Chelsea a good position to attack from. They spread it left, and Hazard sends in a low cross towards the front post. The only problem? Torres is coming from the back post, and Courtois gathers easily.
    4/30/2014 7:05:46 PM
  • 18 mins: Cahill gives the ball away to Felipe, who exchanges quick passes with Adrian and Costa. the Brazil-born Spanish international tries to work around Cahill and fashion a shot, but it's put out for a corner by the Englishman and the move from the corner comes to nothing.
    4/30/2014 7:07:25 PM
  • 20 mins: Torres does well to escape his marker, but his ball to Hazard is lazy and quickly sweeped up to Koke.
    4/30/2014 7:08:43 PM
  • Early pressure from Tiago on Willian

    4/30/2014 7:09:55 PM
  • 22 mins: Azpilicueta and Hazard work a chance for Ramires, but his shot is put out for a corner. The ball is sent-in to the box and finds Luiz with his back to goal. You know what's coming already, don't you? The Brazilian tries a bicycle kick, and while it's off-target, it's not a bad effort. Comical stuff from Luiz as always.
    4/30/2014 7:11:35 PM
  • 24 mins: Cole and Hazard are finding some success down the left, and they win another corner. Terry and Godin are jostling in the box and the referee has a brief word. Willian sends the ball in and Terry ends up on the floor, but while the crowd appeal the captain doesn't. Another corner...
    4/30/2014 7:12:57 PM
  • 25 mins: The first ball is headed away to the edge of the box, where Hazard is waiting and attempts to volley is first time. It's a massive slice though and blazes over the bar.
    4/30/2014 7:13:52 PM
  • 27 mins: Atletico looking to build some kind of platform as they try to hold onto the ball. It soon sees them take possession back into their own half though, and Luiz dispossesses Costa much to the delight of the home fans.
    4/30/2014 7:15:46 PM
  • 29 mins: 10 out of 10 for Miranda's dive! He was a good two metres in the air trying to avoid Hazard, the arms went up, back arched, and the referee told him to get up. Justice.
    4/30/2014 7:17:50 PM
  • 31 mins: Cahill's in trouble as he brings down Costa rashly. The centre-back dived in but the striker got there first and was brought tumbling down, and it's a yellow card for Cahill. Koke will deliver towards the box...
    4/30/2014 7:19:37 PM
  • 32 mins: It's a dangerous delivery from Koke in front of the Chelsea goal, but Terry rises highest and makes a good clearance. The former England skipper is soon on the floor after Costa runs into him, but there's not much contact there considering Terry is holding this hamstring. No dangers, he's back up on his feet once the free-kick is given. Hmmm.
    4/30/2014 7:21:07 PM
  • The winner of this match so far...Real Madrid.

    4/30/2014 7:21:40 PM
  • 36 mins: GOAL FOR CHELSEA!!!
    4/30/2014 7:23:34 PM
  • 36 mins: It's the former Atletico striker Fernando Torres! Azpilicueta takes advantage of some poor defending to dance to the byline. He cuts it back to the six-yard box and there is Torres, whose goal-bound effort is deflected past Courtois and into the back of the net. He raises his hands and refuses to celebrate, come on Nando, it's the Champions League semi-final!
    4/30/2014 7:25:39 PM
  • 39 mins: Well that's livened up the home crowd, and silenced the away section for now. Chelsea are sitting back and looking to remain tight, which is giving Atletico a few chances, but Costa is penalised first for a foul and then offside. Atletico don't need to panic, as one goal would still give them the advantage, but we now can't have extra-time and penalties. There goes my prediction.
    4/30/2014 7:28:46 PM
  • 41 mins: Ramires brings down Turan on the left and Koke will have another chance to send in a delivery into the goalmouth.
    4/30/2014 7:29:26 PM
  • 42 mins: It's another beauty of a delivery that Adriano gets his head to, but his flick-on is straight into the hands of Schwarzer who palms it down to take it comfortably on the bounce.
    4/30/2014 7:30:42 PM
  • 44 mins: GOAL FOR ATLETICO MADRID!!!
