We want to hear what you think. To do that, use the 'Make a comment' button below and we'll post the best ones.

    • Michael Clarke 125 not out, Steve Smith 70 not out
    • Rogers out for 84 (LBW Swann)
    • England lead series 2-0
    • Australia won the toss and chose to bat

ENGLAND - Cook, Root, Trott, Pietersen, Bell, Bairstow, Prior, Bresnan, Broad, Swann, Anderson

AUSTRALIA - Watson, Rogers, Khwaja, Clarke, Smith, Warner, Haddin, Siddle, Starc, Harris, Lyon

    8/1/2013 8:58:43 AM
  • Australia 220/3 (Clarke 87, Smith 26)
Anderson comes into the attack once again and Clarke lashes him away for four but then remains on 87 which is considered unlucky if you're Australian (because it's 13 away from a hundred if you were interested)
    8/1/2013 3:50:19 PM
  • Australia 225/3 (Clarke 90, Smith 30)
Five come from Swann's over - the spinner not getting as much joy as he did earlier in the day and then Anderson sends down a maiden. Just a hint of reverse swing there though from Anderson which is encouraging for England.
    8/1/2013 3:56:49 PM
  • Australia 225/3 (Clarke 90, Smith 30)
Bresnan into the attack now to try and perhaps extract some of that reverse swing seen in the last over and he's off to a good start with a maiden.

  • Clarke on the attack
by Charles Reynolds on Aug 1, 2013 at 4:02 PM

    8/1/2013 4:03:02 PM
  • Australia 227/3 (Clarke 90, Smith 32)
The game is really crawling along at the moment as Steve Smith takes a single from each of Anderson and Bresnan's overs to add two more to Australia's total.
    8/1/2013 4:08:05 PM

  • Michael Clarke plays a great shot to lift Broad over the slips for four
by Charles Reynolds on Aug 1, 2013 at 4:08 PM

    8/1/2013 4:09:18 PM
  • Australia 239/3 (Clarke 91, Smith 41)
Swann back into the attack and suddenly the runs flow for Australia, Smith deciding to go on the charge and hitting him for two consecutive fours.
    8/1/2013 4:13:38 PM
  • DRINKS: Australia 243/3 (Clarke 95, Smith 41)
That's a superb shot from Clarke, driving Bresnan back down the ground for four but the Yorkshireman finds a great riposte, as Clarke swings and misses at one next up.
    8/1/2013 4:15:01 PM
  • We're back after drinks...
    8/1/2013 4:20:21 PM
  • Australia 246/3 (Clarke 96, Smith 42)
Three from Swann's over and then Bresnan like a faithful old carthorse keeps plugging in from the Statham End and sends down another maiden, that's his fifth today.
    8/1/2013 4:26:32 PM

  • Joe Root turning his arm over earlier in the day
by Charles Reynolds on Aug 1, 2013 at 4:29 PM

    8/1/2013 4:29:50 PM
  • Australia 250/3 (Clarke 99, Smith 43)
Australia move to 250 and Clarke is now one away from his hundred...
    8/1/2013 4:31:15 PM
  • 100 for Michael Clarke (169 balls, 13 fours)
    8/1/2013 4:33:33 PM
  • Australia 255/3 (Clarke 101, Smith 43)
So Clarke gets Australia's first hundred of the series, it only took them three games...
    8/1/2013 4:36:46 PM
  • Congratulations to the 14% of you who said Michael Clarke would get Australia's first hundred in the series in our poll. Your star prizes are in the post...
    8/1/2013 4:38:50 PM
  • Australia 259/3 (Clarke 105, Smith 43)
Disdain from Clarke to Bresnan as he just lifts him over mid off for four. The bowler comes back though with an excellent one that beats his outside edge off the last ball. The new ball is imminent now for England.
    8/1/2013 4:40:14 PM
  • 50 for Steve Smith (115 balls, 4 fours)
    8/1/2013 4:43:40 PM

  • Clarke celebrates his hundred with Steve Smith
by Charles Reynolds on Aug 1, 2013 at 4:45 PM

    8/1/2013 4:46:10 PM
  • Australia 269/3 (Clarke 111, Smith 50)
Trott has the last over before the new ball and he gives Clarke about the juiciest half volley possible which Australia's skipper has no problem in dispatching for four.
    8/1/2013 4:47:59 PM
    8/1/2013 4:48:14 PM
  • Australia 273/3 (Clarke 111, Smith 54)
Anderson bowls the first over with the new nut and he starts with a fairly rancid short ball which Smith nonchalantly pulls away for four. The rest of the over is much better though and Australia add no more to their total.
    8/1/2013 4:54:41 PM
  • Australia 280/3 (Clarke 118, Smith 54)
Broad unsurprisingly opens up with the new ball from the other end but Australia take seven from the over, Clarke first slashing at a wide one for four and then guiding one through the slips for three.

  • Clarke celebrates his ton
by Charles Reynolds on Aug 1, 2013 at 5:05 PM

    8/1/2013 5:05:56 PM
  • Australia 283/3 (Clarke 120, Smith 55)
Maiden from Anderson and then just three from Broad's over. England not managing to do much with the new ball so far...
    8/1/2013 5:08:41 PM
  • Australia 297/3 (Clarke 124, Smith 65)
Slight technical problem but back now and unfortunately England haven't managed to take any more wickets. In fact Australia have plundered 17 from the last three overs as England's bowlers have looked a bit ragged.
    8/1/2013 5:19:28 PM
  • Australia 298/3 (Clarke 124, Smith 66)
Swann comes into the attack to replace the weary Anderson and he calms things down a little bit with just a Steve Smith single added to the total.
    8/1/2013 5:21:44 PM
  • Australia 300/3 (Clarke 124, Smith 68)
Bresnan into the attack now and Australia pick up the couple they need to move to 300 much to the delight of their fans here. The Barmy Army launch into a retaliatory version of 'God Save Your Queen' but you feel it's scant consolation for them.
    8/1/2013 5:26:45 PM
  • Last over of the day coming up from Brezdog...
    8/1/2013 5:32:09 PM
  • Australia 303/3 (Clarke 125, Smith 70)
So that's that for Australia - what a partnership from Pup and mini-Pup. Best day of the Ashes for the tourists by some way.
