  • Hello and welcome to our coverage of tonight's hugely important match between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. The team line-ups are already out, so let's take a look at how the sides shape up...

  • Jose Mourinho loves a surprise, and tonight's one comes in a starting 11 packed full with defenders. The Portuguese said he wasn't moved in his recent criticism over playing defensive football, and while Ashley Cole gets the nod at left-back, it appears Cesar Azpiligueta will join David Luiz and Ramires in midfield. Fernando Torres starts in attack while Eden Hazard returns from injury.
Atletico make three changes from the first leg, with fit-again Arda Turan coming into the midfield. With Gabi ruled out through suspension, Felipe starts alongside Juanfran, Miranda and Godin, while Diego Costa will lead the line for the Spaniards.

  • 20 minutes until things get underway, and the night so far has it's pros and cons. It's a warm evening in south-west London, and fans are filing into Stamford Bridge with anticipation as both sets of supporters expect a win. However, the London tube strike has played havoc with getting to the stadium, and everyone will have done a good job to make it on time. Much like the tie, Chelsea have home advantage, but Atletico have the advantage that their goals will count for more tonight having not conceded at the Vicente Calderon. Oh it's finely poised, isn't it?

  • Remember 2008? Chelsea were appearing in their first ever Champions League final. They lost out on penalties that day to Manchester united, but a win tonight would see them progress to their third Champions league final in just seven years, and a first with Jose Mourinho at the helm. Can the Portuguese replicate what Avram Grant and Roberto Di Matteo have done before him?
    4/30/2014 6:30:30 PM
  • Atletico meanwhile are yet to win the European Cup, though they are on course for a shock La Liga and Champions League double. Has Diego Simeone put together the surprise package of the season in Europe, or has this season's showing been a long time coming?
    4/30/2014 6:38:34 PM
  • Minutes to go now, and the players are ready in the tunnel. Mourinho makes his was to the end of it, but abruptly stops and awaits the players. Mind games, Jose? Both sets of fans in good voice already.
    4/30/2014 6:41:42 PM
  • Here they come, Chelsea led by Terry, Atletico led by Thiago. Any last predictions? I'm going for a late one, penalties to decide it and redemption for Terry as he slots the winning effort. Bold I know. We're seconds away fro kick-off!

  • Focus on Atletico tonight:

  • So many talking points. Are Torres and Costa playing against the sides they will be playing for next season? Will we actually get a goal tonight? Can either side beat the rampant Real Madrid in the final? Here we go...

  • Not before a minute's silence in memory of former Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova and Vujadin Boškov. Applause rings out immediately around Stamford Bridge. A sad moment indeed.

  • 1 mins: The match is underway!
    4/30/2014 6:48:25 PM
  • 1 mins: Schwarzer, the oldest player to appear in the Champions League semi-finals, gets an early touch, as does his opposite number Courtois. Nothing to shout about early.
    4/30/2014 6:50:19 PM
  • I've already found my favourite Ateltico fan

    4/30/2014 6:51:22 PM
  • 3 mins: Ateltico win a corner, and Chelsea are furious that a free-kick wasnt given in the build up.
    4/30/2014 6:52:04 PM
  • 4 mins: Chance...off the bar! Godin takes the corner which Azpilicueta clears back to the defender. He sends in another cross but it looks like it's beaten Schwarzer, only to ricochet off the cross-bar and off Terry for another corner. The danger is cleared, and the goalkeeper puffs out his cheeks in relief.
