  • 50 for Chris Rogers
    8/7/2015 2:12:41 PM
  • WICKET! Rogers c Root b Stokes - 52

That's out! Another superb catch from Root in the slips diving full stretch and this time it isn't a no ball. Finally England have the breakthrough.
    8/7/2015 2:16:35 PM
  • 50 for David Warner
    8/7/2015 2:19:07 PM
  • WICKET! Warner c Broad b Stokes - 64

Warner tries to pull the ball into the leg side but only manages to get a top edge on it and it flies up high for Broad to catch at mid on. Another strike for England and Ben Stokes.

  • Stokes celebrates the wicket of Chris Rogers

    8/7/2015 2:33:30 PM
  • WICKET! Marsh c Root b Stokes - 5

Another one for Stokes! Marsh avoids another duck, but he doesn't exactly contribute much, edging Stokes to Root in the slips.
    8/7/2015 2:36:23 PM
  • WICKET! Smith c Stokes b Broad - 5

Another wicket! Stuart Broad has more Test wickets than Fred Trueman now. Smith flashing a drive at Broad but edging to Stokes in the gully. Great catch and England are rattling through Australia now.
    8/7/2015 2:39:11 PM
  • TEA: Australia 138/4

Well that session picked up a bit as far as England were concerned. A flurry of wickets and suddenly it looks like this game might finish tonight again.
    8/7/2015 2:43:45 PM
  • Australia 154/4

We seem to have been beset by technical problems again, but hopefully all fixed now. Australia have added 15 runs since Tea, neither Clarke or Voges exactly looking secure out there.
    8/7/2015 3:23:27 PM
  • WICKET! Clarke c Bell b Wood - 13

Got him! The bowling change works for England, as Wood, in his second over since coming on, removes the Aussie skipper. Clarke pushes at one outside his off stump and it flies to Cook at first slip who spills the ball but manages to parry it up twice and Ian Bell catches it as it bobs up in the air. Unorthodox method but it has the desired result in the end.
    8/7/2015 3:50:14 PM

  • Bye bye Warner

    8/7/2015 3:57:27 PM
  • Australia 178/5

Australia playing a missing a lot here, Nevill is yet to get off the mark after facing 19 balls and the tourists have just four runs from the last five overs. Finn and Wood bowling well in tandem.
    8/7/2015 4:11:23 PM

  • Hasta la vista Pup

    8/7/2015 4:18:00 PM
  • NO BALL - Oh not again. Finn gets Nevill to edge to Cook at first slip and England celebrate but it turns out it's another no ball. Massively overstepped there.

    8/7/2015 4:24:24 PM
  • Australia 201/5

200 up for Australia as Moeen Ali concedes 11 from the over, giving their supporters something to cheer. 16 overs left in the day and the prospect of a two-day finish is looking less likely.
    8/7/2015 4:37:22 PM

  • Wood gets Clarke

    8/7/2015 4:48:16 PM
  • Australia 214/5

Double bowling change for England, Ben Stokes on at the Radcliffe Road End and Stuart Broad returns from the Pavilion End. Can they prise out the rest of the Aussies before the close? Floodlights on at the moment as it's quite gloomy.
    8/7/2015 4:50:20 PM
  • Australia 224/5

The bowling changes haven't worked for England, this pair bring up their 50 partnership, less than 10 overs more to be bowled today, looks like we are going into day three.
    8/7/2015 5:02:21 PM
  • REVIEW! Nevill given out LBW shouldering arms. He reviews.
    8/7/2015 5:03:39 PM
  • WICKET! Nevill LBW Stokes - 17

That's plumb. Hitting the top of middle stump. Nevill out not playing a shot.
    8/7/2015 5:04:26 PM

  • OUT

    8/7/2015 5:06:49 PM
  • Australia 231/6

15 minutes until close of play tonight (unless England can get a couple more wickets and perhaps claim the extra half hour) so those dreams of only the 20th two-day Test look like they might have to be put away again.
    8/7/2015 5:16:41 PM

  • Feeling the strain?

    8/7/2015 5:18:57 PM
  • WICKET! Johnson c Cook b Stokes - 5

Got him! Stokes has 5 wickets. That one swings away from the left hander and takes the edge of his bat, flying to Cook at first slip. Australia 7 down.

    8/7/2015 5:21:11 PM

  • Stokes gets Nevill

    8/7/2015 5:24:25 PM
  • BAD LIGHT STOPS PLAY
    8/7/2015 5:27:17 PM
  • CLOSE OF PLAY: Australia 241/7

So that's it for the day, no two-dayer and we will all come back tomorrow. Australia still trail by 90 runs, with just three wickets remaining. England should wrap up the Ashes tomorrow some time.

  • Ashes 2015: The reason England are on the verge

The IndependentThere was no more vivid sense of the pitiful emasculation of Australia than the moment just before lunch when Chris Rogers was reduced to dragging out time in a ruse to restrict exposure to England’s brilliant effervescence by a mere six balls.
