Follow all the action below...

  • FULL-TIME: CSKA Moscow 1 Manchester City 2
    • Tosic opens the scoring to give Moscow the lead
    • Aguero double puts City ahead after 42 minutes
    10/23/2013 5:54:40 PM
  • 10/23/2013 3:44:07 PM
  • 10/23/2013 3:59:39 PM
  • 1 min: The match is underway!
    10/23/2013 4:03:06 PM
  • The teams:

CSKA Moscow: Akinfeev, Nababkin, Vasili Berezutsky, Ignashevich, Shchennikov, Milanov, Wernbloom, Tosic, Honda, Zuber, Doumbia. Subs: Chepchugov, Vasin, Alexei Berezutsky, Gonzalez, Musa, Rahimic, Vitinho.

Man City: Hart, Zabaleta, Nastasic, Kolarov, Jesus Navas, Fernandinho, Toure, Javi Garcia, Silva, Aguero, Negredo. Subs: Pantilimon, Richards, Lescott, Nasri, Dzeko, Clichy, Jovetic.
    10/23/2013 4:04:32 PM
  • 3 mins: A quick ball over the top, but Nastasic deals with it with ease.
    10/23/2013 4:05:15 PM
  • 4 mins: CHANCE FOR CITY! Silva pings a corner in, Aguero rises to meet the cross but his header sails across the goal. Yaya Toure looks to slot it in from close range, but he just misses the ball, not quite Gazza against Germany in Euro '96, but a frustrating miss all the same.
    10/23/2013 4:07:16 PM
  • 6 mins: Early substitution for CSKA, and no, you are not seeing double - Vasili Berezutsky comes off for his twin brother Alexei Berezutsky, who has picked up an injury.Nearly as interesting a substitution as when Eidur Gudjohnsen replaced his father at half-time while playing for Iceland.
    10/23/2013 4:11:05 PM
  • 10 mins: Honda, he of a good engine (sorry). Surges forward down the right wing, the ball is crossed by Tosic but the move comes to nothing.
    10/23/2013 4:14:35 PM
  • 13 mins: Lovely interplay between Toure and Zabaleta creates a chance for Aguero in the box, he attempts the acrobatic kick...but his tame shot goes wide. Replays show that was a clearer chance than it first looked. Should have done better there.
    10/23/2013 4:16:41 PM
  • 17 mins PITCH WATCH: The hard, dry pitch is clearly not suited for the swift passing game, and the ball often bounces up and down like on a basketball court, but certainly does not look unplayable like it was spoken of before kick off.
    10/23/2013 4:19:42 PM
  • 19 mins: The powerful Doumbia gets into a one-on-one against Nastasic but the Serb makes a crucial interception. Javi Garcia had misjudged the bounce to allow Doumbia through against his centre-back partner.
    10/23/2013 4:22:37 PM
  • 25 mins: It's on Honda, looking menacing again, he creates some space on the edge of the area but his shot is blocked by Kolarov. CSKA's best chance of the match so far. It is the long balls that have created panic.
    10/23/2013 4:28:21 PM
  • 26 mins: Silva goes down in the box, is it a penalty? The referee does not think so, but doesn't book Silva either. Could have been a slight bit of contact but the very theatrical fall did him no favours.
    10/23/2013 4:31:09 PM
  • 30 mins: Negredo has a free shot in the area but can only fire his shot straight at goalkeeper Akinfeev. If it was a header I'm sure he would have put it away...
    10/23/2013 4:33:00 PM
  • GOAL: CSKA Moscow 1 (Tosic) Manchester City 0
    10/23/2013 4:33:44 PM
  • 31 mins: What was that about a long ball, the goalkeeper punts it forward, Honda heads on, then Tosic, previously of Manchester United, dinks the ball over the advancing Hart. As route one as it gets.
    10/23/2013 4:35:03 PM
  • GOAL: CSKA Moscow 1 Manchester City 1 (Aguero)
    10/23/2013 4:36:07 PM
  • 33 mins: Well that lead didn't last long. City charge up the other end, Silva works the ball into the box, it sits up neatly for Aguero, who composes himself and slots past Akinfeev from close range. Game on.
    10/23/2013 4:37:37 PM
  • Aguero's finely taken goal deservedly drawing compliements

    10/23/2013 4:41:51 PM
  • That Toure miss, so close...

    10/23/2013 4:43:17 PM
  • GOAL: CSKA Moscow 1 Manchester City 2 (Aguero)
    10/23/2013 4:44:34 PM
  • 41 mins: Just before half-time, and Aguero nods City in front. Negredo lofted in a delightful cross with the outside of his foot, Aguero steals a yard of space away from the defender, and bravely heads in. Could prove to be an absolutely vital strike in the context of City qualifying from this group.
    10/23/2013 4:47:49 PM
  • 45 mins: The last act before the half-time whistle, and Silva nearly makes it 3-1, firing in a free-kick from 25 yards which Akinfeev palms wide. The little Spaniard has looked dangerous every time he has touched the ball.
    10/23/2013 4:50:29 PM

  • 10/23/2013 4:52:39 PM
  • Aguero channels his inner Freddie Mercury with that celebration for his second goal

    10/23/2013 4:53:59 PM
  • BREAKING! Big news from the Premier League has been confirmed, and it is bad news for Ian Holloway. He has left his role as Crystal Palace manager. Dowie, Curbishley et al will be linked no doubt with the vacant seat at Selhurst Park.
    10/23/2013 4:59:47 PM
  • A reminder that we love a Champions League double-header here at The Independent, and will be bringing you all the action from Manchester United v Real Sociedad after this game too.
    10/23/2013 5:02:09 PM
  • 46 mins: The second half begins in Moscow, the first was a real treat, but will City shut up shop now to keep their lead.
    10/23/2013 5:06:18 PM
  • GOAL! Or is it...
    10/23/2013 5:06:29 PM
  • 47 mins: Silva (who else?) powerfully crosses for Negredo, and with with the goal at his mercy he bundles the ball in. But the referee decides it was handball and books the Spaniard. With the ball fired in a pace it looked a harsh decision on the striker.
    10/23/2013 5:09:58 PM
  • 50 mins: After Toure's header is saved. CSKA break at pace, Doumbia turns in the area and makes contact with Javi Garcia, but, like Silva earlier, it is theatrical dive, and the referee turns down the penalty appeal straight away.
    10/23/2013 5:12:25 PM
  • 54 mins: Doumbia sees his header well saved by Hart, and this time it's City who charge forward, Toure is blocked on the edge of the box and it's a free-kick in a dangerous position for the visitors.
    10/23/2013 5:14:04 PM
  • 56 mins: Kolarov looks to test the 'keeper with his magic wand of a left foot, it's up and over the wall at speed - but goes wide.
    10/23/2013 5:15:27 PM
  • CSKA striker Doumbia is providing a few talking points on Twitter, getting more and more into the game as it wears on.

    10/23/2013 5:17:29 PM
  • City's substitutes grace the bench, might take a while for them to get ready when they are summoned to 'warm up'

    10/23/2013 5:19:09 PM
  • 62 mins: Negredo tries to put Aguero through on goal for his hat-trick, but over-plays the pass. He could blame the pitch, but he doesn't.
    10/23/2013 5:22:40 PM
  • 65 mins: City starting to look more comfortable now, and are having more success in retaining possession. One more of those long balls from CSKA which have caused so many problems though...
    10/23/2013 5:25:54 PM
  • 66 mins: The ball is fired in at Silva, and for once the playmaker's composure eludes him, and he digs the ball at the goalkeeper. Unlike Negredo earlier, he seems to blame the bouncy surface.
    10/23/2013 5:28:17 PM
  • City's new 'head boy' indeed...

    10/23/2013 5:29:52 PM
  • It isn't just the ball which is doing odd things on the bouncy pitch. Honda gets some elevation here

    10/23/2013 5:31:35 PM
  • 75 mins: Shots from Tosic and Honda remind City that they are still very much in this game. Tosic's went wide, while Honda's was blocked, but the warning signs are there. Tosic's run which presented the Honda chance was Lionel Messi-esque as he bamboozled the City defence.
    10/23/2013 5:38:01 PM
  • GOAL! And what a goal...or is it...

    10/23/2013 5:38:58 PM
  • 80 mins: Another big call from the ref, as Toure looks to clear the ball from a free-kick, it falls into the path of Musa on the edge of the area who bangs it past Hart with an absolute rocket of a shot. But the referee had blown for a foul on Toure before he smashed it home.
    10/23/2013 5:42:51 PM
  • 84 mins: Sky Sports are reporting that a section of CSKA supporters are making 'monkey' noises every time Toure gets the ball. A sad state of affairs in 2013 if true.
    10/23/2013 5:45:30 PM
  • 87 mins: With the bit between his teeth, Tosic goes for another shot from range, but hits it straight at Hart. City are just trying to see this one out.
    10/23/2013 5:47:44 PM
  • 89 mins: Or are they? Substitute Dzeko gets ahead of his marker in the box, but he can only poke wide from six yards. Could have wrapped up a tough away tie there.
    10/23/2013 5:49:39 PM
  • Certainly City's man of the moment

    10/23/2013 5:51:23 PM
  • 92 mins: LATE CHANCE! The ball is crossed and Honda has a great chance from close range, he hits the half volley, but Hart stays big and blocks it. Will be a big confidence booster there for England's No 1 after some of his recent criticism.
    10/23/2013 5:54:28 PM
  • FULL-TIME: And that is a vital, vital, away victory for Manchester City. An enjoyable, open match which could have easily gone either way, but City held on (especially towards the end). Crucially, they are now second in Group D, level on points with Bayern, who play in 45 mins against the group's whipping boy (with a girl's name) Viktoria Plzen.
    10/23/2013 5:59:48 PM
  • Toure admitted after the match that he heard the racist chanting from the CSKA fans, and was saddened and disappointed to hear them. He has urged Uefa to do something about it, hopefully they will follow suit.
    10/23/2013 6:09:21 PM
